European Championship: The European Championship consists of Vaquero Groundwork, Vaquero Horseback and Vaquero Breakaway Nations Cup: Every Class counts in which all participating nations are represented. 1 af 11

2 Rules for the individual Class General about positions in Groundwork: Around the dummy a circle is drawn, which is divided into 8 sectors (P1 - P8). The start takes place at position 1 and continues in the clockwise direction (left-handed counterclockwise direction). P1 is in front of the head, P5 is the tail, etc. 1. Greenhorn Groundwork (Dummy) Time limit: 6 minutes The "Greenhorn" class is reserved for beginners in Dummy Ranch Roping. Participants who have already started in the class "Greenhorn" from 2008 to 2017 are no longer allowed to compete in this class. The goal is to catch the dummy from any of the 8 positions with any throw of the Basic Course, around the neck. (See Greenhorn / Kids List Headshots). Every valid catch counts 2 points. The distance to the dummy center is about 3 1/2 meters. 1 to 3 different throws may be shown. The judges are authorized to take out starters who are overqualified for this competition. Additional points: For good or bad rope handling the judge can deduct or add one point. 2. Advanced Groundwork (Dummy) Time Limit: 5 minutes The Advanced class is for Roper with a little more experience, but does not start in the Vaquero class. In this competition, the distance to the dummy center is 4 meters. The goal is to catch the dummy from any of the 8 positions with any throw around the neck. (See Vaquero throw list Headshots) Each participant will fill out a list of the throws that he will use in different positions. The throw is announced by the judge before the performance. A correction is not permitted. Each throw may only be shown twice. (= at least 4 different throws) The judges are authorized to take out starters who are overqualified for this competition. Additional points: For good or bad rope handling the judge can deduct or add one point. 2 af 11

3 3. Ladies Cup (Dummy) Time limit: 5 minutes True to the motto "Cowgirls do it better". Here is your class. In this competition, the distance to the dummy center is 4 meters. The goal is to catch the dummy from any of the 8 positions with any throw (See Vaquero Throw list Headshots) around the neck. Each participant will fill out a list of the Throws that he will use in different positions. The throw is announced by the judge before the performance. A correction is not permitted. Each throw may only be shown 3 times. (= at least 3 different throws) Additional points: For good or bad rope handling the judge can deduct or add a point. 4. Vaquero Groundwork (Dummy) Time limit: 10 minutes Counts with "Vaquero Horseback" and "Vaquero Breakaway" together for the European Championship. In the "Vaquero" class, the distance to the dummy head shots is at least 5 m and for Hipshots at least 4 m (for exceptions refer to the throw list). The distance can be extended at the discretion of the Roper. For heel shots, the distance to the hind legs is about 1m (at the discretion of the Roper). The competition starts at position 1 and continues in the clockwise direction. After the Roper has thrown the 8 headshots (P1-P8), the hind legs are caught with 3 hip shots and 3 heel shots. A One-Swing is considered as a different throw and must be announced / noted accordingly (see list of valid throws). Each participant will fill out a list of the throws that he will use in different positions. The throw is announced by the judge before the performance. A correction is not permitted. Each throw may only be shown once. Extra points: For the throwing style the judges can add or deduct one point. When expanding with the distance, the judges must admit one point per meter. 3 af 11

4 5. Vaquero Horseback (Dummy) Time limit: 10 minutes Counts with "Vaquero Groundwork" and "Vaquero Breakaway" together for the European Championship. In this category, the rider sits on his horse. The rider makes 3 head shots from three different positions, the distance is 4 meters. Then 3 different hip shots, distance 4 meters and finally 2 different heel shots. Each participant will fill out a list of the throws that he will use in different positions. The throw and position will be announced by the judge before the performance. A correction is not permitted. The available time is 10 minutes. Only one try per throw. Admitted are horses from 4 years old. If you do not bring your own, you can borrow a horse. 6. Vaquero Breakaway (Cattle) Time limit: 8 minutes Counts with "Vaquero Groundwork" and "Vaquero Horseback" together for the European Championship finals. Throws must be completed on live cattle (with Dally and Breakaway). A missed shot can be repeated. Separate a calf of free choice from the herd and catch it with a head shot, Dally and Breakaway (Honda release). Subsequently, within the time limit, additional cattle can be sorted out and catched with a head shot. Dally and Breakaway (Honda release) after every catch. A calf may only be caught once. Per catched calf, points are given according to the throw List. In addition, judges will rate: -1 1/2 to +1 1/2 points - Tracking the cow / following - stockmanship - Horsemanship - Shortening and Dally Up (Rope shorten after throw and Dally) - Overall style of the Ropers Disqualification and 0 points are at: Abort by the judges, do not respect animal welfare, fall of horse and/or rider. Penalties are available for: 5 - Losing the rope, 1 to 3 - for hitting his horse with the Rope (after the judge's estimation), 1- for each failed attempt. Admitted are horses from 4 years old. If you do not bring your own, you can borrow a horse. 4 af 11

5 7. Kids Cup (Dummy) Time limit: 6 minutes The "Kids Cup" is reserved for children under 16 in Dummy Ranch Roping. The goal is to catch the dummy from any of the 8 positions with any throw around the neck. (See Greenhorn / Kids throw List Headshots). Every valid catch counts 2 points. The distance to the dummy center is about 3 meters. The kids need to be able to Rope on their own. Additional points: For good or bad Roping style the judge can deduct or add one point. 8. Team Parcours, Heading and Heeling (Dummy) This class is started in pairs (in a team of 2). Different dummies are catched by the Header and then by Heeler. By the head shots, the dummy has to be catched around the neck. For the heel shots, the loop must be placed so that the animal would step into the loop when walking forward. Throws can be chosen freely. Header and Heeler can exchange their position at any time. The points are given according to the Vaquero throw List. Each greenhorn and kid gets one point extra per catch. The time starts after crossing the start line and ends after both Roper have crossed the finish line. If points are equal the fastes time counts. Each participant is only allowed to start once 9. Team Joke Parcours (Dummy) Possible for all Ranch Ropers. Groundwork, Joke competition, in this competition its all about having fun, let yourself be surprised. Each participant is only allowed to start once 10. Team Ranch Work (Cattle) Time Limit: 8 minutes This class is a combination of a Cattle obstacle Course and Roping. A team consists of 3 riders. For a rating in the Nations Cup, the team must consist of 2 riders from one nation. A rider may max. start in one team. Only ropes with breakaway honda are allowed. Important: No scoring according to the throw list in this class! Horsemanship and Stockmanship are top of this competition. The execution of the tasks is not about speed but about quality, style and teamwork. The judges are required to punish violations at their discretion with a disqualification. 6 A herd of cattle is driven out of a closed area and through an obstacle, after which a calf is caught with a head shot, dally and breakaway. In case of a miss, the Roper alternate. Subsequently, the cattle are driven through another obstacle and finally the herd is driven back in to the closed area. If the Class is worked out correctly 10 points If a task is not completed or skipped, the class is not completed. Additional points: -1 1/2 to +1 1/2 points - Teamwork - Work with Rope - Work on cattle - Rider overall impression Disqualification and 0 points are given: if judge or veterinarian interrupt the ride and If rider and / or Horse falls. Penalties are given for: 5 - losing or dropping the rope, 1 to 3 - for hitting the horse with the rope (at the discretion of the judges), 1 - for every failed throw. Nations Cup: Every class counts in which all participating nations are represented. To participate in the Nations Cup, a nation must start at least five different clases. It counts the best result of each nation for the nations rating. 8 Discharge rules. (As of 03/23/2018) Changes are still possible The rules are made for this competition based on the previous events in Austria, Hungary, Germany and Switzerland. General. The day before the first competition, each participant can participate in free practice. The required throws can be requested and demonstrated on request. For all competitions Western clothing with hat is mandatory. No double starts are allowed for all competitions. In all classes, except in "Greenhorn", each participant will complete a list of the throws that he will use in the different positions. The throw is announced by the judge before the performance. A correction is not permitted. Each exam may only be tossed with one rope; swapping the ropes during the competition is not permitted. The loop has to be thrown around the neck but does not have to be tightened. Classes with live animals only allows a easy-opening Breakaway Honda. This can be checked by the veterinarian and the judges before the competition. The throw is invalid and may not be repeated if - a throw, other than the announced throw, has been performed - a throw is not allowed in the class - only the horns are caught - the throw is subsequently corrected (for example, if the loop is caught on just one horn). - the roper drops the Coils during or immediately after the throw. - the distance line is exceeded In the throws around the hind legs, the loop must lay down in front of the hind legs so that the Calf would step into it and be caught on both legs. 8 af 11

9 For Hip shots the loop must lie on the hips and in front of the hind legs in a way that the animal would step into it and be caught on both legs. Horsemanship and Stockmanship are paramount in these competitions. The execution of the tasks is not about speed but about quality and style. The judges are required to punish violations at their discretion with a disqualification. Cattle events are conducted strictly in accordance with animal welfare rules in Denmark and are monitored by veterinarians. The present veterinarian has judge status and is entitled to cancel a competition at any time. From the points and times of the Vaquero classes Groundwork, Horseback and Breakaway the European Champion is determined. At equal points a jump-off is performed and The Vaquero Groundwork class will be held until a winner is determined. On the scoresheet of the respective class the judges enter a throw at "invalid" with 0 points and at "valid" with the corresponding points for the participant on the scoresheet. When timed out in Groundwork, 1 point deducted for every 20 seconds commenced. The judges are responsible for timekeeping and clearly announce the start and finish. The time is noted on the scoresheet and in case of a tie the time can be used to finde the winner. If there is a tie for first place, KO throws will be decided by the judges. The decisions of the two judges are binding. There is only one score per judge pair. Protests must be submitted in writing to the organizer. Slight changes / refinements to the rules are possible and will be published before the event. The judges are entitled to make changes in consultation with the participants during the event. In case of lack of time, the organizer reserves the right to cancel Team Joke Parcours. Changes will be announced before the start of the class. By registering, the starter accepts the rules of the competition. Left-handers have the same throws - but rotate counter-clockwise. 9 af 11

10 Horses Horses are available and are also provided by the riders. Taking your own horse is possible. It is possible to build a paddock. Bring your own fence material. We have 8 boxes available, so first to the mill principle. Hay / wrap and extra shavings for the box can be bought. Starter Number The number of starters per class is limited. The registration will be considered in the order of receipt of payment. Participants will be contacted if their registration arrives after reaching the maximum number of starters. A waiting list will be created. Insurance The insurance is the responsibility of the participants and must also cover the risks involved in equestrian events. The organizer rejects any liability. Accommodation It is possible to set up a tent on Double T Ranch. Rent a caravan at Double T Ranch incl. Electricity: (Available from thursday to monday) 4 persons: 355, - 5 persons: 385, persons: 435, - Blanket, pillows and bed linen: 10, - / persons The Double T Ranch has toilets and showers. Hotel Auning Kro, Distance from Double T Ranch 4.3 km. There are 10 rooms that can accommodate a maximum of 3 extra beds in each room for a surcharge. When booking, please inform "Double T Ranch". If all 10 rooms are booked, you will receive a 10% discount. Auning Camping, distance from Double T Ranch 5.1 km. They have 5 cabins for 4 people and 1 Luksus cabins for 6 people. Booking of cabins to d-t-s@mail.dk. They achieve 10% discount compared to the normal price. Rent a room from private. Distance from the Double T Ranch 2.3 km. Room 1 : 1-2 persons. 1 1/2 persons bed. 11 Catering Food and drinks are provided. Dinner on Saturday evening. Venizon on the grill with various accessories. Order Participants are asked to leave the facility as they found it. Dogs are welcome, but are lead on a leash. The farm dog is running free. Provisional procedure Friday from 3 pm free practice. Saturday and Sunday exams Ranch Roping EM (see schedule).
