First, it's up the river valley, a sunny hike across quartzite rock to the gully used to access the Kloof. Then it's down to the stream with magnificent cliffs closing in around you, wading through crystal clear pools, clambering over massive boulders as you wind up the watercourse. The pace is hectic, so when you stop for a well-deserved lunch you'll be keen to rest under the shade of the trees in the cool forested gorge. Then descending, adrenalin pumps as you enjoy the vertical adventures of abseiling down a waterfall, plunging into pools and the thrill of sliding down smooth stone alongside the stream in this beautiful gorge. The descent may be faster, but it'll leave you breathless! Useful Information The Kloofing is from 09h00 to 16h30. The cost includes GoVertical Mountaineering guides, all adventure gear, entrance permits and a hiker's lunch in the gorge. 2 Date & Time Schedule: 16th - 19th December 2010 The Sabie Experience is a four-day MTB stage race where the stages begin and end at the York Timbers sports grounds every day. The teams of two riders make their way along different routes in the mountains and forests surrounding the town. Categories are: Open Men; Open Women; Mixed; Sub Veteran; Veteran; and Masters with cash prizes for the overall winners. The Sabie Experience Lite has been added to the mix this year, allowing any combination of ages and gender for riders 15 years or older. It is a timed event for pairs or individuals and distances are between 20km and 40km per day. There are no prizes for this event but each rider will get formal time. Entries close when the full field of 350 entrants is reached. Accommodation becomes a premium, so you should book accommodation as soon as your entry is confirmed. Entries are official once full payment is received. Teams are expected to carry sufficient water and nutrition for at least 45km. Why Go Sun International has announced that tickets for the 30th Nedbank Golf Challenge, to be played between the 1st and 5th of December 2010 at the Gary Player Country in Sun City, are now on sale. Available from Computicket outlets, a limited amount of the tickets for the 30th anniversary event have been issued, and a high demand is expected. This will be a rather special year as we celebrate the 30th Nedbank Golf Challenge, and we are planning to ensure

3 that the tournament, as well as special events surrounding the event, will prove to be most memorable, says tournament director Alastair Roper. Tickets for the Pro-Am to be played on Wednesday the 1st of December are priced at R80.00 for adults, and children up to the age of 17 will be admitted without charge. Entry to the first two rounds, played on the 2nd and 3rd of December, will cost R for adults, R90.00 for children between the ages of 12 and 17, with under-12s allowed in free. Prices of the tickets for the final two rounds are R for adults, R for children between the ages of 12 and 17, with children under the age of 12 free of charge. All tickets for adults during the tournament will include a complimentary official program. Tickets for the Challenge Club, which offers fans use of a private and exclusive air-conditioned marquee, easy access to and from the golf course as well as private restroom and food and beverage areas, will be available at R per day. This includes tournament access. We have always prided ourselves in offering every spectator at the event the very best experience and with the increasing interest in the tournament, we will be limiting the galleries to ensure that there is no over-crowding, says Roper. At last year s event, we had over 65,000 spectators in total, all of whom were comfortably accommodated. With the increased demand expected this year, we are limiting the number of adult tickets to 10,000 per day, and same amount for children. We have continued our policy of allowing children under the age of 12 to watch the best golfers in action for free, as we believe that this is critical to growing the interest and participation in the sport. Contracts with the 12 players that will be competing in this year s Nedbank Golf Challenge are still being finalised, but the tournament organisers are confident of again hosting a star-studded field as well as other special events that are guaranteed to thrill golf fans. It continuously attracts top athletes, recreational athletes and entire families from all over the country. It grows in stature every year, with participation growing about 15% year on year for the past five years. There are some exciting changes in store for 2010, due to requests from athletes themselves, although the event keeps to its four events. They are, however, being spread out over the year to draw more interest and to avoid conflicting with the 2010 Soccer World Cup. Useful Information Late payments that do not follow an entry form incur a penalty fee of R40. Rookie events begin at 07h00 and Pro-Am Events begin at 07h20. The race briefing takes place on the Grass Sundeck at 06h45. Wetsuits are allowed for all events, and all athletes must wear the swim caps provided. When they reach the R45, riders will take a right and continue past Drakenstein Correctional Centre towards Paarl, hugging the vineyards alongside the mountains and joining the R301 to Wellington. After the left-turn onto the R44, riders will ride along the Agter Paarl Road and over the last rolling hills for the day before heading back to the finish in Stellenbosch. 44km Route: Participants will follow the long route riders up and over the Old Helshoogte Pass and through Pniel. From there, the route will split just after the railway line at Boschendal and cyclists will take a left onto the R45. The two routes join again on the R44, about 15km before the finish in Stellenbosch. Trail running generally takes place on hiking trails, most commonly single track trails, although fire roads are not uncommon. A distinguishing characteristic of the trails is that they are often inaccessible by road except at the trail heads. The trails tend to traverse varying terrain; hills, mountains, deserts, forests, and narrow passages are common. Likewise, steep inclines or rough terrain sometimes may require hiking or scrambling. Runners participating in trail runs must often descend these same steep grades. It is not unusual for trail runs to ascend and descend thousands of feet. The race is run through three historical landmarks: Fort Schanskop, which was built in 1897; the Voortrekker Monument; and Freedom Park.
