4 4 Chairperson s Report Welcome to the third Annual General Meeting of Hawke s Bay Netball Centre Incorporated ( HBN ). Exceptional Netball Experiences continues to be the statement that underpins our governance processes and the day to day operations of our organisation. On reflection, when we first considered the concept of Hawke s Bay Netball in early 2012, we didn t imagine that the organisation would grow at such a fast rate, or experience the successes it has, within it s first three years. Once again, the staff and volunteers have paid a large part in those successes and 2015 has been another busy year, highlighted by HBN winning the RSO/Club Operations Award (for the second year in a row) at the Hawke s Bay Sports Awards, Wairoa joining HBN and Napier Girls High School qualifying for the New Zealand Secondary Schools Netball Champs. Other fantastic achievements of our members are detailed in this Annual Report and, on behalf of the Board, I congratulate all of you. your roles and the organisation. Finally, to our sponsors, volunteers and participants thank you for your support in Your continued involvement helps us to develop HBN and grow the sport we love. We look forward to this continued support in 2016, and beyond, as netball in Hawke s Bay continues to shine and enjoy the success and recognition it (and all those involved with netball) deserves. Heidi Oliver Chairperson November 2015 Once again, thank you to the HBN Board, Chris McIntyre (Vice Chairperson), Dionne Thomas, Meg Brown, Paul Kerins, Shirley Randell and Sue Hewitt - it has been a pleasure working with you during Our staff continue to ensure that HBN provides exceptional netball experiences with Tina Arlidge ( Operations Manager) leading the team of: Helga Lewis (Business Administrator), Denise Aiolupotea (Netball Development Officer), Nicki Lugt (Junior Co-ordinator), Tracy Crichton (Administrative Support and Venue Convenor), Venue Convenors Luana Mitchell (Wairoa) and Trish Moke (Central Hawke s Bay).Thank you all for the contributions that you make to HBN with your commitment and dedication to

5 5 Operations Manager s Report As we come to the end of our third year I am very pleased to provide you with the Third Annual Report and reflect on the successes to date. Managing one of the largest (if not the largest) code in Hawke s Bay is very rewarding and I personally would like to thank all of you for everything you do to make it happen. We now have over 7000 players, hundreds of coaches and officials and are really stamping our mark on the sporting sector, not just regionally but also nationally. After the large 56% participation increase from lifting Hawke s Bay Netball Centre (HBN) from tenth to fourth largest centre in NZ, we were pleased to maintain those numbers in ANZ Future Ferns Year 1-4 and Summer Netball are the areas where we have had the largest competition growth. Summer Netball has grown to include over 80 teams, meaning there is now no such thing as an off-season. Having Wairoa Netball come on board this year has been great. We have managed to take the Pulse players there for a Fun Day, role out the ANZ Future Ferns to Year 3 & 4 and provide a number of development opportunities at the Wairoa courts. Providing equipment has also been a focus this year. We also continue our work in Central Hawke s Bay to ensure everyone is united in netball across Hawke s Bay. To the sponsors and funders of HBN we could not do what we do without you, on behalf of the whole netball community I would like to thank you. Netball Central Zone and Netball New Zealand staff we have enjoyed working collaboratively with you this year on a number of projects and look forward to the year ahead. Finally to the staff and board of HBN it has been great once again working with you to implement HBN Vision and Mission. Deliver Exceptional Netball Experiences and To provide quality netball opportunities and continue to develop all facets of Netball in Hawke s Bay, thanks again. Tina Arlidge Operations Manager November 2015 Through the implementation of a Volunteer Plan we have successfully set up a HBN Umpire Development Group and HBN Bench Official Development Group which have both achieved some fantastic outcomes this year. Thank you to members of those groups for your hard work and dedication, also to those officials who turn up week after week for HBN. To our 14 representative teams HBN managed this year, you have made us very proud, with the results, passionate coaches/managers and achievements of the players (detailed in this report). With the addition of a HB Under 19 Team and preparation for a HB Senior Women s Team during this reporting period, we are really providing our regions best players, coaches and officials the opportunity to represent our region.
