2 WHERE: Shuford Stadium, Catawba College Salisbury, NC West Innes Street, Salisbury, NC Turn Left on West Innes at the traffic light Turn Left on North Park Turn Left on Yost Ketner Hall will be on the left Please PARK AT KETNER HALL. WHY: The Girls on the Run 5k is the culminating event of the 10-week program. Whether running, walking, skipping or jumping across the finish line on 5k day, completing a 5k is a goal set by the girls at the beginning of the program. Proceeds benefit Girls on the Run serving the Greater Piedmont, so all girls who wish to participate in the program have the opportunity regardless of financial limitations. IMPORTANT NOTES: Your GOTR girl is already registered and paid. Simply find your team flag upon arrival and check in with your Coach. (See page 4 for team flag information) All Running Buddies must check in at the Purple Registration Tent If your daughter s Running Buddy has not yet registered, please be sure to bring the $15 registration fee on the race day. (Cash and credit accepted) Once the Running Buddy is registered, head to your team s flag and check in with the team s coach. Entries are non refundable and non-transferable under any circumstances. WHAT TO WEAR: Girls on the Run Program Participants should wear their GOLD GOTR Program t-shirt during the 5k! This program t-shirt identifies GOTR girls so our volunteers know that she receives a medal when she crosses the finish line. TEAM UNITY: We encourage each GOTR team to be creative to make their group stand out! This is fun tradition at the GOTR 5ks. Prior to 5k day teams can decorate program t-shirts, or plan to wear unique headbands, capes, tutus, or other fun, creative items to embrace the uniqueness of their team.

3 IMPORTANT SAFETY MESSAGE: This course is an OPEN course, meaning girls will be running on an open road. Please do not allow your girls to wear ear buds or headphones. We ll have volunteers throughout the course to help with traffic and cones will be setup, but safety is the most important thing. DO NOT CROSS OVER THE CONES on Statesville Boulevard- there is traffic on that side of the cones! RUNNER ETIQUETTE: v Move to the right side if you need to stop or walk. v Be aware of your surroundings; always listen to event volunteers, police, & EMS. v There will be tables on both sides of the road at the water station. v Do not stop at the finish line - keep moving through the finisher s chute. SPECTATOR ETIQUETTE: Do not impede the path of any runner throughout the course and at the finish. Be respectful of other spectators trying to get a glimpse of & cheer on their special runner. Always listen to our event volunteers, police, and EMS. Do not block or enter the finisher s chute for any reason.

5 GENERAL EVENT INFORMATION Food/Beverages: Weather: Pet/Stroller Policy: Merchandise Sales: Restrooms: Please make sure your daughter is well hydrated! There will be 1 water stop on the course and water will also be available at the finish line. All 5k participants are welcome to join us at the refreshment table for fruit and snacks AFTER they complete the run. Stadium concessions will be open coffee; hot chocolate etc will be available for purchase. The 5k will go on regardless of inclement weather, so be sure to dress for the weather! The GOTR Staff will determine if we will require a delayed start if we experience thunder or lightning prior to the beginning of the 5k start. We do not have a weather makeup date. For safety, all furry friends are not allowed on the course or at the event, so please leave all pets at home on 5k day! Strollers and jogging strollers are welcome; please line up behind the girls. Get your GOTR Gear! Don t forget to bring cash or credit cards to purchase items from our GOTR Shop Merchandise Tent! Restrooms are available underneath the bleachers. Additional Questions? 6 Course Description: Runners will start on the road in front of Shuford Stadium. There will be signs, a runner lead and lots of Course Marshals to help show you what direction you are running. Runners will proceed through a section on Statesville and through some residential areas. The course comes back the same way, and the finish is on the track at the football field! All GOTR girls will receive a 5k medal. COURSE MAP: Running Buddy 411: Running Buddies can register online HERE. Online registration will close on Friday, December 8, 2016 at 9pm. For the most convenient race day experience possible, we STRONGLY recommend that ALL Running Buddies register online. On Race Day all Running Buddies will check in at the purple tent for bib and t-shirt pick-up. After receiving those items meet your girl on the run and check in with their Coach at their team flag.
