They are: Robin Doty, Scott Blymyer, Neil Hart and Sharon and Lonnie Nuss. This brings our current membership to 148!! Welcome to you all. ST PATTYS DAY We had a great time celebrating St Pat s Day. Jerry and Butch cooked up a tasty meal!! We want to thank all those that worked hard to make the Day a success. Jerry reported that we made a nice $566 profit!! Club opens at 1800 Pot Luck at 1845 Meeting at 1900 Board Meetings: Tuesday before General Meeting at 1800 MARCH GENERAL MEETING The March General meeting was a wellattended and productive meeting. As always we had plenty of very good food. The Business Meeting produced several needed changes to our By Laws. We took the following actions: We ended the sale of Script, old script can be used thru 12/31/16. We voted to raise the dues by $25 a person. We have a 50% reduction in dues for members 30 years old and younger. We are offering a 50% reduction in dues for active Military Members. And we voted in a new Budget for BEACH PARTY A big thanks to Carol and Ray Wetmore for all their work planning and pulling off a great Beach Party!! The cheese burgers and drinks were great and everyone had fun. A big thanks to the Hidden Harbor Yacht Club, who Carol had invited to join us. Carol estimates that we made $125!!

2 Commodore's Report (Continued) MAY DAY AFTERNOON TEA Ladies, please mark your calendars now for the first ever KCYC afternoon tea to be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, May 1 st at KCYC!! Limited number of tickets to be sold, no tickets sold at the door. Prices are: $20 Adults, $15 Children 12 & under. Hats are encouraged! Entertainment provided! More information coming soon! Contact Gloria Young at gloriagy3@comcast.net for your reservation asap! OPENING DAYS Be sure and put the two Opening Days on your calendar. The Seattle Opening day is at the Queen City Yacht Club. It is a lot of fun to come down on May 8 th and join the party on one of several of our boats. We are all rafted together and there is always plenty of fun. The following Saturday, the 15 th, we host the Kingston Opening Day with the blessing of the fleet and a toast to the Club. After the ceremony, we board the boats and sail to Port Madison. After the cruise, we will meet back at the Club for Rick and Cheryl Grahams now famous Mexican Fiesta. Again there is plenty of room for all. Put these dates on your calendar. Stevey3@comcast.net Vice Commodore's Report Hello sunshine, The change to daylight savings is, perhaps, one of my favorite times of year. It tells me summer and boating are not far off. We ve certainly seen some great weather early this year. I am definitely looking forward to opening day, which is barely a month away! Soon you will see some changes at the club house. Steve Young did a great job in negotiating a new beer cooler for the bar. Since we were able to avoid a $2500 cost to replace the cooler we may be able to use some of those funds for other upgrades and repairs we need to do around the club house. Our membership continues to grow and we are nearly at 150 full time members. It s really great to see the club house packed with new faces so if you have the time please come out and join us for the Friday night socials. Speaking of Friday nights, Nancy, Joe and crew did a great job on the dancing lessons. You could definitely see the results at the St. Patty s Dinner. And a big thanks to Jerry, Butch and the kitchen crew for putting out another great Irish dinner. Last but not least a big thanks to Carole and Ray for the beach party! We had a ton of people show up for that including folks from Hidden Harbor and Bremerton yacht clubs. We had some great burgers and appetizers and a fun time was had by all. 3 Rear Commodore s Report We continued with Bunco, dancing lessons and added a birthday celebration for one of the Legends of Kingston and Kingston Cove Yacht Club in March. Congratulations, Pete DeBoer, on the beginning of your next decade during which your friends will see you as a former commissioner and future best-selling author. April s Friday Night schedule opens with Carol Whetmore s Beach Party on April First. Hidden Harbor Yacht Club will join us for the event. Carol is featuring a Fruity Rum drink and Margueritas at $3 each as a special for the event. (No. The price is NOT an April Fool s trick, and we will use REAL Tequila and Rum in the drinks. I promise!) April 15 th, we will have a line dancing class. April 22 is Open Mike led by Pete DeBoer, and April 29, I will sponsor a wine tasting. Looking ahead a bit, we need to start planning for Opening Day in Seattle on Saturday, May 7 at Seattle Yacht Club. Our boats will raft off a dock at Queen City Yacht Club beginning on Thursday, May 5. Our Fleet Captain asked me to be Cruise Captain for this event so please let me know if you plan to attend by boat or by other means so I can keep you informed about activities. Call or text me at or me at wordstitcher430@gmail.com. So far, I have Le Suivant, Forever Young, Ceilidh, High Life, and Knotty Shell on the list for the raft at Queen City. We also have Rick and Rita on the list to attend without a boat. They will be staying at Silver Cloud in the University District where rooms are still available. Don t wait long if you think you might want to stay overnight. You can also attend just for the day on May 7. If you arrive early, street parking is available at Queen City. For all attendees, your KCYC membership card will get you in the door at Queen City, and you can find your friends on the boat raft, have a lovely lunch at QCYC or take the water shuttle to Seattle Yacht Club where your membership card will again get you into the club where you can enjoy a meal or just sit on the lawn and watch the Parade of Boats. Our own Commodore Steve will be participating in the Opening Ceremonies at Seattle Yacht Club first thing Saturday Morning. It s a beautiful moment. I hope you can make it. I ll send out more information later on specific activities, but it would be good to get sign ups for the raft and an idea about how many will be coming in the next week or two. 4 FLEET CAPTAINS REPORT Signal from the Fleet The Port Ludlow cruise is coming soon. Officially in on the 8th of April and out on the 10th (2 nights). Rumor has it that a boat or two might show up a day earlier, on the 7th. If you are coming please contact the marina for your slip. They will need a credit card number, but they will not charge it unless you are a no-show, in which case they will charge one night. You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance. The 9th of April is the Port Ludlow Yacht Club Training Day. You are invited! A variety of seminars and presentations on nautical topics. Note that the deadline for registering is April 3, although the PLYC folks are very accommodating. Here is their bulletin. Port Ludlow Yacht Club Training Day We are pleased to announce our annual Training Day will be held on Saturday April 9th at the Beach Club. This year's theme is "Friends of the Salish Sea". The public is invited and you do not need to own a boat to enjoy the day. Check in starts at 8:30 AM, with the first presentation at 9:00 AM. The presentations will be completed at 3:30 PM. The cost, which includes lunch, is $10.00 for YC members, and $15.00 for non-members. Chris Chase, the head shipwright for the Western Flyer will present us with the fascinating story of the history and the renovation of John Steinbeck's boat. Next will be a discussion of safety as related to fires. This will be conducted by Port Ludlow Fire and Rescue. Then some breakout sessions with Sea Marine, and Larry Luce to discuss boat maintenance and AC/DC on boat. Our own Tish Satre will discuss Galley and cooking tips on boats. Our keynote speaker is Linda Newland, a world renowned sailor and instructor who has many stories about her life on the water. Registration must be made in advance so there will be enough food and space. The dead line is April 3rd. At the conclusion of Training Day, you are invited to the PLYC Wreck Room to join us for our Saturday festivities, drinks and snacks. Other Port Ludlow Cruise Items Friday Night we will have the barbecue area which includes a gazebo. I'll provide fire. Bring some form of protein to eat and perhaps a side dish to share. BYOB. The Fireside Room in the Inn at Port Ludlow is very good. Reservations are suggested. There is an RV facility at Port Ludlow. Not sure where it is in relation to the marina. 5 ANNUAL AUCTION!!! This year s co-chairs (Jerry, Craig and Rodger) announce that the Auction will most likely be scheduled for sometime in September, exact date will be forthcoming as well as details regards location (in the Club House or outside or both depends upon how many items are donated!!), time and silent/live auction format. When you get going on your Spring cleaning, keep a look-out for items to donate to the Auction. Although the theme for the Auction is nautical, we are not hard-over and decisions as to whether an item (nautical or knot) will be included in the Auction will be made on a case-by-case basis. When you run across something that you wish to donate to the Auction call Jerry ( ), Craig ( ), or Rodger ( ) and make arrangements for pickup and storage. The goal for this year s Auction is to raise $ ! So keep a sharp eye out for some quality items you no longer need under-foot, set it aside and contact Jerry, Craig or Rodger. Sunshine and Clouds April 2016 Spring is finally here.and boy.are we ready for it! Ready to blow away the blues and bring on the sunshine! Not much to report here. Many members have been traveling to escape the rain this past month.everywhere from The Pickens in Jamaica to The Kesters in Hawaii. Then we have folks in Mexico, Arizona and who knows where else...anywhere to get out of the darkness of Vampireland. I would like to mention that a very dear friend of members.gwen Norman.lost her daughter Jamie recently. Our prayers go out to Gwen and her family. Jamie was just 29. A beautiful soul gone too soon. On the bright side, stay tuned in for lots of fun events. It may be cloudy outside but it s always sunny inside the clubhouse! CELEBRATE!
