4 Welcome On behalf of Tribe Triathlon Club, as Race Director I would like to welcome all competitors and supporters to the spectacle that is the Fox Creek MTB Duathlon. This event is run in the beautiful Adelaide Hills. My team and I hope you enjoy the day. Now in its tenth year, the event has grown from strength to strength and we strive to give competitors the most fun, relaxed atmosphere, hard work and exhilarating time that we can. 5 Race Registration Registration is online. Please visit the race website; foxmtbduathlon.com.au. Race Numbers Each Race Pack will include a run and bike number and a timing chip. The run number must be displayed on your front during the run. The bike number must be affixed to the front of the bike. Safety pins and cable ties will be provided in the race pack. The timing chip is to be worn on the LEFT ankle using the supplied soft ankle strap. Teams Each race distance can be completed by a team of two or three competitors. The run number provided must be displayed of the front of the runner s shirt (if there are separate competitors for each run leg, the number must be transferred). The bike number must be attached to the front of the bike. The competitor completing the bike leg does not need to be wearing the run number. The timing chip must be worn by each competitor on the LEFT ankle for all team members (including runners) and handed over in transition. Race Rules and Etiquette No Mobile Phones, ipods or other MP3 Players/mobile devices. As much of the bike course is single trail, when approaching a slower rider, call out to inform them you wish to pass, and over-take only when safe. If being over-taken, hold a consistent line to one side of the path to allow the faster rider through when there is enough space and it is safe. Outside assistance, such as passing of drink bottles, food or clothing is not allowed. No empty drink bottles or food wrappers are to be discarded on the course. Cyclists must have their helmet on and fastened before removing their bike from the racks. They must also rack their bike at the end of the ride before removing their helmet. A cyclist in front has right of way when negotiating an obstacle, however a person pushing their bike through any part of the course must give way to a person riding the course. All competitors must obey any instruction from any course marshal. Cut-Off Times To ensure the event finishes at a reasonable time there will be cut-off times for the end of the bike leg for each distance. If competitors have not finished the bike leg by the times listed below, they will not be allowed to commence the final run leg. Accordingly, it is important that people select a race distance that is suitable to their skill and ability level. Note that the Enduro course distance is only suitable for experienced athletes with mountain bike experience. Page 5 Last Updated 28/02/18

6 To enable presentations to be made in a timely manner, they will commence no later than 1:00pm. This may mean some competitors are still out on the course, however their time will still be recorded and published provided they meet the cut-off time. Race Results and Photos Race results will be posted on the race website, including splits for each leg. Contingency Plan and Cancellation Policy To ensure the safety of competitors and minimise damage to the course, the event may be shortened or cancelled in the case of extreme weather conditions. In the event of 200mm of rainfall in the 48 hours prior to the race, the event will be cancelled. In the event of 100mm of rainfall in the 48 hours prior to the race, the event will be shortened, at the organisers discretion. Thunderstorms or other extreme weather, which may jeopardise the safety of participants, shall result in cancellation. The decision to cancel is solely at the discretion of race organisers. In the case of the event being cancelled, every endeavour will be made to inform competitors via and a message will be posted on the race website. If the event is cancelled, race fees will be refunded, however a $15 administration fee will be withheld. If a competitor withdraws from the event no refund of the race fee will be given. Race Day Information Race Day Check In and Set Up Competitor Race Packs can be collected on the morning of the race from the rear of the house. The pack will include run and bike numbers with pins and cable ties to attach them and race day instructions along with the electronic timing chip. Bikes will need to be racked and other equipment set up in transition prior to the cut off time of 9:20am. For safety reasons, access to transition will not be permitted after this time. 7 Electronic Timing This year we will be utilising electronic timing. The RFID chip must be worn on the LEFT ankle (this keeps it away from chain-rings on bikes and will be on the side on the timing antenna). All chips must be returned at the end of the race. There will be a box provided just after the finish line for this purpose. If you withdraw from the race please let the timers know and return the chip to them. All chips are numbered and if any are missing we will be chasing you for it. If you inadvertently take it home please contact us via the in the contact us section on the website. Competitor Briefing All competitors must attend the mandatory pre-race briefing adjacent to transition at 9:05am. Aid Stations and Feed Station On the run course, drink stations will be provided where only water will be available to competitors. On the bike course there will be no aid stations, however there will be a table below the commentary tent where competitors can place any personal food or drinks which they can access at the end of each lap. This is applicable for Long and Enduro course competitors only. It is the competitor s responsibility to manage their own food and drinks and collect any leftover or empty containers after the race. Competitors cannot accept nutrition from spectators. Refreshments and Food Free tea, coffee and homemade food will be available for all competitors and spectators on race day. After the race, sausages will also be available. Toilets Two toilets are available in the house and a port-a-loo near transition. Collection of Bikes After the last competitor has commenced the final run leg, there will be free access to transition. Prior to this, access is only permitted with the agreement of the attending marshal. Presentations Presentations will be held no later than 1:00pm. Awards will be given to 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd male and female and 1 st team for each race distance as well as to 1 st place in each age group. Following the formal presentation random draw prizes will be drawn. Your run number must be placed in the box provided to be eligible. To accept a random draw prize you must be present.
