THIS IS HOW YOU RE MAKING A DIFFERENCE TODAY Sheridan House is committed to offering services to our community which give children and families the opportunity to reach their full, God- given potential- opportunities that might otherwise not be available due to impeding circumstances in the home. Each year Sheridan House impacts over 1,053,095 individuals! Here is a list of our ministries including the amount of children and families we helped last year: Marriage and Family Seminars & Pulpit supply: 87,496 ParentingOnPurpose.com and Weekday Radio Show on ReachFM: Each year the radio show reaches over 1.1 million listeners. Plus over 100,000 Smart- phone App downloads & podcast subscribers. Counseling Center: 4,702 sessions in 2014! Single Parent Ministry: We provide a hand- up not a handout to receive ongoing assistance single mothers attend classes designed to equip them for life. In ,140 single moms and children received training and assistance (food, clothing, school supplies, financial assistance, furniture and other material items). Residential Program for at- risk children: We provide residential care for middle school aged boys with behavioral and emotional issues. 109 children, parents and siblings received assistance in % of the proceeds from this event goes to supporting the Children s homes at Sheridan House. 4 DATE AND TIME Saturday, October 3, 2015 Parking opens at 7 am Entrance Gate opens at 7:20 am The competitive waves start at 8:40 am First regular wave starts at 8:45 am. All waves are timed. Competitors wear electronic timing chips (see page 6 for information on how to retrieve your time). LOCATION Sheridan House Family Ministries 1700 South Flamingo Road Davie, FL PARKING Parking is FREE for all guests at the Goliath Gauntlet! There is an optional early packet pickup at Dick's Sporting Goods in Plantation, Florida on Thursday, October 1 st from 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. As a supporter of the organization, Dick's Sporting Goods will be offering an exclusive discount of 20% OFF throughout the entire store ALL DAY on Thursday, October 1 st THRU OCTOBER 4 TH! 6 RACE DAY ARRIVAL We recommend that competitors arrive at least an hour before their wave starting time. They have to park, pick up their packet which includes a racing bib, get their timing chip, and then they need to make their way to the starting line in time for the start of their assigned wave. *If you picked up their race packet at Dick s Sporting Goods on October 1st [and are wearing your race Bib number on your shirt] you get to bypass registration and go directly to pick up your timing chip! START TIMES Only participants who registered on or before Sunday, September 27 th at 11:59pm (EDT) will appear on the link on the GoliathGauntlet.com website* on Monday 9/27 by 1 p.m.: Saturday, 10/03 start times will be available by 1:00 p.m. on Monday, *If friends, or other team members, register after September 27th they will get a confirmation the following day with their bib number and start time. RACE FINISHING TIMES Timed Events will attach a timing chip to each participant. 7 COMPETITIVE WAVE RULES & INSTRUCTIONS [for Competitive Waves only] 1. All competitors must start in the 8:30 a.m. competitive wave time. 2. All obstacles must be completed from start to finish. If a competitor fails to complete an obstacle they must start the obstacle over from the beginning. If a competitor is unable to complete an obstacle, they can still finish the race but will not be eligible for cash prizes. COMPETITIVE WAVE COMPETITORS MUST FINISH THE FINAL OBSTACLE JERICHO WITH NO HELP FROM FELLOW COMPETITORS OR ROPES. MALE COMPETITIVE WAVE PARTICIPANTS CANNOT USE THE SHORT 11 SIDE OF THE FINAL OBSTACLE JERICHO TO BE ELIGIBLE TO WIN MEN MUST USE THE 13 HIGH SIDE. WOMEN CAN USE EITHER SIDE. 3. The entire course must be run. If any competitor cuts the course or skips an obstacle they will be disqualified from any awards or prizes. 4. NO CLEATS OR METAL SPIKES 5. Competitors must not interfere or obstruct fellow competitors. 6. Time protests must be made by 10:00am to a Goliath Gauntlet Official at the finish line. 7. The course is well- marked stay inside the orange flags/cones & follow the signs. COMPETITIVE WAVE AWARDS We will be awarding the Top 2 Male and Top 2 Female Competitive Wave Participants: 1 st place male: $150 cash / $50 Gift Certificate for Dick s Sporting Goods / Plaque 2 nd place male: $100 cash / $50 Gift Certificate for Dick s Sporting Goods / Plaque 1 st place female: $150 cash / $50 Gift Certificate for Dick s Sporting Goods / Plaque 2 nd place female: $100 cash / $50 Gift Certificate for Dick s Sporting Goods / Plaque Prizes will be awarded at 9:30 am at the Finish Line area. Recipients must be present to accept award.* *Stay in the finish line area if you are in the top 5 finishers just in case someone is disqualified. 7 P age

8 TOP TEAM AWARDS We will be awarding the Team with the best finishing time! In order to do this, we will be combining the top five times from the team the week following the event. Team captains will be contacted and teams will be given a plaque to commemorate their team achievement. Team results will also be posted on the GoliathGauntlet.com website within 24 hours of the race. EVENT PHOTOGRAPHY There will be photographers stationed all around the course to catch the muddiest and sweatiest moments! Competitors will receive an once all the pictures have been uploaded to the following link: Participants be able to purchase prints and/or digital downloads. Proceeds from these sales go to support the at- risk children served by Sheridan House Family Ministries! SPECTATOR INFORMATION To register as a spectator go to: All spectators will receive: Access to obstacle course area. (However, to avoid getting run over, please stay away from the orange flags and cones that designate the race course and keep children close by your side). Access to awesome food trucks, music, vendors, and Goliath Gauntlet Gear. Each spectator will need to fill out a waiver. To expedite the check- in process, please print and sign a waiver and bring it with to the registration tables. (If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must also sign). All spectators will check- in by last name at the registration tables along with the race participants. Spectator tickets are $10 online or $10 day- of at the late- registration table for all you procrastinators! Children 12 & under are FREE. Parking is also FREE. 8 P age

9 WHAT PARTICIPANTS NEED TO BRING: Photo ID. If you pre- registered at Dick s Sporting Goods on October 1st you will wear your bib number [on before entering the gates] and proceed directly to the timing chip pick up tables. To get your bib # and wave time go to: If you did not sign a waiver online when registering you have the ability to print out the waiver and bring it to the registration tables (If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must sign as well). Proper and appropriate athletic attire is covered below. Proper shoes (do not run barefoot). No cleats or metal spikes. SUGGESTED ITEMS TO BRING: Spending money for Goliath Gear and Food Trucks Yum! Sunscreen. Consider wearing gloves to protect your hands. Gloves are not necessary but some competitors like gloves with rubber or leather on the inside to help with grip on the rings, ropes and walls. Mechanix Tactical gloves work well and can be found at Bennett Auto Supply. WHAT YOU SHOULD LEAVE AT HOME: Do not bring any of the following items to the Goliath Gauntlet: Alcoholic beverages are not permitted on the grounds or parking area. Outside Food or Beverage. Glass containers. No cleats or metal spikes. Pets (service dogs are permitted). Weapons. 9 P age

10 DRESS CODE (for competitors) The Goliath Gauntlet is a family- friendly event. Men, please leave the Speedos at home! Ladies, no need to bring your crop tops... There will be barbwire, wood, rope, poles, mud and rocks so please dress in a way that ensures you will be protected and comfortable! We recommend wearing a full length athletic tee shirt [for both men and women] so you can protect your body abnd wear your bib number. OPTIONAL BAG CHECK We will have an optional free bag check area located next to registration. (located at letter G on the map on page 13). This is offered as a courtesy and we are not responsible for lost or stolen items. *Competitors will receive their Goliath Gauntlet bag with goodies, awesome shirt, and finisher medal when they cross the finish line! LOST AND FOUND There will be a lost and found table in the bag check area (located at letter G on the map on page 13). We are not responsible for lost or stolen items. *WARNING: Those running with cameras or Go- Pros are at risk of losing them in our mud and water obstacles. It is always a good idea to place contact information on valuable items. Be sure to secure all items while on the course. WEATHER This is a rain or shine event (you are going to get wet and muddy anyway!). We do not intend to cancel or delay the event. However, lightning, tornado warnings, or tropical weather systems may provide cause for delays or postponement of the event. 11 LIFE GUARDS There will be six (6) American Red Cross certified Lifeguards posted at the water obstacles (obstacles #1, #7, #9, #10, #16 & 18). Volunteers at these obstacles will be aware and on guard to alert a lifeguard to someone who may need assistance. YUMMY FOOD TRUCKS Be sure to bring cash so you can grab some yummy food! A portion of sales go to support the ministries of Sheridan House! Food trucks are located at letter I on the map on page 13. FIRST AID STATION There will be an ambulance with EMS on property as well as a first aid station next to registration. First aid is located at letter F on the map on page P age
