1 IMPORTANT INFORMATION: 2014 Special Olympics Summer Games Hello and welcome to the 2014 Special Olympics Delaware Summer Games! The following information is intended to help make your experience at the Summer Games as pleasant as possible. Please take the time to read over the information and if you have any questions, feel free to contact us at or IMPORTANT: ARRIVING/PARKING AT UNIVERSITY OF DELAWARE The 2014 Summer Games is coinciding with several events that are taking place on the campus of the University of Delaware, including alumni weekend and several high school graduations. Please note the following special parking instructions for venues: UD Field House complex (BOCCE AND TENNIS): Parking is available ONLY in front of the Field House or the Ice Arena. Do NOT use the main stadium entrance and do not park in the Bob Carpenter Center lot in front of or behind the BCC or in the paved lot in front of the Football Stadium. For quickest access to parking, enter the parking lot at the entrance off Route 896 between the Field House and the Ice Arena. Arrive early and allow plenty of time to park and get to your venue. Outdoor Track behind UD Stadium (TRACK & FIELD): Parking is available in the lot behind the Bob Carpenter Center. When arriving at UD, enter through the entrance off of Route 4 (Chestnut Hill Road) located near the soccer fields. Do NOT enter through the entrances on South College Avenue (Route 896) or you will be re-directed to the Route 4 entrance. Arrive early and allow plenty of time to park and get to your venue. - North Campus (AQUATICS & POWERLIFTING): Parking is located in the big lot on the west side of North College Avenue between Main Street and Cleveland Avenue. It is a short walk from the parking lot to the, but a shuttle is also available. Arrive early and allow plenty of time to park and get to your venue. Handloff Park (SOFTBALL): There is plenty of parking in the park s parking lots. Bob Carpenter Center (OPENING CEREMONY): By 4:00pm on Friday, parking will be available in the paved lot in front of the football stadium or in front of the Delaware Field House or Ice Arena. Handicap parking is available in the lot directly in front of the Bob Carpenter Center. FOR ALL VENUES: Adhere to all posted restrictions and only park in legally marked spaces. If you choose to park in metered spaces or in a parking lot or garage that charges a fee, you will be responsible for the cost. Special Olympics Delaware and the University of Delaware are not responsible for and will not cover the costs of tickets or towing as the result of illegal parking.

2 IMPORTANT INFORMATION: 2014 Special Olympics Summer Games (continued) TRANSPORTATION WHILE AT SUMMER GAMES Sports Venues: Buses are available to transport Summer Games participants, including volunteers, parents and spectators, between competition venues during competition hours. Bus stops will be well marked with signs indicating where shuttles are making stops. (Note: not all shuttles will stop at every location). Opening Ceremony and Family Barbecue: Shuttles after the Opening Ceremony/Family Barbecue will be restricted to only those participants staying overnight in the residence halls. So if a family parks at Handloff Park for softball or the for aquatics, that family must re-park their cars at the Bob Carpenter Center for the Opening Ceremony as transportation for families and spectators will NOT be provided after the Opening Ceremony/BBQ. SPECIAL EVENTS AT SUMMER GAMES Come and witness the spirit and splendor of Special Olympics... help celebrate our athletes at Opening Ceremony and welcome the Delaware Law Enforcement Torch Runners! Team Delaware will also be recognized as part of our festivities! Opening Ceremony: Friday, June 6, beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the Bob Carpenter Center Athletes should report with their teams to the Bob Carpenter Center by 4:30 p.m. There is designated seating for each Area for athletes and coaches only. Parents and spectators will be directed to seating. Team Delaware Delegation: Meet in the new lobby at the Bob by 4:30pm. Dance and Family BBQ: Friday, 6:00 7:30pm Dance the night away and have some fun with your friends and family! Everyone is invited to attend the family bbq (featuring Woodside Farms Creamery ice cream! DIRECTIONS TO: University of Delaware (Bocce, Tennis, Track & Field): Take I-95 to Delaware exit Rt. 896N. For Track & Field - use the entrance from Rt. 4 and head to the back of the Bob Carpenter Center. For Tennis and Bocce - use the entrance to the UD Field House and Ice Skating arena.
