14 ANNUAL REPORT 14 AUDITOR'S REPORT To the Board of Selectmen: Town of Madawaska, Maine. Houlton, Maine, March 5th, I have audited the hooks and other records of the Selectmen, Treasurer and Tax Collector for the year ending Feby. 28th 1941 and find them correct. All records in the office of the Selectmen and Treasurer evidenced exceptionally due care and consideration having been employed in their keeping. Tax Collector's records were found to be well kept and his list of unpaid taxes as published equal his account due the town for the respective years. Excise Tax Collector F. D. Fournier's records were complete and all money collected turned over to the Treasurer. Excise Tax Collector Paul E. Guerrette's records were poorly kept, and no evidence of any attempt to balance his account at any period during the year was found. After tabulating his receipts issued and crediting him with his remittance to the Treasurer, there appeared a shortage amounting to $1, of which amount $87.16 has been recovered since the books closed. All money received by the Treasurer has been deposited in the Bank and her Cash balance on hand as shown in the town report reconciles with the Bank Statement as of Feby. 28, W. FRANK GARDINER Auditor
