Only 122 days are left until we greet the first ships visiting Szczecin for The Tall Ships Races This means that preparations are going full steam ahead. All of this to ensure that Szczecin, for the third time, can become the sailing capital of Europe.

3 Where and When? Even though our event schedule is still a work in progress, we can show you a few of the things to come. The event starts on 5 August (Saturday), but tourists and locals visiting Łasztownia island and the Wały Chrobrego embankment can expect the celebration to begin as early as Friday. At 4:00 P.M. on 4 August an amusement park located on both banks of the Oder will open its gates to visitors. It will be prepared by our neighbours from the Czech Republic and Germany. There will be a Ferris wheel, a Vmaxx funfair ride travelling at an astonishing speed of 120 km/h and... the largest chain carousel in Europe providing fun at 80 metres above the ground! The popular Kid Zone will also be available in Adama Mickiewicza square. Each day you will have the chance to take part in samba, sand sculpture and brass band festivals on the other side of the Oder, at the Old Town quay. The European and Sail markets will also be there for your convenience. If you are looking for something to eat, food trucks from all over the country will visit Łasztownia island. They will arrive to participate in the Food Truck Taste Festival, which will accompany The Tall Ships Races. Food on wheels can be found in the

A Sports Zone will be set up not far away, on Wyspa Grodzka island. For the first time in the history of the event visitors will be able to use a mobile supermarket located in the northern part of Łasztownia island. This initiative is in response to visitors' feedback from 2013 about the relatively high prices of basic goods (e.g. water) in the local stores and a lack of alternative shopping options for the event. Sailors and cinema aficionados will surely enjoy yet another addition to The Tall Ships Races in the form of the Maritime Film Festival, which will take place in a tent set up in Żeromskiego park. Additionally, there will be a container placed on the boulevard near the Most Długi bridge, which will serve as an information point and a stage at the same time (depending on the time of day). We also remembered about such well known events as evening concerts on the main stage placed by the Wały Chrobrego embankment, class A and B ship tours, the Crew Parade which will go through the city to the Teatr Letni theatre and the Saturday fireworks show (after the Andrea Bocelli concert). 5 Ahoy, Crew! The representative crew will include 126 people. They will sail the Halmstad (Swede) >>> Kotka (Finland) >>> Turku (Finland) >>> Klaipėda (Lithuania) >>> Szczecin route on board three vessels: the Fryderk Chopin, the Urtica and the Zryw. Recruitment to the Szczecin representative team for The Tall Ships Races 2017 will take place until 18 April. The blue-claret team will promote Szczecin during the race on the Baltic Sea while at the same time experiencing a grand, maritime adventure. Our city crew has been bringing glory to Szczecin in The Tall Ships Races for the last 12 years! During this time span the crew has received multiple awards, including the coveted Friendship Trophy. The Szczecin crew has won this award three times in a row, in 2014, 2015 and The award is granted to the most friendly and universally liked crew by the captains of other vessels, who vote during the races. 6 Promotion A series of films with international players from Szczecin sports clubs and teams who encourage viewers to visit the city during The Tall Ships Races finale is the latest addition to our promotional portfolio. They are being published on the official fanpage of the Nearly 30,000 people have already followed the page! Additionally, information about the event is displayed in ticket office windows on train stations. This is a way to inform passengers (not only travelling to and from Szczecin) about the grand finale. All of this was made possible thanks to cooperation with the POLREGIO train company. The grand finale of The Tall Ships Races in Szczecin will be commemorated by the Polish Post Office with a special, commemorative stamp! The Polish Post Office has confirmed the planned publication of The Tall Ships Races Szczecin 2017 stamp. In accordance with our plan The Tall Ships Races 2017 are promoted using various methods. We are active on the Internet and on social media. We are printing and distributing leaflets, billboards, sails, flags, etc. We are also manufacturing memorabilia. We visit trade shows as well. We do our best to invite not only citizens of the city and the region, but also visitors from other towns and voivodships as well as from neighbouring countries. In late March and early April the Gryfus Bike Club visited Malmö wearing shirts with the TSR logo, taking a plethora of promotional materials to Sweden.

The first version of The Tall Ships Races schedule and accompanying event calendar should be available shortly. The Media section includes all the published press releases and newsletters. You can also download a photo package to be used in press publications. The media accreditation process will start in May.
