They return to the home pool on a four-game winning streak with a 6-2 record, stacking five top-25 wins in their first two weekends. The action begins on Friday evening with their first-ever meeting against Carthage College, followed by another exhibition Saturday morning with McKendree. That evening, Indiana will enter a top-25 showdown against Cal Baptist. Both Saturday games will stream live via BTN Plus on BTN2Go.com. Indiana topped #23 Marist by four goals before dominating on defense for a 10-2 win over #21 Wagner. Against the Eagles, Jessica Gaudreault and the IU defense held a shutout until the midpoint of the fourth quarter. Joelle Nacouzi led the Hoosiers in nearly all categories with 8 goals, 5 assists, and 4 steals. Kelly Matthews tallied 7 goals, followed by Jennifer Beadle with 6 goals and 4 steals. BACK IN HER ELEMENT Jessica Gaudreault has made an emphatic return to Indiana since coming back from a two-year stint with the Canadian National Team. The junior averages 10.8 saves per game along with 4 steals and 3 assists this season. Gaudreault, a two time All-CWPA first teamer, tallied 29 saves against 14 goals allowed at the Bruno Classic. McKendree (3-5) 11:30 AM Series: First Meeting -EXHIBITION- HOOSIER POLO NOTES #25 Cal Baptist (5-6) 7:00 PM Series: IU, 7-2 HOT START Head coach Ryan Castle has begun his tenure at Indiana with gusto. The Hoosiers have only lost twice this seaon, both times against top-10 opponents, and have five top-25 wins including an 8-5 upset over #5 Hawaii. Six players, including key contributors Mollie WIlliams and Joelle Nacouzi, joined the team two weeks before the season opener. Most notable about Castle s Hoosiers is their diversity on the attack. Eight Hoosiers have recorded a goal this year; five have more than one assist; and 12 have steals to their credit. BY THEIR LEAD The Hoosiers announced a trio of brand new captains to lead the team through the 2017 campaign: junior Jessica Gaudreault, junior Kelly Matthews, and senior Bronwyn Smith. OF NOTE... The Hoosiers have an all-time home record of since their first season in Indiana will also play a Senior Day home game against McKendree (4/21) before hosting the 2017 CWPA Championships (5/12-14). They ll also serve as host for the 2017 NCAA Championships at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis. Eight Hoosiers come to Bloomington from outside of the United States. Jessica Gaudreault, Sarah Myers, Kelly Matthews, and Joelle Nacouzi hail from Canada; Emily Powell, Mollie Williams, and assistant coach Emily Carr come from Australia; head coach Ryan Castle is from South Africa.

3 Indiana announced the hiring of Ryan Castle as the new head coach of the Indiana water polo program on July 15, Castle s experience includes a series of high-profile assistant coaching positions at the collegiate level, along with assistant and head coaching experience on the international stage. Castle comes to Indiana with nine years of collegiate coaching experience in NCAA Division-I water polo. Serving as the associate head coach for the University of Hawai i for the past two seasons, Castle helped guide the Rainbow Warriors to the 2015 Big West Tournament Championship and an appearance in the 2015 NCAA Championship. Castle served as an interim head coach during the 2016 season, and in that time Hawai i earned a 13-4 record with five wins over top 10 teams and two of those coming against No. 4 California. After a comprehensive national search, we are thrilled to have Ryan Castle as the new leader of Indiana water polo, Glass said. Ryan has a terrific record of player and team development at both the collegiate and international levels, is a tireless recruiter, a noted tactician and a person who values the tenets of the Spirit of Indiana. We are excited to have Ryan at IU. Before entering the CWPA, Castle found similar success during his time at Arizona State ( ), highlighted by the 2008 season, where the Sun Devils achieved their highest national ranking (#4) and their highest single-season win total (21) in program history. I would like to thank Indiana University and Director of Athletics Fred Glass for the opportunity to lead the Indiana water polo program, Castle said. I view Indiana as one of the top programs in the country and I am excited to get started and continue to push IU towards the top. And the 24 Sports, 1 Team mantra is one that I could not be happier to embrace and enhance as we move forward. Outside of the collegiate ranks, Castle has honed his craft with international teams, both at the junior and senior levels. Most recently, Castle held the reigns as the head coach of the Kazakhstan Women s Senior National Team, where he guided Kazakhstan to an appearance at the 2011 FINA World Championships in Shanghai, China. Kazakhstan s 13th-place finish at the event was the fourth- highest in the country s history. During Castle s tenure, Kazakhstan was ranked as high as 10th in the world. Before Kazakhstan, Castle served as the Video Analyst for the New Zealand senior team at the 2009 FINA World Championships. From 2007 to 2009, Castle worked in the US Olympic Development Program by running one of the United States under-18 zone teams. Castle had the opportunity to coach for his home nation of South Africa from 2002 to 2005, and again in 2011, where he assisted with the Women s Senior National Team and served as head coach for the National B Team. In 2003, Castle took charge of the South African Women s Junior National Team and assisted with the Men s Junior Team. A native of Cape Town, South Africa, Castle graduated from the University of Cape Town in 2001 with a bachelor s degree in information systems and earned a post-graduate credential in education in 2003.
