And cheers to 2018, which we trust will bring you good and happy sailing. We hope everyone had a great holiday. As we say goodbye to 2017, we want to thank Mary Anne for her excellent stewardship during the last year, her work and accomplishments have been amazing. TSC has been truly blessed by her leadership. The Executive Committee (Board) consists of six officers and the Past Commodore. Three of last years officers have agreed to continue in their previous capacity. Their involvement provides continuity and a smooth transaction. Thanks to Lorrie, Fredrica and Jim Waller for volunteering to continue their office for another year. And thanks to Jim Madsen and David Gray for their commitment to TSC for As David Craigie would say, we need new blood. Also, thanks to Phil for his impeccable management of the Boat House and Yard and most importantly for agreeing to continue in that capacity. We are all thankful to have Jim Eller continue as Mainsheet Editor, his skills and talents in managing our communications are greatly appreciated. Planning has already begun for our 2018 educational classes, regattas, social events and organizing a keelboat timeshare. To find more about these and other events check out our website and come to the monthly meetings. If you haven t been to a meeting in a while you might be surprised what a great time you ve been missing. Be assured we will do our best to make 2018 the best year ever or at least as good as 2017 was for our sailing club. Here s wishing you a prosperous, healthy, safe and fun New Year. 3 TSC Shared Boat Assess, an Expanded Membership Program The TSC Expanded Membership Program would entitle a member, paying an additional $250 per year, to the use of a TSC keelboat. The keelboat will be in good condition and slipped at the Little River Marina. The plan is for there to be ten such members for each boat designated as a Club Keelboat. The TSC Keelboat will be maintained by the members who are a part of the Expanded Membership Program and the current plan is to have each boat purchased with donations from TSC members and friends. Interested? Come to one or both of the meetings January 13th at 10:00am at the BoatHouse January 20th at 5:30pm, just prior to our TSC monthly potluck The current proposal is that the first boat be Shamrock, an O Day 24. She is in excellent condition and has just been hauled, bottom painted and given her annual routine maintenance. There is a slip reserved at Little River starting in February. 4 Swim and Sailing Canceled as a result of extreme cold this year. New Year s Day Potluck and Celebration Come and join in our black-eyed peas, corn bread, salad and the rest. The Boat- House will be open at 11am. The Thunderbird Sailing Club will ring in the New Year in our special way. The TSC times are officially 11am until 1pm. Sailing below 40 degrees is unpleasant but challenging. Sailing in temperatures below 20 degrees is unsafe. The same can be said for swimming in these conditions. We are sorry to cancel this year s sail and swim. We hope for better weather next year.

6 From your Treasurer and Membership Secretary, Fredrica Cottrell I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year. I know I did since I got to spend quality time with my family in Virginia. I m home now and looking forward to spending quality time with the Thunderbird Sailors. As always, TSC has some exciting events planned and I hope to see all of you there. New Members: We had 5 new members join the club in TSC Membership Directory: I will be compiling the new membership directory shortly. If there are any changes to your information please let me know. Renewing your TSC membership: For the over 55% of our who have responded with your annual renewal payment, Thank You! However, for those who have yet to send theirs in, it is very disappointing to go to my mailbox and find nothing there. Only 88% of our 2016 members renewed in I hope we can do better this year. I am hoping that if you are among those who have yet to return yours, that you will consider doing so. We really need your support. Thanks!!!
