3 A message from the Race Director: Thank you for registering for the Spring 2015 Girls on the Run 5K! We have been working diligently to bring you a well organized, fun, and safe event. Please read through this official event guide as it contains lots of important information to make your GOTR5K experience the best it can possibly be! Feel free to contact us prior to Saturday, May 30th with any additional questions. Girls, whether you knew it or not, your coaches have been preparing you and helping you train all season long to complete the GOTR5K! You ve worked hard over the last 12 weeks and whether you run, walk, or skip along the way, we cannot wait to see you cross that finish line on Sunday! is all about celebrating who you are, your special talents and unique gifts & the fact that you are one in a million! 4 SCHEDULE SATURDAY, MAY 30, :00-5:00pm: Early Bib & Guaranteed Tshirt Pick Up. Late race registration available. Flemington Woman s Club 43 Park Avenue Flemington, NJ. SUNDAY, MAY 31, :00pm: Girls on the Run 5K Event opens! Coach Check-In. 3:00-4:30pm: Bib pick up. Late race registration available. 3:00-6:15pm: T-shirt pick up. 3:00-4:30pm: GOTR Village activities: Happy Hair, Selfie Station, Team Meeting Area, Inspiration Station, Family Cheer Zone, Special appearance by pop singer, Kristina Lachaga 3:00-6:30pm: GOTR Merchandise Boutique Open. 4:15pm: Stretch Out & Warm Up with your team. 4:30pm: Begin lining up at the start with your team. 4:50pm: National Anthem and final instructions. 5:00pm: Girls on the Run 5K START! 5:15pm: Post run refreshments available. 5:30pm: Results & awards at Flemington Woman s Club 6:30pm: Event Concludes. page 4

5 CHECKLIST Read this event guide & 5K webpage Review latest team info as per your GOTR coach: (Meeting spot, bib pick up options, etc ) Set your GPS: Check latest weather forecast: (Sunglasses, sunscreen, rain gear. Event is rain or shine!) Pack a change of clothes: (Especially if you are grabbing a bite to eat afterward) Eat well & hydrate in the days leading to the 5K! Wear lime green GOTR &GOT program shirt Wear sneakers Bring race bib & pins: (If you picked yours up early. Bring back bib if you ordered one.) Bring spending money: (GOTR Merchandise for sale, cash & cc only) Be prepared for a GREAT DAY! page 5

6 PARKING: On street parking: Free on street parking is available throughout downtown Flemington. Please park in designated parking spots only. Pay special attention to posted parking signs and obey parking rules in accordance with Flemington Borough ordinances. Parking lots: While not exhaustive, here is a list of some suggested parking lots close to the GOTR Village. Liberty Village Premium Outlets: 1 Church Street Flemington, NJ Reading Flemington Middle School: 50 Court Street Flemington, NJ Municipal Parking Lot: located on Capner Street between Park Avenue and Abbott Court. Old Egg Auction: 84 Park Avenue Flemington, NJ Keep in mind that borough roads will be experiencing temporary and periodic road closures during the event. The safety of our participants is our number one concern and we ask for your patience & understanding should you need to wait a few minutes when attempting to drive home following the event. 7 I M HERE! WHAT DO I DO NOW? Step 1: Pick up your race bib & t-shirt. Coaches should check in! Step 2: Register to run if you haven t already done so! Step 3: Find your team at your Team Meeting Spot on the lawn. Step 4: Go have fun in the Village! Step 5: Meet back with your team for a team stretch & warm up. Step 6: Head over to the start line. Our super speedy competitive community runners in the first wave, all others line up in the second wave. Step 7: RUN! Step 8: Smile as you cross the finish line! Keep moving through the finishers chute, grab some water, and receive your finishers medal. Step 9: Head back to the GOTR Village for some light post-run refreshments. Step 10: Check out the race results & your official time on the porch of the Woman s Club. Step 11: Meet back up with family at your Team Meeting Spot. Step 12: Grab a bite! Head to Blue Fish Grill for the post 5K BBQ Bash. (Advanced ticket purchase was required.) Or head to Jersey Mike s! Show them your race bib & GOTR will receive 15% back. 8 The Girls on the Run Village Map *weather dependent & subject to change The Girls on the Run Village is our race headquarters and is located at 43 Park Ave Flemington, NJ This is where you will find race day registration, bib & shirt pick-up, coach, volunteer & sponsor checkin, as well as all of the fun GOTR pre-race activities! The start and finish line are located just a half a block away from the Village on Main Street. page 8

11 EVENT ETIQUETTE Event is a 5K like no other! We EXPECT you to have a great time! We have worked very hard to bring you a well organized, fun and safe event, but we need your help and cooperation so that the event runs smoothly! FOR OUR RUNNERS: There is a 2-wave start. The first wave is for our super speedy community supporters. No GOTR in this wave. The second wave is for our GOTR teams, families and all other recreational runners. Do not run more than 2 people side by side & always let another runner pass. Move to the side if you need to stop or walk. Be aware of your surroundings and always listen to event volunteers, police, and EMS. There are many tables at each water station & you don t have to take from the first one you see. Do not stop at the finish line - keep moving through the finisher s chute FOR OUR SPECTATORS: Do not impede the path of any runner throughout the course and at the finish. Be respectful of other spectators trying to get a glimpse of & cheer on their special runner. Always listen to our event volunteers, police, and EMS. Do not block or enter the finisher s chute for any reason. We ask that EVERYONE, runners & spectators alike, THANK OUR VOLUNTEERS! We literally couldn t run without them. page 11

12 SOME LAST MINUTE, FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS! WHERE IS EARLY BIB PICK UP & REGISTRATION? Early bib pick up & late registration is located at the Flemington Woman s Club. CAN I SIGN UP TO RUN ON RACE DAY? Yes! Registration is offered on 5/30 from 3-5:00pm & on Sunday 5/31 from 3-4:30pm. The fee is $35. Cash or check preferred. Credit card payments incur processing fees. CAN SOMEONE ELSE PICK UP MY BIB & TSHIRT? Yes, someone else can pick up your race bib & t-shirt. IS THE GOTR5K TIMED? We will be using the Chronotrack Timing System with disposable b-tags. IS THE GOTR5K FOR GIRLS ONLY? NO! The event is open to the public & all are welcome! ARE THERE AWARDS? Yes! Run results and awards will be available at the Flemington Woman s Club. CAN I RUN WITH A JOGGING STROLLER? Yes! We just ask that you begin at the back of the starting line pack and keep a keen eye out for others while on the course. IS THE EVENT PET FRIENDLY? To ensure the comfort, safety, welfare of all our participants, please keep your pets at home. CAN I WEAR MY IPOD DURING THE 5K? ipods and other personal listening devices utilizing headphones are prohibited. I CANNOT MAKE THE RUN, CAN I GET A REFUND? Unfortunately, we are unable to process any refunds. All registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable. I HAVE A QUESTION, WHO CAN I CONTACT?
