1 Wilfrid Laurier vs McMaster After a four game road trip, the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks basketball teams return to the friendly confines of the Athletic Complex for tonight's matchup against the McMaster Marauders. For the Laurier women, they enter tonight's game playing their best stretch of basketball this season having won four of their past five contests, including their weekend sweep of the Lakehead Thunderwolves. After two solid wins in Thunder Bay, the Hawks are now above.500 for the first time all year and are currently tied for third in the OUA West Division with the Western Mustangs. Tonight, the Hawks will face a tough opponent in the McMaster Marauders. Currently just two points behind Laurier in the standings, McMaster is coming off one of the biggest upsets in the OUA this season when they took down the previously undefeated Brock Badgers by a score of With the OUA West so tightly bunched in the middle of the standings currently, both teams will be looking to pick up a very important notch in the win column as the push for the playoffs begins. Meanwhile, in the men's game, the Hawks limp home after getting swept by the Thunderwolves last weekend. In the opener of the doubleheader on Friday night, the Hawks posted a season-low 53 points, a stunning stat considering Laurier is averaging nearly 80 points per game this year. Home court has also been a kinder place for the Hawks to play this year as they own a 2-4 record at home while scoring at a clip of 85 points per game. On the other side of the ball tonight, the Marauders come into tonight ranked third in the OUA West division with an 8-7 record. Last week, McMaster earned a split of their two games as they handily defeated the Brock Badgers and lost to the top team in the OUA West, the Windsor Lancers. If the Hawks can pick up an upset victory tonight, it could move them into a tie with Brock and Guelph for fourth in the conference. Currently, Laurier is holding on to the final playoff spot in the division and with just six games remaining, every game will be important from here on out.
