2 Steve & Pat Thoeny 827 Quarter Horse Road Rosebud, MT Phone It is our pleasure to welcome you to our 20th Annual Production Sale. We want to take this opportunity to thank our past customers for their support. It means a lot to us to see the same customers at our sale year after year, and it is always a pleasure to see new faces. After getting the cows through the toughest winter we can remember, we started calving with 3 of snow everywhere. We didn t see bare ground until April. The bulls had a tough start but thankfully with the good mothering ability of our cows, our losses were minimal. We will be selling 51 bulls, all AI sired by top ABS Global, Accelerated Genetics and ST Genetics bulls. Though our cattle aren t registered, these bulls are a product of our extensive AI program. When picking an AI sire, we take many traits into consideration with carcass, maternal and disposition traits being priorities in our program. Many of the bulls are 1/2 or ¾ brothers out of low birth weight sires and were born to 2 year old heifers. If you are looking for heifer bulls, there are several suitable for heifers. We weaned the bulls on October 17th. They were started on a medicated weaning pellet for about 10 days before switching them to the Purina Accuration/ Corn mix and long stem hay. Sickness was been minimal since weaning them. The bulls were weighed on October 26th (9 days after being weaned) and averaged 597#. A 205 day average of the group was 621#. On December 25th, the bulls were weighed again with an average weight of 772# and the top bull weighing in at 880#. The ADG during that time is 2.91 lbs per day. One of our goals it to develop a bull that will stay sound through his life, so we are careful not to push these bulls too hard. We will be ultra-sounding the bulls in mid-january, and the carcass data as well as their current weights will be available on sale day. They will be fertility tested in April when they all reach 12 months of age. Should a bull fail to test, the cost of the bull will be refunded.
