6 WNBA REBELS Saundra Jackson Former Los Angeles Sparks star Jennifer Gillom was first team All- WNBA in 1999 and a 2000 All-Star. Yolanda Moore Ole Miss assistant coach Armintie Price Herrington was selected third overall by the Chicago Sky in the 2007 WNBA Draft, becoming the highest Rebel draft choice in school history. Price played in the 2010 WNBA Finals with Atlanta. Jennifer Gillom is currently the head coach of the Minnesota Lynx. She will also be an assistant coach for the 2010 USA Basketball Women s World Championship Team. Rebels Overseas Former Ole Miss head coach Carol Ross helped orchestrate the Rebels run to the 2007 Elite Eight. She is currently an assistant coach with the WNBA s Atlanta Dream and coached the Dream in the 2010 WNBA Finals. Ole Miss has three former student-athletes playing overseas this season (L to R) Carla Bartee, Wolftenbuettel Wildcats in Germany; Shawn Goff, Super-Pol Leszno in Poland; Bianca Thomas, Challes-Les-Eaux, Basket in France. 6

7 Two members of the Ole Miss family - Van Chancellor and Peggie Gillom - have coached a United States team at the Olympics. OLE MISS & USA BASKETBALL Jennifer Gillom won a gold medal at the 1988 Olympics as a member of Team USA. Gillom will also serve as an assistant coach under Geno Auriemma for the 2010 USA Basketball Women s World Championship Team. Rebel assistant coach Armintie Price was chosen as an alternate for Team USA for the 2005 World University Games. Former Ole Miss head coach Carol Ross was an assistant coach for the gold medal-winning United States U-19 team in

8 CELLULAR SOUTH GILLOM TROPHY It was such a tremendous honor to be one of the finalists for the Gillom Trophy. Coach Gillom means so much to me and has done so much for Ole Miss, and to even be considered for a trophy that bears her name is something special. Bianca Thomas, 2009 Gillom Trophy winner Peggy Gillom-Granderson and 2008 finalist Shawn Goff. 8 The Cellular South Outstanding Player Award series expanded in 2008 to include the Gillom Trophy, which is awarded annually to the top women s basketball player in the state of Mississippi. The trophy is named after Rebel great Peggie Gillom- Granderson, who served as both a player and coach at Ole Miss.

9 COMPETITION The SEC has posted impressive non-conference records in the last decade. The SEC compiled a (.729) nonconference record during the season. Since the 1990 season, the SEC has compiled a (.767) record against other conferences. The league has recorded 150+ wins during eight seasons and has never recorded a non-conference winning percentage below.723. SEC teams have earned appearances in 25 of 29 NCAA Final Fours, an accomplishment unmatched by any other league. The league also had the distinction of providing both national finalists twice in its history in 1996 (Tennessee 83, Georgia 65) and in 1989 (Tennessee 76, Auburn 60). SEC teams have won 329 NCAA Tournament games against 168 losses (.662) for an average of 11.3 NCAA wins per year. 9

Tad Smith Coliseum will see upgrades for the season with a unique centerhung display, featuring four LED video displays measuring approximately seven feet high by 13 feet wide. Two ring displays are also part of the centerhung structure and will be able to show a variety of graphics, animations and statistical information. Overall the display will measure approximately 17 feet high by 24 feet wide and will also feature four dedicated scoring sections. 11 BASKETBALL PRACTICE FACILITY OPEN JANUARY 2010 We have some of the top facilities in the conference and our practice facility really shows a commitment to the basketball programs here. Having our own practice facility allows for flexibility in scheduling practice or individual work. Our building is an incredible recruiting tool, functional for our student-athletes and shows a true commitment to our sport. We did it right. 12 ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE Currently pursuing an exercise science degree, Kayla Melson has been named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll in each her three seasons as a Rebel. Under Ladner, the Ole Miss women s basketball team has a 100% graduation rate and a 1000% in APR. Ole Miss student-athletes not only have the opportunity to play in one of the best conferences in the nation, they also attend a university that is world-renowned for its academics. Under Karen Schiferl, the Senior Associate Athletics Director for Academic Support, the Office of Student-Athlete Academic Support has made great strides in improving the environment for Ole Miss student-athletes. Numerous full-time academic counselors, learning specialists and tutors assist Schiferl, and the $5 million FedEx Academic Support Center, completed in May 2007, provides the perfect environment for learning. Last year, Ole Miss women s basketball had more than its share of student-athletes named to the school s various academic honor rolls, while placing five total players on Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Rolls. With Ole Miss athletics taking its place among the best in the nation, the Student-Athlete Academic Support staff hopes that Ole Miss graduates of today have a great impact in the future of tomorrow. 16 REBEL PRIDE Ole Miss Women s Basketball stresses hard work and dedication on the court and in the classroom, with an effort to build young women into successful athletes and citizens of their communities. Among the professions of Rebel women s basketball alums are teachers, doctors, nurses, physical therapists, coaches and business executives. Some have also spent significant time and effort in community service and various mission fields. Below are just a few examples of this success. 17 The people of Oxford offer tremendous support to the Ole Miss athletic teams, and the student-athletes at Ole Miss return that support by being actively involved in both the Oxford and University communities. Among the worthwhile activities that Ole Miss student-athletes regularly participate in as part of the CHAMPS Life Skills - Rebel Ready program are assisting with reading programs at local schools such as Reading with the Rebels, visiting patients in area hospitals, being mentors to elementary school students, visiting senior adults at local retirement centers, holding several Meet the Rebels days throughout the year, and giving numerous talks on subjects such as drug awareness and staying in school to area students. Senior Bianca Thomas was one of 11 female finalists for the Brad Davis Southeastern Conference Community Service post-graduate scholarship. Thomas was awarded a $3,000 post-graduate scholarship that can be used up to five years following her graduation from Ole Miss. COMMUNITY The Rebel readers do a great job. King, Soulja Boy, Three 6 Mafia and Wilco. Artists that have recorded at local Sweet Tea Studios include the Counting Crows, Gavin DeGraw, Ben Folds, the Hives, Jars of Clay and Modest Mouse. Oxford s Lyric was recently named one of the top 100 music club venues in the world by Pollstar, the leading concert industry trade publication. 20 Celebrities such as Samuel L. Jackson and Faith Hill regularly visit Oxford for charity events and performances.
