2 WELCOME WHAT S NEXT Thank you for being a part of our 2015 IRONMAN VIP Program at IRONMAN Lake Placid. This Information Guide will prepare you for your spectating experience, equipping you with VIP locations, schedules, and more. Please feel free to contact us with any questions, comments, or concerns. Sincerely, Kristen Riker IRONMAN VIP Services Coordinator PRE-RACE ( ) Prior to race day you may visit the VIP Services tent located in IRONMAN Village (address on page 3) to pick up your VIP wristband for race day entry. Once you have received your credentials, we encourage you to enjoy IRONMAN Village and familiarize yourself with this guide for easier spectating on race day. RACE DAY ( ) VIP wristbands will be required for all guests and will be available for pickup on race day at the VIP Viewing locations. Please note that the VIP pass is only intended for the single person that has the pass reserved in his or her name. We look forward to seeing you at the event! 2

7 RACE COURSE MAPS Swim The two loop swim takes place in Mirror Lake, a calm, pristine lake right in the heart of Lake Placid. It s an excellent spectator course. The water temperature is typically in the high 60s to low 70s. The swim is a rolling start keeping all swim buoys to your right. Each athlete will exit the water and run on the beach before entering swim entrance for second lap. Athletes will enter the water in a continuous stream through a controlled access point, similar to how running road races are started. An athlete s times will start when they cross timing mats under the swim arch. Athletes will be directed to self-seed on race morning based on their projected swim time. Volunteers and staff will be in the staging area with signs and will assist with this process. Self-seeding will not be mandatory but will be encouraged. All athletes will have access to a dedicated warm-up area in the water located adjacent to the swim start. VIP Viewing Locations 7

8 RACE COURSE MAPS Bike The demanding two-loop bike course takes cyclists through the surrounding hills of the Adirondacks, each lap culminating with the 11-mile climb up "the notch" from Wilmington back to the transition area located at the famed speed skating oval. 8

9 RACE COURSE MAPS Run The two-loop course will challenge athletes with a tour through the city center four times. Runners head past the famed Olympic ski jumps, down to the turnaround on scenic River Road and then back up to the turnaround on the shores of Mirror Lake. 9
