The squad joined the teams from , , and in the prestigious group. UT Martin now has 40 victories in two seasons under Heath Schroyer, which is a new record for most wins in a two-year span in the school s Division-I history. The all-time school record for most victories in a two-year stretch is 41 from HOWARD NAMED IRST TEAM ALL-OVC Twymond Howard was named to the All- OVC first team, earning all-conference honors for the second straight year. It marked the first time that the Skyhawks had played back-to-back overtime contests since Jan. 12 and Jan. 14, It was the first time that UT Martin had won two consecutive overtime outings since Jan. 13 and Jan. 15, MOBLEY HAUNTS AUSTIN PEAY Jacolby Mobley played the role of hero in the Skyhawks overtime win at Austin Peay on eb. 13. He pulled up for a 22-foot three-pointer from the right wing that found nothing but net as the final buzzer sounded to help UT Martin erase a 17-point second-half deficit for the win. That came after Mobley did not miss a single shot attempt against Austin Peay on eb. 4, tying his career-high with 20 points. He was 5-for-5 from the field (including four trifectas) and also knocked down all six of his attempts from the charity stripe to lead UT Martin to an win. ACTIVE EDWARDS PLAYS BIG AGAINST SEMO Kedar Edwards piled up 21 rebounds in UT Martin s win against Southeast Missouri. It was the first time that a Skyhawk had grabbed at least 20 rebounds since Darrell Smith hauled in a school-record 27 boards against Maryville on Dec. 20, Edwards performance on the glass was the best by a Skyhawk in the program s Division-I history (since 1992) and was tied for the secondmost rebounds in a Division-I game this year. KNOCKING THEM DOWN ROM 3-POINT LAND The Skyhawks have tied a school record with 16 three-pointers twice in the span of four games this season. Eight days later in a win at lorida Atlantic, the Skyhawks held the Owls to 32.1 percent shooting (18-of-56) and a 19 percent (4- for-21) effort from beyond the three-point arc. 23 head coach heath schroyer Leading UT Martin to an unprecedented era of success is Heath Schroyer, who was introduced as the program s ninth head men s basketball coach in program history on March 20, This season, Schroyer helped guide the Skyhawks to their first-ever Ohio Valley Conference West division championship and first-ever OVC Tournament championship appearance. UT Martin s 19 wins in give Schroyer 40 total victories in his Skyhawk head coaching career, which is the most wins in a two-year span in the program s Division-I history (since 1992). This is UT Martin s second consecutive season where it has qualified for the postseason, a feat that had not been done since the program took part in the NCAA Division-II Tournament in 1982 and Schroyer s work at UT Martin has not gone unnoticed on the national level, as he was identified as one of 10 Coaches on the Rise by CBS Sports Jon Rothstein in a national article published in November Out of the 12 OVC schools, only UT Martin and traditional league power Belmont have punched their ticket to the postseason in each of the last two years. In his debut season at UT Martin, Schroyer was at the forefront of one of the most successful seasons in school history in , as the Skyhawks finished one win shy (21) of the school record. UT Martin s 13-win increase from the previous season was tied for the fourth-best improvement in the nation as the Skyhawks led all of Division-I with 12 road victories, which was a school record. UT Martin notched the first three postseason victories in the program s Division-I history, advancing all the way to the inal our of the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament. Out of 345 Division-I members, the Skyhawks were one of the final 14 teams alive in the hunt for a postseason championship. After guiding UT Martin to just the second 20-win campaign in the program s Division-I era, Schroyer was named the Tennessee Sports Writers Association Men s Basketball Coach of the Year in He was also one of 16 finalists for the 2015 Hugh Durham National Coach of the Year Award, which honors the nation s top mid-major coach. Schroyer, 44, has 20 years of collegiate coaching experience, including nine years as a head coach at the Division-I level. All seven of Schroyer s stops at a Division-I institution has culminated in either a conference championship or postseason play. Before coming to UT Martin, Schroyer spent three seasons at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas working as the associate head coach under Dave Rice. The Runnin Rebels sported three 20-plus win seasons, a overall record (29-19 against Mountain West Conference opposition) and appearances in the 2012 and 2013 NCAA Tournaments in Schroyer s tenure. He was named a top-15 assistant coach in the nation by Bleacher Report in and followed that with a top-20 assistant coach in the nation honor by College Sports Madness for the campaign. Schroyer coordinated UNLV s recruiting efforts since he joined the staff in The Runnin Rebels 2012 recruiting class was ranked No. 7 in the nation by ESPN and one year later, UNLV produced Anthony Bennett - the No. 1 overall selection by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2013 NBA Draft. Bennett joined Larry Johnson (Charlotte Hornets, 1991) as the only players in UNLV s prestigious history be selected first in the NBA Draft. UNLV knocked off seven nationally ranked teams in Schroyer s first two seasons, including a win over No. 1 North Carolina in That marked UNLV s first win over the SCHROYER YEAR-By-YEAR YEAR...
