4 Richmond Yacht Club In 1932 a group of Richmond locals joined forces to form the Richmond Yacht Club. United by a common desire to promote affordable sailing, they built their own boats, sewed their own sails, constructed their own club house, and ran their own races. 80 years later RYC continues these traditions as a volunteer yacht club and has grown into a major force in the Bay Area sailing scene. RYC is a club dedicated to serious sailing while at the same time having tremendous fun. Club members actively race all manner and size of boats-- monohulls, multihulls, dinghies and skiffs. Our Point Richmond location and excellent harbor facilities make it easy for us to hold both small boat and big boat regattas, and RYC has a proud tradition of hosting world class championships as well as a multitude of regattas for Bay Area racers, junior and youth boaters, and RYC members.

5 Location Richmond Yacht Club is located in the San Francisco Bay Area. It has the nickname of The Richmond Riviera. Nestled in the lee of Angel Island, rigging and after race socializing can typically be warm and sunny while the racing takes place in the infamous Berkeley Circle, providing consistent wind across the race arena.

6 Boat launching RYC has two small boat launching areas. One directly in front of the main deck and another dinghy ramp at the beginning of B dock. Allowing plenty of space to get all competitors off to the race course with minimal hassles.

8 Race Arena Team racing will be held between southampton shoal area and the berkley Circle Individual worlds competition will be held in the Berkeley Olympic Circle area The course is a short 5-15 minute sail from RYC Winds range from knots at this time of the year

10 Regional Attractions Golden Gate Park, contains the aquarium, Tea garden, the DeYoung museum and the California academy of Science to name just a few of the attractions. Exploratorium, interactive displays and just a short walk from the fiery terminal. The California coast offers many different beaches just a short distance from RYC, surfing, body surfing, hiking and general relaxation. Muir Woods National Park, Beautiful day hikes through the redwood groves

11 The Rock or better known as Alcatraz, Daily tours are offered to this iconic piece of US history. For the more adrenaline seeking adventurer there is Six Flags Discovery Kingdom offering numerous rides and shows Napa Valley, Treat yourself to a day of wine tasting, fine dining and spa treatment while enjoying the beautiful scenery of this magnificent valley. Yosemite and Lake Tahoe, the perfect overnight side trip or weekend getaway after the event is over.

12 Other pertinent information There is a full service rigging and repair shop within a two block walk from the Club house. There are a few other Chandleries within 2-3 miles from the club. Our yard has 24 hour lighting and power is available in the yard. We have a full service sail loft within a 2-3 block walk from the club There are two major international airports to choose from, San Francisco International and Oakland International. Both are a short (45 minutes or less) drive from our host club. Oakland has a large International Shipping Harbor. It is located a short 30 minute drive from RYC making easy work of transporting containers to and from the event.
