The liquor license is still underway. We now have the go ahead to fix up the grass area by the boat ramp. I would like to have some outdoor activities there.

I would like to thank John Johnck and Pierre Boyer for installing the decorations and Dale Herman of the Windjammers for getting the bathrooms, back store room and the locks squared away. The liquor license is still underway. We now have the go ahead to fix up the grass area by the boat ramp. I would like to have some outdoor activities there. We need volunteers to help with, gardening, cleanup, and fix up so we can all enjoy it for outdoor activities. Your board is looking for additional feedback and input for how you would like to see the clubhouse evolve. Please me or any board member with your suggestions, ideas, and thoughts. Activities Calendar 2015 I would like to encourage everyone to utilize the website for the latest information and details of activities and meetings. You will find a live, active calendar that is the most current up to date source for information on all the activities. When looking at the calendar remember to click on the event that interest you and you will see all the details for that particular e vent. Facebook I would also encourage everyone to follow the South Lake Tahoe Yacht Club Facebook Page. We are using it to show fun photos of our club activities. We are also posting items such as Peek into the Past and Where in the World is the Burgee. Check it out and be sure to like it! We have had many great activities this summer so far! There are many more to come as well! It has been great working with and visiting with everyone. 2 Heave Ho VICE COMMODORE S REPORT Lake Tahoe in the summer! Aaahh, it doesn t get much better than this, especially the months of July and August. It is hard to believe that we are almost halfway through the summer boating season. I m sure by now you have noticed how many activities have been scheduled this summer. It has been busy, that is for sure. And now that the weather is cooperating, so much the better! Yes, we like rain/thunder/ lightening.but not on days that we have events. Please let us know if you have any suggestions on other activities to put on the calendar (this year or next!). West Shore Café on Friday July 10 th was a hit, as always. The weather was a little threatening that day, so those without cuddies could not boat in and back without some assurance of NOT getting stormed on. However, our new members Dave and Jody Taylor were able to boat in with their sailboat! So jealous! For the first time in 10+ years, we had to move from the pier to the inside of the restaurant. The South Lake Tahoe Yacht Club took over the inside of the West Shore Café restaurant s South corner and enjoyed the great food/ wonderful camaraderie of members and the very hospitable waite staff. Marty and Leslie DeTarr opened up their lovely home for a TGIF on July 17 th. It was again a wonderful evening and my favorite part is sitting around the fire pit and catching up! Thank you to the DeTarr s! For those of you who were not able to purchase tickets back in March 2015 for the SOLD OUT performance on July 20th Broadway at the Beach at Sand Harbor featuring the Reno Philharmonic event IT WAS WONDERFUL! Pierre Boyer was the cruise captain and the lucky 18 of us who attended were awestruck! This is a very fun event that we need to make a part of the permanent venue for the club. Cheers! At the time of this article, we just completed the Extended Family Weekend whirlwind of activities. It started off with Music on the Beach at the Lakeshore Lodge and Spa which was well attended! Then we had another back by popular demand Miniature Golf Outing at Magic Carpet Golf. I could not make the first Putt n Pizza which was organized by Carol Gerard, but after hearing how much fun everyone had.it just made sense to add this activity on to the weekend of events. The Beach Day at Baldwin Beach was great fun also. We got there early by car to set up and then the rest of the gang boated in. We got to do some wake boarding, paddle boarding and even played some badminton. Badminton is a sport that is harder than it looks! My nephew loved swimming in the clean water. We have added a renewed activity on to the calendar. On August 22 nd (Saturday) we will be Boating Around the Lake. As of now, the itinerary is to leave early.get over to Sand Harbor and have some morning beverages with light breakfast. Bloody Marys and Mimosas sure sound enticing to me! Then we will head to the North Shore and have lunch. Thanks to Don Young for reminiscing about this activity in years past I felt I just had to add this to the calendar in 2015! Lunch could be as simple as visiting Safeway on the North Shore for sandwiches.we will head back along the West Shore and depending on the weather and timing.maybe stop to enjoy a cocktail at Sunnyside, West Shore Café or The Beacon! I am looking for volunteers to help with the itinerary and boat drivers! August 23 rd is Wine Tour in the Fair play Region. John and Carol Schoenfeld is organizing this activity. Please let her know ASAP if you would like to join us, as we will be looking for some DD s (designated drivers) and possibly renting a large van so we can all be together!

Fair Play Wine Region Day Trip Sunday, August 23 The Fair Play Wine Region is located about 1 hour and 35 minutes from South Lake Tahoe, just southeast of Pollock Pines.

They call it the Wines with an Altitude. The growing conditions are ideal for producing Rhone style wines. Our Yacht Club day trip includes tastings at 3 wineries and lunch at the Gold Vine Grill.

6 Fair Play Wine Region Day Trip Sunday, August 23 The Fair Play Wine Region is located about 1 hour and 35 minutes from South Lake Tahoe, just southeast of Pollock Pines. Fair Play is its own wine appellation or AVA. All the wineries are small family-owned operations. The elevation and other geographic features make this wine area very unique. They call it the Wines with an Altitude. The growing conditions are ideal for producing Rhone style wines. Our Yacht Club day trip includes tastings at 3 wineries and lunch at the Gold Vine Grill. Generally the wine tastings are gratis. These are small, family run wineries, and it is polite to purchase some wine. Once we know how many people are interested in attending, we can determine if we want to rent a van or take our own personal cars. Schedule for the day 9:15 AM Meet at the Kornegay House, 2217 Balboa Drive, SLT for carpooling or van. There is plenty of street parking available. This location might change depending on whether or not we rent a van. Please be on time 9:30 AM Depart promptly 11:00 AM Visit 2 wineries. Visits are approximately minutes per winery. Reservations will be made at the wineries. The boat ride will be followed by a barbecue and entertainment on the grounds of the Yacht Club. Volunteers from our PICYA Yacht Clubs are needed on shore and aboard the boats to assist in making this a memorial experience for the Veterans.
