1 Alamo Area Youth Soccer Association Competitive General Rules U11-U19 Boys & Girls AAYSA youth soccer competitions (U11-U19) shall be divided into three (3) divisions: AAPL: Alamo Area Premier League; AACL: Alamo Area Champions League and AASL: Alamo Area Select League. The AAPL and AACL will have a VP/League Director and a Committee. The AASL (Alamo Area Select League) will have its own VP/League Director and Committee. - AAYSA Vice President of Competitive: Competitive Div. League Director: AAPL & AACL - AAYSA Vice President of Select: Select Div. League Director: AASL The Competitive Divisions (Alamo Area Premier League and Alamo Area Champions League) shall be comprised of teams considered to be competitive. The Alamo Area Select League shall be comprised of teams not wanting to be considered competitive soccer teams (aka Recreational Teams). GENERAL A. AAYSA General Rules. It is the intent of AAYSA Rules to establish minimal standards to govern play; with the goal to create a fair competitive format to improve the overall level of play within the Alamo Area. This is open to independent teams, as well as, clubs & associations wishing to join the AAYSA. B. Exceptions to FIFA Laws. Except as otherwise noted in these rules, FIFA Laws shall govern the play of any games between member organizations, provided, however, that teams, players, and coaches competing in STYSA and/or USYS competitions shall be governed by STYSA and/or USYS respectively. Click to View: STYSA General Rules LEAGUE NAMES LEVELS OF PLAY A qualifying tournament will be used to determine division placement depending on the total number of teams registering. Divisions further shall be divided into age levels. Each age level of competition shall comprise a league. Teams wishing to play in the lowest division (AASL) Alamo Area Select League are only required to register for the league. The number of teams in each league may be increased or decreased with the approval of the VP of Competitive and AAYSA Board. The VP of League and their committee has the authority for the final placement of teams into the proper division. AAPL: Alamo Area Premier League: AAPL (Max 18 teams) *Most Competitive AACL: Alamo Area Champions League: AACL (Max 18 team) *Competitive AASL: Alamo Area Select League: AASL (No Max) *Least Competitive AAPL & AACL competition is a yearlong competition: Aug-May AASL is a seasonal competition (Fall & Spring Season): Aug-Dec Feb-May STYSA/AAYSA SPRING CUP PLAY ELIGIBILITY LEVELS Most Competitive: Alamo Area Premier League (AAPL) o STYSA: DIV II Goal is get this division promoted to S2 in the future ( ) o STYSA Cup Eligibility: Directors Cup (Recommended) South Texas Cup AAYSA Alamo Cup (*Not a STYSA Cup)

Alamo Area Premier League (AAPL) o Both Seasons Fall & Spring (Yearlong Competition) - Aug-May Alamo Area Champions League (AACL) o Both Seasons Fall & Spring (Yearlong Competition) - Aug-May Alamo Area Select League (AASL) o Fall & Spring Seasons: Fall: Aug-Dec Spring: Feb-May REGISTRATION Competitive teams playing in AAYSA cannot play in other leagues concurrently. No team shall play in a league game without first having submitted all the league fees and all pertinent paperwork to AAYSA. No refund of REGISTRATION FEES will be made once a team has registered to play with AAYSA, unless AAYSA is unable to provide a league within which the team can play. A. Register for events using GotSoccer a. Team(s) shall provide a point of contact (head coach, team manager, registrar, etc.) to handle all matters of team registration. b. AAYSA Member Clubs and Organizations i. Club or Organization Registrar will be responsible for registering teams appropriately on or before registration deadlines. Team Coaches and Team Manager need to verify that their team(s) were registered correctly before the deadlines. c. Independent Teams i. Any team or organization not a member of AAYSA will register their teams directly under AAYSA. Independent teams interested in registering for one of the AAYSA Leagues (AAPL, AACL, AASL) will need to complete an application so they can gain access to GotSoccer. 1. AAYSA will be their registrar QUALIFYING TOURNAMENT FORMAT AAYSA qualifying tournament shall be known as the AAYSA Competitive League Challenge Tournament. *** the AAYSA Competitive League Challenge Tournament will be held for ALL AGE GROUPS AAYSA Challenge Tournament: (U11) Boys & Girls Prior to the fall season, held in August, all teams wishing to be compete in the Alamo Area Premier or Champions League must participate in the AAYSA Competitive League Challenge Tournament. Based on the results of these games, the top 18 teams will be invited to Alamo Area Premier League and will play each of the other 17 teams once in a calendar year (typically 9 games in the fall and 8 games in the spring). The

3 next 18 teams will be invited to Alamo Area Champions League, and will play each of the other 17 teams once in a calendar year (typically 9 games in the fall and 8 games in the spring). AAYSA Challenge Tournament: (U12-U19) Boys & Girls Alamo Area Premier League: All teams who finished among the top 14 teams from the AAPL division the previous year will be invited to field a team (or, if applicable, teams) in following year s AAPL division. The top (4) four teams from U11 AACL the following year will also be invited to field a team (or, if applicable, teams) in following year s AAPL division. The 1st and 2nd place team from the previous year (Playoff Tournament) may leave the AAYSA Premier League to join a higher level of competition, I.E. WDDOA. If this happens then a mini-challenge tournament will be held in August for the (4) teams relegated to the Alamo Area Champions League the previous year for a chance to regain their Alamo Area Premier League status. o If this happens, it will also open up (2) two more spots in the AAYSA Competitive League Challenge Tournament for that age division. Alamo Area Champions League: All teams who finished in the bottom four (4) from the AAPL division the previous year will be invited to field a team (or, if applicable teams) in the AACL division the following year. All teams who finished in 5th - 10th place in AACL division the previous year will also be invited to field a team in AACL division. The 1 st place team in the Fall & Spring Season of the (AASL) Alamo Area Select League the previous year will be invited to field a team in the AACL division. The remaining six (6) places in Alamo Area Champions League division will be determined through the AAYSA Competitive League Challenge Tournament. Note: Six (6) is the minimum number of available spots each year in the Alamo Area Champions League, but this number could be increased. The open number of spots will be properly posted on the AAYSA website before the AAYSA Competitive League Challenge Tournament. STYSA FALL CHAMPIONSHIP INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT Only the top eight (8) AAPL teams will get the chance to qualify for the STYSA Fall Championship. After (9) League Games (during the fall season) the top (8) teams (out of 18) (top 45%) in points in the Alamo Area Premier League (AAPL) will play in the AAYSA Fall Championship Tournament to determine AAYSA Team Allocations to the STYSA Fall Championship District Tournament.

4 If we have a tie in points to determine top (8) eight teams: Please refer to Tiebreaker Rules. 1) Head to Head 2) Goal Differential 3) Goals Scored 4) VP/Committee Decision. If a team does not want to participate in the STYSA Fall Championship Invitational Tournament, they have the option to decline the invitation. If this happens the next highest ranking team will get the invitation. AAYSA Fall Championship Tournament (to determine STYSA Fall Championship Team Allocations) Teams will be group by current ranking into (2) groups of (4). The Top (2) teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals. AAYSA CITY CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT Held in May each year; Team Trophy and player medals will be given to the 1st & 2nd place team. Tournament dates for this event will be posted a year in advance. AAYSA: Alamo Area City Championship Tournament: PLAYOFFS Divisions: Alamo Area Premier League Alamo Area Champions League Alamo Area Select League AAPL: Alamo Area Premier League: Top (8) eight teams will be entered into the Championship Tournament (Playoffs) Teams will be grouped by their point ranking into two (2) groups of four (4) The top two (2) teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals ***The winner and runner-up of the AAPL can move on to a higher level of competition if they choose. AACL: Alamo Area Champions League: Top (4) four teams will be entered into the Championship Tournament (Playoffs) Teams will be group by their point ranking into (1) group of (4) The Top (2) will advance to the Final ***All (4) Teams who qualify for the Playoffs will be promoted to the AAPL (Alamo Area Premier League) the next year. AASL: Alamo Area Select League: The Alamo Area Select League is broken into two (2) seasons (Fall & Spring). The AAYSA City Championship Tournament (Playoffs) will combine the point winners from both the Fall and Spring Seasons in each age group. Top (4) four teams from the Fall will qualify and the top (4)

5 teams from the Spring will qualify. If a team qualified in both the Fall and Spring, then the 5 th place team in the Spring will qualify and so on until we have the top (8) eight teams to seed the brackets. Teams will be grouped by their point ranking into two (2) groups of four (4). The top two (2) teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals. ***The top (2) two teams will get an invitation to join the Alamo Area Champions League the following year. Teams need to be prepared to play a year-round schedule, not a seasonal schedule if they accept the invitation. POINT SYSTEM FOR LEAGUE PLAY 10 Point Scale 6 points for a win 3 points for a tie 0 points for a loss 1 point for each goal up to 3 max goals 1 point for a shutout TIEBREAKERS ALL games may end in a TIE. If teams are tied in points, the following TIEBREAKERS will be used to determine which teams advance. 1. Head to Head 2. Goal Differential No Max 3. Goals For No Max 4.
