The TSC Board members attended monthly meetings and worked together supporting each other s efforts. Support also came from LTEF and the BoatHouse committee to make changes strengthening the organization. The BoatHouse committee meeting on December 5 th will be setting a calendar for 2018 events. 2 TSC Christmas Party Potluck and Program Meeting Theme: 6:00 PM December 9, 2017 Country Christmas Party. Hard to believe it s the end of a great year of sailing at Thunderbird Sailing Club. We ve shared good times, endured injuries and overcome obstacles and through it all we ve remained committed to our sailing traditions. So dress in your favorite country attire and join us for some great country Christmas music, fellowship and celebration. Country Christmas Dinner: 6:30 PM Menu for dinner: Turkey, Ham and Smoked Salmon; Mashed Potatoes and Gravy; Sweet Potatoes, Vegetables, Rolls, Salad and Deserts. A request for Casseroles was made at the November meeting. Bring your favorite holiday food. As usual, the club will provide beverages, utensils, plates/bowls, etc... Program: TSC awards for the racing season and events throughout the year, officer transitions, and other holiday fun! (See more info on the next page.) 3 Calling all holiday decorators!! TSC HOLIDAY PARTY NOTES One of my favorite events of the year is decorating for the TSC holiday party. Volunteers are Doris Shoemake, David and Joyce Craigie, David Gray, Barbara Schindler, and Fredrica Cottrell. The decorating starts at 4pm before the Holiday Party on December 9 th says Mary Ann Secrist. At the November TSC meeting we passed around a list of main dishes for the Holiday dinner. We can certainly use more side dishes and desserts. So far, we have: Turkey & Gravy - David Craigie Ham - Mary Anne Secrist Smoked Salmon - Phil Moeshel Dressing (big pan) Camisa Stewart Cranberry relish Camisa Stewart Mashed potatoes - Paul Reynolds Sweet potatoes Jim Chapman Fruit salad Barbara Schindler Relish plate Doris Shoemake

4 New Year s Day Polar Plunge and Sailing on the Day Come and join in a swim for your life, black-eyed peas, burgers and sailing on the day. The BoatHouse will be open at 10am for the OKC Tri Club, as those hardy souls build courage and comradery and prepare for their annual Polar Plunge. They will be cooking out before hand. The Thunderbird Sailing Club will continue our overlapping event with our special way of welcoming in the New Year, as we sail no matter the weather. The TSC times are officially 11am (in time to see the Plunge) and sailing until 3pm or when we are finally cold enough to say We did it no matter the weather. TSC folks will have our usual potluck around noon and then sail.

6 HIGHLIGHTS TSC ANNUAL BUSINESS MEETING TSC annual business meeting was held Saturday, November 18 at last TSC regular meeting. Officers for 2018 were elected, bylaws updates were approved, and 2017 financial report was accepted. A new Treasury Committee was formed, per bylaws addition, to oversee the Treasurer in place of an annual audit. Mike Klatt volunteered to be its first member. Additional volunteers are being accepted. Congratulations to the new TSC officers for 2018: Commodore Jim Chapman Vice-Commodore Jim Madsen Rear-Commodore David Gray Secretary Lorrie Sylvester Treasurer Fredrica Cottrell Fleet Captain Jim Waller Not elected but reappointed are: Past Commodore - Mary Ann Secrist BoatHouse Committee Chair Phil Moreshel Mainsheet Editor Jim Eller Little River Marina Holds Informational Meeting at the BoatHouse In November the Little River Marina brought together many of those with slips on B and C docks to discuss and share the plans for expanding the marina. The goal is to place a new row of slips between B and C docks. The new dock will be called B/C dock. The existing marina will be cut into and the outer row of slips will be moved east, making room for the new set of slips. This new construction will take place in the New Year and before March 1 st, they hope. The anticipated construction will last only three days, if all goes well and little effect on the sailboat slips, other than increasing the traffic on the gangway, the foot traffic access ramp. There was some conversation about widening the gangway. This is not financial feasible. So look for changes in the new year and thank to the BoatHouse for making the building available for this important informational meeting.

I will also have membership renewal forms available at the Christmas Party and the New Year s Day sail and attached in the mainsheet. You can reduce your paper clutter (and save the club expenses) by renewing at either of these events, use pay pal or send me a check. For members who have not renewed, renewal notices will be sent at the end of November. Membership renewals are due January 1 for the 2018 calendar year. 8 THE 2017 HIRAM DOUGLASS MARK PHILLIPS AND HIS PEARSON 28 WINS MEMORIAL REGATTA TROPHY Sailing a Pearson 28 OCBC member Mark Phillips brought his Pearson 28 in for first place over 9 boats in the cruising fleet. Shawn Cina also from OCBC brought his VX-one in for first place over the 5 boat spinnaker fleet. Brian Rainbow of TSC brought his Hobie 17 in un contested in the multihull fleet. The Hiram trophy goes to the winner of the largest fleet and goes to Mark Phillips of OCBC. Winds for the race were breezy with gust as high as 24 mph and shifted through the race from NW to N. From the Oklahoma Mesonet Norman Station November Many thanks go to Paul Pape of OCBC for serving as the PRO for the race and to Fredrica, Sylvia and Mike who had the task of getting the times and calculating the scores for the regatta. Thanks also go to Safety/ Mark boat skippers and crews David G., Les, and Roger E. Special thanks to Les for taking and posting photos. No race is complete without all the onshore preparation for food and drink. Many thanks go to the efforts by Jim and Judy Doris Lorrie and many others for getting the pre-race treats out, sandwiches and for setting up the chili cook off.
