The coaches/scouts assigned to coach the designated teams in each age group will be responsible for the selection of the All-Star Game participants. All coaches will vote on the participants and at no time will the directors of the event be involved in the selection process. Team Rosters: Team Rosters will be available for download by Friday, May 19, on the following page. An notification will be sent to you when it is available:
5 Team Assignments: All registered and accepted players will be randomly assigned to a team prior to the start of the event with an effort made to make the teams as equal as possible. For example, the total number of AAA players will be added up, sorted alphabetically, and then assigned to each team in a 1, 2, 3 fashion. After that the same protocol will be used to assign the AA players, then the Junior A players, and then the Junior B players to teams. It is in the best interest of the showcase, and the players, to provide even teams, and to promote the highest level competition as possible. Unfortunately, with this in mind, we are unable to place large groups of players traveling together on the same team in the Showcase. Each team will consist of a max of 6 Defenseman, 9 Forwards and 3 Goaltenders with equal ice time afforded to all players in every game. Team Coaches: Each Team will be assigned two coaches for the duration of the weekend. This coach will run the bench for each game and conduct the face-to-face exit interviews at the conclusion of the event. Game Format: All games will be 75 minutes long and consist of a 5-minute warm-up and three (3), 20-minute running time periods. All games will be refereed by 2 certified refs and will play according to USA Hockey Junior rules. That being said, for the safety of the players, we will be playing normal icing rules, not hybrid icing rules utilized at the Junior level. Showcase Rules: The Showcase will utilize USA Hockey Junior hockey rules for all games. Each penalty will result in the player spending two minutes in the box, instead of the shootout like years past. We have received requests from coaches that want to see how certain players react in man up, and man down, situations. All penalties will be 2-minute running time penalties. Along with the standard USA Hockey rules, we will be also strictly enforcing the following rules: NO-FIGHTING: If you fight, you will be subject to a hearing in front of the Showcase Directors and may be ejected from the remainder of the showcase with no refund. INTENT TO INJURE: If you injure a player in a malicious way, with a clear intent to injure, as determined solely at the refs discretion, you will not be allowed to play the remainder of the game in question. If it happens twice, that payer will be ejected from the remainder of the Showcase with no refund. HALF-SHIELDS: Half shields may be worn only by those players 18 years of age or older as of May 26, If you are under 18 and show up with a half-shield, you will be escorted off the ice and not allowed to return to play until you find a full cage. Exit Interviews: All players will be able to schedule a face-to-face exit interview with one their assigned team coaches. It is suggested that these interviews be done as late as possible during the weekend to give your coaches as much time to evaluate your play as possible This being said, it is advised that each player talk to their respective coaches to determine a best time for that coach to do the interview. All FW and D will conduct their interviews with one of their two assigned team coaches, and all goaltenders will conduct their exit interviews with one of their assigned goaltender session coaches. IMPORTANT NOTE: It is the responsibility of the player to schedule the face-to-face interviews with their coach, not the other way around. Please be diligent about this.
6 CCM Hockey Awards: The CCM Hockey Top Prospects, along with the All-Star Game MVP s, will be selected at the conclusion of the age-specific All Star Games on Sunday, May 28. The CCM Hockey Top prospects will receive a CCM Hockey hoodie, and the All-Star Game MVP s will each receive a 2017 CCM Super Tacks 2.0 hockey stick. CCM Pro-Fit Sessions: The CCM Hockey Showcase is pleased to announce that CCM Hockey will be conducting Pro-Fit Sessions throughout the weekend. Pro-Fit Sessions help to educate players on the latest technology and products in hockey, as well as ensure proper fitting of all equipment on an individual basis. All CCM Pro-Fit Sessions will be conducted by CCM Hockey Rep Taylor Guay & CCM Hockey FAST Agent George Barber and are available to all players. All Fit Sessions will be conducted in the lower level lobby of the rink on a first-come, firstserve basis. CaptainU: The CCM Showcase has partnered up with CaptainU, one of the leading player recruiting profile services available, to better help promote our players. And the best part of the whole thing is this service is FREE to all our participants! It only takes a few minutes to setup and as I said, it is FREE! Simply click the link below to create your profile and it will automatically be associated with the CCM Showcase where coaches will be able to view it before, during or after the event. Equipment: CCMHS Participants will not be allowed to leave their equipment in the locker rooms over the course of the weekend. You must take your equipment with you after each event. Water Bottles: Due to health concerns, community water bottles will not be made available during the event. Water fountains are readily available throughout the facility to fill your own bottles so please bring your own water bottles! Player Profiles: You all should have received an with instructions on how to login to your account and update the required player profile information. If you did not, or have misplaced it, please find those instructions listed on the Forms page of our website at the link shown below. All players are required to fill out these fields prior to Monday, May If you have any questions at all, or if there is anything I missed, please feel free to call or me directly at any time. I would be more than happy to speak with you. See you May 26th! Mike Gempeler - CCMHS Director MikeG@CCMHockeyShowcase.com
