3 MHVAC-DTSM Introduction Introduction The MDV-D (Digital Scroll Air Conditioner) air conditioning system is operated by a variable-capacity compressor and is accommodated by multiple evaporators (indoor units). It is considered as the next-generation modular system with high efficiency air conditioning in the world. It has undoubtedly changed the face of cooling associated with high-storied buildings. It provides a broad range of different applications for settings such as offices, hotels and schools. With the advantage of easy installation and simple controlling system and so on, the MDV-D system can meet the demands of the air conditioning market better. Introduction 1

9 MHVAC-DTSM Features 5.1 Variable-capacity compressor Features The world s first PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) compressor controls the cooling and heating capacity automatically according to the load. 5.2 Principle of the digital scroll compressor: Composition The solenoid valve is installed for the compressor s loading/ unloading between the upper part of the fixed scroll and the suction pipe Mechanism a. When the solenoid valve is turned off, the fixed scroll is close to the orbiting (Loading). b. When the solenoid valve is turned on, the fixed scroll is separated from the orbiting scroll. (Unloading). c. This process controls the On / Off time of the valve and the rotating refrigerants in the circle thus adjusting the capacity. d. The cooling capacity of the outdoor units is adjusted automatically, according to the number of operating indoor unit(s). General Information 7
10 Features MHVAC-DTSM PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) Valve PWM valve is the valve to take away the fixed scroll by lifting up through the difference of pressure after the digital scroll compressor being connected to the outlet and inlet of suction. Therefore, the capacity of compressor is controlled automatically according to the operation status such as loading when the valve is closed or unloading when the valve is opened. PWM means the ON/OFF signal to the valve for loading /unloading. 5.3 High efficiency 5.4 Long & single piping system Digital scroll system is the only system that is free of oil separator and oil recycling equipment. In the loading state, the speed of the refrigerant is enough to move oil back to the compressor. The max. pipe length between indoor unit and outdoor unit is 175m. The max. height difference between indoor unit and outdoor unit is 70m. The max. distance between the first branch to the farthest indoor unit is 40m. The max. height difference between indoor units is 15m. 5.5 Free combination, wide capacity range 5 basic modules, which can be freely assembled. 2HP increments of capacity range, which meets customer s needs accurately. 11 MHVAC-DTSM Features 5.6 Patented design, running reliable Gas balance MDV-D adopts unique gas balance device among compressors, which balancing the gas suction volume among different compressors. 5.7 High air volume & low noise New designed inner hidden duct circle improve outlet air field decrease fan noise and boost fan efficiency. The grille of fan air inlet and fan air outlet has airflow direction adjusting function, which leads to lower pressure. Adopt dual turbofan which makes bigger airflow volume with lower noise. 5.8 High efficient heat-exchanger & precisely refrigerant control Adopt inner-screw copper heat-exchanger, which creates higher heat exchange efficiency and powerful heating capacity especially in low ambient temperature. Outdoor heat-exchange area can be adjusted by running load. MDV-D adopts dual EXV,which achieves up to 960 steps refrigerant adjusting precision to insure precise control of refrigerant and raise system circulation efficiency. General Information 9

MHVAC-DTSM The combination of one main and one auxiliary four way valve can control the outdoor heat exchanger and outdoor air flow independently. And according to the load adjust the heat exchange volume of outdoor unit accurately and prevent wasting the capacity in part load time. Indoor units installation: each series of indoor units have the same pipe dimension, and all the pipes are connected by flare nut, so it is easy to connect and decrease your installation cost up to 30% Independent system The MDV-D system can be installed by stages and the owners can install their system at their convenient time. Thus the system has less installation time limit. The Midea 3 rd generation network control system can realize intelligent management to the A/C system, it adopts Lonworks protocol and can be connected to the BMS: 1 computer can control max 16 indoor CCM and monitor 16 outdoor CCM; 1 indoor CCM can max control 64 indoor units; 1 outdoor CCM can max monitor 32 outdoor units; So 1 Computer can control max 1024 indoor units and monitor 512 outdoor units Healthy and more comfortable Accurate temperature control Adopting high speed DSP processing chip and stepless control to insure small temperature fluctuate. 16 General Instruction 1. General Instruction MHVAC-DTSM Indoor Unit Selection Enter INDOOR UNIT CAPACITY TABLES at given indoor and outdoor temperature. Select the unit that the capacity is the nearest to and greater than given load. Note:Individual indoor unit capacity is subject to change by the combination. Actual capacity has to be calculated according to the combination by using outdoor unit capacity table. 1.2 Outdoor Unit Selection Allowable combinations are indicated in INDOOR UNIT COMBINATION TOTAL CAPACITY INDEX TABLE. In general, outdoor unit can be selected as follows though the location of the unit, zoning and usage of the rooms may be considered. The indoor and outdoor unit combination is determined that the sum of indoor unit capacity index is nearest to and smaller than the capacity index at 100% combination ratio of each outdoor unit. Up to 8~16 indoor units can be connected to one outdoor unit. It is recommended to choose a larger outdoor unit if the installation space is large enough. If the combination ratio is greater than 100%, the indoor unit selection shall be reviewed by using actual capacity of each indoor unit. Determine correct table according to the outdoor unit model and combination ratio. Enter the table at given indoor and outdoor temperature and find the outdoor unit capacity and power input. The individual indoor unit capacity (power input) can by calculated as follows. IUC=OUC INX/TNX Where, IUC: Each indoor unit capacity OUC: Outdoors unit capacity INX: Each indoor unit capacity index TNX: Total capacity index Then, correct the indoor unit capacity according to the piping length. Service Space 3.1 Power supply equipment is preferred to be installed by the side of the outdoor unit. 3.2 Ensure there is sufficient space for the maintenance of the outdoor unit. The modules in the same system must be on the same height. 3.3 Proper space between outdoor units should be kept. 3.4 Distance between ground bolt is shown below: (Note: Outdoor units in the same system should be located in the same level. 25 MHVAC-DTSM Outdoor units are lower than the surrounding obstacles Service Space If the outdoor units are lower than the surrounding obstacles, in order to ensure an effective heat exchange a conduit is strongly recommended to help the heat emission and avoid the discharging air being absorbed into the system again. The conduit is made on the installation spot with the height HD=H-h. Note Because the outdoor fan motor has no enough static pressure, the Max. Length should be less than 3meters. 3.7 When there are obstacles above the outdoor unit: Note: If miscellaneous articles are piled around the outdoor unit, such articles must be 800mm below the top of the outdoor unit. Otherwise, a mechanic exhaust device must be added. Outdoor Units 23
26 Piping Diagramse 4. Piping Diagrams 4.1 Refrigerant System Diagram There s no constant speed compressor F2 in the HP system. MHVAC-DTSM Function of key parts ST1: when the operating mode of A/C system changes, turn the flow direction of the refrigerant; ST2: change the heat exchanger area according to the load in cooling mode; EXV: adjust the refrigerant flux; SV1: when there is more than one module in the combination, SV1 is used to cut off the refrigerant flow among modular. If the module is in standby mode, Sv1 will be closed and refrigerant can t enter the module; SV2: cooling down the compressor when the discharge gas temperature of any compressor is more than 100C ; SV3: adjust heat-exchanger area of outdoor when in heating mode; SV5: used when starting heating mode or defrosting mode; SV6: adjust the refrigerant flux in cooling mode. And in heating mode it will be always open 4.3 How to check the valves: a) Electronic Expansion Valve (EXV): when the outdoor unit is power on, the two EXVs firstly close with 700p,then they open with 350p and enter standby mode, two EXVs action is not at the same time. b) Electromagnetic Valve: when the outdoor unit is power on, the SV1 open immediately, so you can check the valve as soon as the outdoor unit is power on; when the compressor starts working in heating mode, the SV3 is open immediately, so you can check the valve as soon as the compressor start; 5 minutes after the outdoor unit start heating mode,sv5 will open; when the compressor starts working in cooling mode, the SV6 open immediately, so you can check the valve as soon as the compressor starts; control the discharge temperature by adjusting the resistance of the temperature sensor, when the discharge temperature is higher than 105 SV2 open immediately. c) Four way valve: when starting heating mode, main four-way valve ST1 turn direction after the compressor has worked for 55s; when the capacity demanded by the indoor unit is less than 12,the auxiliary four-way valve ST2 turn direction.
