7 Canterbury Farm I have been a Leachman Cattle of Colorado cooperator since 2008 during this period I purchased over 25 Leachman females using them as the foundation for my herd. I Send bulls to Colorado each year. Unfortunately due to an injury last fall and an extended late harvest I was unable to send bulls due to time constraints. The cornerstone of selling bulls through LCOC is calving ease. In the western U.S. large commercial herds run about 300 cows per man. They have no time for a calving problems. Also vets can be more than 4 hours away so major calving problems are managed for salvage. Most of my 65 cows contain 3 to 4 generations of calving ease sires in their pedigrees. Its been a long time since I have had to help a cow or heifer calve. Cows are weighed once a year and are udder and teat scored and culled accordingly. Cows are also culled for temperament especially at calving. I would like to thank Jack Mccoubrey for giving me the opportunity to be apart of the 27th annual pick of the crop bull sale. I believe in the genetics that my bulls possess and I would buy any calves that are produced by these bulls and I would also share all data harvested such as weaning and yearling weights. At sale day he should be tipping the scales at 1700lbs at just 14 months of age. Gaining 5.88lbs per day on test (through 84 days) he has proven that he can convert on pasture and in the feedlot. His 76lb birth weight can be attributed to his multi-generation calving ease pedigree. Sired by the most heavily used sire in the Leachman group, Hooks Trinity 9T is the premier Simmental calving ease bull in the Leachman system. When Jack McCoubrey walked through the herd last fall, he called this bull a Superstar. He is a stout bull sired by the winner of the Royal Winter Fair in His dam is out of the breeding giant TMF WESTWOOD, who was the high selling Limousin bull in 2010 selling for $54,000. His Grand Dam is the first cow we purchased from Top Meadows, and this genetic line continues to produce terrific replacement heifers and bulls. His ADG is 4.1 lb/day and his WPD is 3.6 lb/day. On this bull s EPD s he ranks in the top 15% for YW,M, and CW. His REA is in the top 5%. This bull s calves will have lots of eye appeal with the big Carcass Weight and Ribeye and a solid pedigree with many of the top Genetics in the Limousin breed to back him up. We are consigning what we feel is good group of bulls that provide variety and options in this years PIC Bull Sale. They are right for the times, with moderation of frame but still maintaining performance and carcass traits through multiple generations of selection. The bulls this year are out of a 4 different herd sires that we have selected to maintain carcass and performance traits. We have 2 bulls are out of our black herd sire Richwood Admiral 26A, that were well received last. Admiral is a son of Triple C Singletary and goes back to famous Hooks Shear Force carcass bull. We also have 3 black bulls out of our TNT Z330 homozygous black herdsire that we use on heifers. These 3 guys are out of first calf heifers and we believe will work on heifers as well produce calves that perform. Our new bull Oakview Breaking Bad 11B (born December 27, 2014) we purchased out of Manitoba as yearling in 2016, because of his famous mother KOP Bengie 6P, who is also the dam of KOP Crosby. His father, LRX Godfather impressed us when we had the opportunity to see him at stud in Alberta. We only had a few male calves and a lot heifer out of him last winter, and the fall calving group have more bulls that will show up for sure next fall at the Marywood sale. We are extremely please, as we can see already he is the real deal. His bulls look like bulls and his females look like ladies. He is a herd sire that exemplifies performance, length, depth of hip, and carcass with moderation in frame. What has impressed a lot about this bull in the first year was his ability maintain condition while working in spring and fall program without any special care, which landed 37 calves on the ground from 11B in We think his one son in the sale represents him well. The 97E red bull in the sale is without a doubt a testament to Superman and what he has done for us. Superman did all we could have expected from a great walking herdsire that we were so very fortunate to own and work with. We have multi generations of actual ultrasound data to ensure consistency of the carcass data and performance is locked in. Our herdsires are selected based on Simmental breed association EPD s, BIO EPD s and BIO Across Breed Comparison () data. 16 TERMS: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable at par at sale location unless satisfactory credit arrangements have been made previous to the sale. The right of the property shall not pass until after settlement is made. Carson s Auction Services reserves the right to require a certified cheque as settlement before releasing any sale cattle. Should any purchaser fail to settle for his purchase, Carson s Auction Services reserves full power to resell the animal to the best advantage either publicly or privately, without further notice. Any loss arising from such resale together with keep and all other expenses shall be payable by the defaulter. All settlements must be made with the clerks of the sale before any cattle will be released. BIDS: Every animal consigned to the sale must be sold by auction.
