1. Remember your WOBS every morning: Water (Coolant), Oil, Bilges (Inspect and Pump-out), Belts and Sea Strainer 2. Check the level of COOLANT in the expansion tanks. 3. Check the level of OIL in each engine by checking your dipsticks located inward on each John Deere engine readily accessible. Look at the etch marks on each dipstick that indicate the proper oil level. DO NOT OVERFILL OIL! Only add John Deere oil if levels are below the 1/2 way mark. Please use a paper towel or oil rag, not the dish towels. Engine oil dip stick Engine sea cock 4. Check the general condition of the BELTS, HOSES, and FUEL LINES. 5. Ensure the valve on each RAW WATER THRU-HULL are in the open position (lever in line with valve). 6. Observe the glass of each RAW WATER STRAINER for debris. If necessary, close the seacock, open the strainer cover, clean the strainer and reassemble. 7. Remember to reopen the seacock. 8. Check your generator fluids as well. The generator is located at the back of the Engine Room on the port side. Start Up 1. Before starting the engines, do your engine inspection. 2. Double-check shore power is disconnected and shore power switch is turned to Inverter. 3. The engines should be started from the lower helm station. 4. Ensure GEARSHIFTS (black balls to left of wheel) are in neutral or straight up. 5. Pull the THROTTLES (red balls gears to right of the wheel) all the way back to idle position. 6. Insert both keys into the IGNITION SWITCHES. 7. Turn the engine power and stop power to the on position (one each side of panel in front of the wheel). Mystic Dancer Operation Manual

8. Turn the key clockwise partially until the ENGINE ALARM sounds and pre-heat the engine. 9. Turn the key fully clockwise to engage the engine. 10. Move the THROTTLE to raise the engine speed to 750 rpm on the TACHOMETER. 11. Observe the readings of the gauges. The oil pressure will register about PSI. The engine temperature should rise slowly. 12. Check for bubbles and water flow at exhaust. 13. Check transmission for each engine one at a time, forward and reverse, while still tied to dock. 14. Check traffic, wind, and current direction within the marina before getting underway. Note: If oil pressure is low or water flow is low an alarm will sound. Follow these procedures: 1. Shut down engine, and inspect engine compartment and look for possible cause (for example, loss of oil). Caution: If an engine is overheating or there is lack of raw water expelled in the engine exhaust, stop the engine immediately! 2. Recheck the raw water-cooling system to ensure the seacock is open (handle in-line with valve). 3. Next, check the raw water strainer for debris. Remove strainer, clean, re-assemble, and reopen the raw water intake valve (seacock). 4. Restart the engine and recheck water flow from the exhaust. If water is not flowing properly, the RAW WATER PUMP may need to be serviced. Seek help. Alarm Panel Shut Down 1. Before shutting down, allow the engines to idle for about 5 minutes to cool them gradually and uniformly. The time engaged in preparing to dock the boat is usually sufficient. 2. Ensure each GEARSHIFT (black ball) is in the neutral position straight up and each THROTTLE (red ball) IS IN THE idol position pulled all the way back. 3. Turn off engines by first pushing black STOP POWER button/switch. 4. Turn key counter-clockwise to off position. 5. Turn red ENGINE POWER switch off. Mystic Dancer Operation Manual

Getting Underway 1. Before getting underway, know the route to your destination and leave a float plan with someone on shore. 2. Check weather, wind, tides (flood/ebb) and currents. 3. Turn on your VHF radio and electronics. 4. Check rudder angle, DISENGAGE AUTO-PILOT and verify stabilizers are turned off, 5. Turn shore power switch to Inverter. The switch is located left of Pilot House wheel, (large dial on right at the top.) 6. Turn port/starboard shore switch to off at AC Panel and shore/generator switch to off. 7. Flip breaker at Dock to off. 8. Unplug yellow electrical chord at shore power outlet on dock. 9. Unplug yellow electrical chord at boat outlet and store cord and adapter in port locker on Portuguese bridge. BE CAREFUL TO KEEP CORD OUT OF THE WATER AT ALL TIMES! 10. To conserve battery power, turn off lights not in use. The ice-maker, trash compactor, blow dryers, and toaster require a lot of power to run so use judiciously. 11. Store power chord in port locker on deck directly in front of Pilot House. 12. Fold and store deck chairs in Cockpit or Lazarette. 13. Close all hatches in staterooms and heads. 14. Secure any items at risk from falling/breaking due to boat movement. Inverter/Shore Power Switch 15. Close mid-boat side doors and latch to avoid catching door on dock poles/cleats, etc. 16. Have crew prepare single tie dock lines back to the vessel at bow and stern. 17. Position crew where needed to release dock line and fend off hazards. 18. Untie lines (be sure to take them with you) and motor away from dock. 19. Pull in all fenders and dock lines and stow. Mystic Dancer Operation Manual

Note: Shore outlets are located at the port Foredeck and starboard Cockpit. Cruising 1. All close quarters maneuvering should take place at the Fly-Bridge or Upper Helm. 2. Ensure the THROTTLES are in the idle position before engaging the gearshifts to avoid transmission damage. 3. Engage the GEARSHIFTS. 4. Cruise at a maximum speed of 2000 RPMS. Avoid higher engine speeds as it causes higher fuel consumption. 5. If you run at 1800 RPMS you will cruise at about 9 knots and use 8 gallons of diesel per hour depending on weight, load and weather conditions. 6. Engage stabilizers as needed when clear of dock and close quarters. 7. Cruising is the best method for charging batteries. Remember to select BOTH on the DC panel to charge both sides of the House Battery bank. 8. Watch for logs, crab pot buoys and other debris at all times! Important Note: DO NOT engage stabilizers in close quarters as they will impede steering! Docking/Arriving 1. Before arriving at the dock, look up your destination in Waggoner s Cruising Guide and find the diagram of the marina. 2. Find the VHF channel and call the harbor master to get a slip assignment - write down the assignment. 3. Begin cool-down of engines and plan approach to marina. 4. Center the stabilizers located on the port side in front of the gears. 5. Before arriving at dock 6. DISENGAGE AUTO PILOT. 7. Use the FLYBRIDGE HELM for greater visibility. 8. Determine port or starboard docking and set fenders and dock lines accordingly. (Bow, stern and mid-ship.) 9. Dock lines go through Hawseholes NOT over rails! Pulling lines over the rail damages the brightwork. Do not let dock lines touch the brightwork on the rail, (see photo below). 10. Fenders go over rails at cleats with brass protectors. 11. Check wind direction, currents and tides to determine best maneuvering tactic. (Check how other vessels are sitting in their berths or anchored to help you assess the situation). 12. Assign crew docking tasks and give clear instructions on how you will be docking. 13. Bring vessel to assigned slip. Captain must stay at helm until lines are secured. 14. Attach mid-ship/stern line to dock cleat - crew member can step off at swim step or at mid-ship door (safest location). Mid-ship spring-line is preferred tie-off. Mystic Dancer Operation Manual

15. Attach bow line to dock cleat - use the BOW THRUSTER if necessary. (Note, the Bow Thruster battery ON/OFF switch is located at the foot of the master stateroom bed - keep in ON position). Bow Thruster Battery Bow Thruster Battery on/off switch in Master Stateroom 16. Turn off engine. See Shut Down instructions in previous section. 17. Run yellow shore power cord (located in Portuguese Bridge port locker) from the boat to the dock and be sure it is secure (not dangling in the water) before connecting cord to the boat outlet or shore outlet. 18. Connect yellow shore power cord into boat outlet located at port fore deck or starboard rear cock pit. Use adapters as needed and attach to dock outlet. Turn dock breaker to on. 9 1. Wait to open FILLER CAPS until ready to fill tanks. Caps are located forward on both the starboard and port side of the boat. Open caps using the DECK FITTING KEY located in the Pilot House cabinet drawer, starboard side. Do not try opening caps without proper deck fitting key. 2. Before pumping fuel, have an oil/fuel sorbs handy to soak up spilled fuel to protect the teak deck from staining. Fold sorb in quarters and cut crescent shape in corner to create a circle cut-out in center of sorb to fit over fuel opening, (see photo below). 3. You should have a rough idea of the number of gallons you ll need by checking the sight tubes at the fuel tank. Sight tubes are long, clear, vertical cylinders located in the Engine Room on either side of the ladder. (Clothes pins attached by the tubes can be moved up/down to monitor fuel consumption.) 4. Open glass sight tubes by twisting valves at top and bottom of glass tube. It will take a few minutes for the fuel level to register. 5. Make sure you have the right fuel. DIESEL! DIESEL! DIESEL! 6. Make sure the fuel is going into the right deck fill! DOUBLE CHECK! There are (4) deck fills for fuel, two each side of the boat at mid-ship. The forward deck fill on each side fills the forward tanks which are the normal tanks use for charters. 7. Post crew member to watch sight tubes during fueling. Fill to full marks at the top of the bright orange marks, (see photo below). Be sure to CLOSE SIGHT VALVES after fueling to avoid fuel leaking into Engine Room should glass tubes break! 8. Place the DIESEL nozzle into the tank opening, pump slowly and evenly, and note the sound of the fuel flow. Pumping too fast may not allow enough time for air to escape, which may result in spouting from the tank opening. As the tank fills, the sound will rise in pitch or gurgle. The sound may indicate the tank is nearly full. 9. Please avoid over-fill and splatter of fuel on teak deck! 10. Pay attention to the TANK OVERFLOW VENT on the outside of the hull near the tank opening. 11. Use a flashlight to look inside the tank opening to see the fuel level. 12. Top off carefully, and be prepared to catch spilled fuel. Spillage may result in a nasty fine from law enforcement. 13. Replace tank cap CAREFULLY to avoid stripping threads. Return FITTING KEY to Pilot House cabinet drawer. 14. Turn on blower before starting engines. 15. Clean up splatter and spillage immediately for environmental and health reasons. Wash hands with soap and water thoroughly. Note: forward port tank holds 385 gallons - forward starboard tank holds 270 gallons aft port tank holds 185 gallons - aft starboard tank holds 185 gallons. 10 The fuel manifold valves have been set so that only the two forward tanks will be used. The total capacity is 655 gallons. Fuel Tank Sight Tube & clothes-pin fuel marker Fuel/Oil Sorb, Fuel Deck Key, and Deck Fill Electrical Systems General Information 1. The electrical system is divided into two distribution systems: 110-volt AC power and 12-volt DC power. 2. The AC ELECTRICAL PANEL (shore & generator power) is located in the Pilot House on the port side. 3. The DC HOUSE BATTERY ELECTRICAL PANEL is located in the Pilot House on the starboard side. 4. When not connected to shore power or running the generator, batteries are providing all power so monitor the use of onboard electricity carefully with the VOLT METER located on the starboard side of the dash in the Pilot House. Turn off all electrical devices that are not needed. Best Practice: Turn off all AC breakers except refrigerator before going to bed. Shore/AC Power 1. SHORE POWER provides 50 amps and 125 volts to the vessel through the SHORE POWER CORD stored in the port Portuguese bridge locker. Use an adapter if dock does not provide 50 amp or 125 volts. The cord plugs into the boat in two different locations, starboard in the Cockpit and port on the Foredeck. 2. Check the power rating/plug size of the nearest dock receptacle and use appropriate adapter if needed, located under the starboard Pilot House step. 3. There is a selector switch for Starboard (aft inlet) plug-in or Port (forward inlet) plug-in for the AC panel. To the right is the selector for Shore or Generator power, (see photo below). Mystic Dancer Operation Manual

Shore power chord plug-in Selector switch for Port/Starboard plug-in 4. To make the connection to shore power, first turn both selectors to the off position. Run chord through Hawseholes (not over rail) and use the help of a crew member to keep the cord out of the water AT ALL TIMES, Secure the cord then plug cord into the dock breaker and turn dock power on. 5. Select the correct shore plug-in on the Port/Starboard selector. Lastly, select Shore on the Shore/ Generator selector. 6. All systems are operable while on Shore Power and all batteries are automatically charging if the chargers are selected on the AC panel. The chargers should always be left in the ON position. 7. If your outlets fail to work, check your GFI s to make sure that they have not been tripped. Best Practice: Avoid costly mistake of losing adapter in the water by holding the adapter in hand until safely on board the vessel. Do not let it dangle off the chord! Generator Power 1. Generator/AC Power is provided by a Northern Lights diesel generator located at the rear of the engine room on the port side and has its own isolated start battery and charger. Generator sea cock Generator oil dip stick Mystic Dancer Operation Manual

2. The generator pre-heat and starter switches are located on the port side of the Pilot House on the alarm panel. There is a selector switch near the alarm panel that can be switched between Inverter, Shore, or Off, (See photo at Getting Underway). 3. A second selector switch regarding the generator is located on the AC panel and can be switched between Shore, Generator, or Off. 4. To turn on the generator, first select Off on both selector switches noted above. Depress and hold the pre-heat for at least 10 seconds. While still depressing the pre-heat, push and hold the start switch until the generator is running. The generator is quiet so be sure to have a quiet environment to hear the start up. 5. Once the generator is started, immediately get a visual to make sure water and exhaust from the generator are exiting the port stern of the boat! If there is no water and exhaust, shut down the generator and trouble shoot. 6. To shut down the generator, take off the electrical load. Switch both selector switches to the Off position then depress the the Shut Down switch. 7. Check the generator oil but be very careful not to overfill when adding oil. (Delco oil) Best Practice: If starter light does not light up when pressed, check breaker switch at generator inside the generator cabinet located in the engine room. Reset breaker located on the left side. Inverter/AC Power 1. The Inverter Power is provided by a Trace Inverter 120-volt and a dedicated bank of for 6-volt L16 batteries located port side in the lazarette 2. A selection switch on the port side near the alarm panel can be switched between Inverter, Shore, or Off, (see photo at Getting Under Way). 3. A second switch, located on the main AC panel, can be switched between Shore, Generator, and Off. When the Shore/Generator switch is turned off, be sure the Inverter/Shore power switch is set to Inverter to maintain AC power. 13 4. The inverter power is used to power the refrigerator, microwave, disposal, trash compacter, ice maker and AC outlets. Be careful about power use, especially the disposer, trash compacter, and ice maker while using inverter power. 5. The inverter will not power the washer/dryer, electric heaters, water heaters, or water maker since all these items must be powered by the generator or shore power. 6. An alternator on the port engine will charge the inverter batteries while under way. The generator and shore power will also charge the inverter batteries. 7. The batteries are quick to take a charge for the first 80% of capacity but will be slow to take a charge for the last 20% of capacity. DO NOT change any settings on the battery charger or the inverter. If the batteries are drained below 50% of capacity the inverter will not provide power. 8. Batteries for the inverter (four L-16) are located in the lazarette and require monitoring of fluid levels. Distilled water with a funnel can be found left of the batterie. Be careful not to overfill! Inverter shut-off in Engine Room Best Practice: Conserve Inverter batterie storage by not using ice maker, disposer, trash compactor, microwave, blow dryers, etc. while using Inverter power. House Battery/DC Power 1. House Battery/DC Power is provided by four 8D batteries located at the rear of the engine room on the starboard side. The four batteries are split into two separate groups that are designed to draw-down power independent of eat other. Group 1 is for draw-down on odd-numbered days of the calendar and Group 2 is for draw-down on even-numbered days of the calendar. Mystic Dancer Operation Manual

House Batteries & Charger (Engine Room) Inverter Batteries (Located in Lazarette) 2. The selector switch for the two groups of House Bank Batteries is located on the DC panel at the top left corner. This selector switch will allow the isolation of Group 1 or Group 2 or you may select both together. The idea is that when drawing down the batteries (no charge is going in) that the selection switch is either on Battery (group) 1 or Battery (group) Be sure to only draw off one battery group at a time so that the other group is available as reserve power. It s important to understand that the Engine Starter for both engines draws off the house battery bank. 4. Both house bank batteries can be charged in three separate ways. The first and most effective way to charge the house bank is while cruising and using the 140 amp alternators on each engine. The second way to charge the house bank is with the generator which powers the battery charger. The third way to charge the house bank is with shore power which also provides power to the battery charger. Battery chargers Selection Switch for Group 1 & 2 Batteries Mystic Dancer Operation Manual

5. As a precaution, the generator has its own battery for starting and in the event both house banks are run down to where they will not start the engines it is possible to start the generator, charge the house bank and then start the engines. 6. Once at an anchorage, lower the anchor and the tender with the engines running and the selector switch set to Both. When the engines are turned off, the selector switch goes to Battery (group) 1 or Battery (group) 2 for the duration of the night. In the morning, move the selector switch to the opposite Battery bank. Before cruising, do your safety checks, set the battery selector switch to Both, start both engines, raise the tender and then the anchor. Move the selector to the appropriate house bank group then repeat the process using the opposite house bank for the next evening. 16 7. The house batteries are gel type so it is not necessary to check the fluid levels. 8. The DC VOLT METER on the DC panel can be switched between Port, Starboard, and House battery banks to measure charging or resting battery voltages. 9. When a battery bank is being charged, the voltage will read from about 13.1 volts to 14.4 volts. When the battery bank is at rest (not being charged) the volt meter can give a rough indication of the state-of-charge of the batter bank. Best Practice: Be sure batterie selection switch is set to Both while motoring so both group 1 and 2 batteries get charged by engine alternators. AC Panel 1. The AC Electrical Panel (shore & generator power) is located in the Pilot House on the port side. 2. Breakers to be kept on at all times include: Trace Inverter Charger, Starboard, House Battery Charger, Port House Battery Charger, and Thruster Battery Charger. DC Panel 1. The DC House Battery Electrical Panel is located in the Pilot House on the starboard side. 2. Breakers to be kept on at all times: Alarm system, Engine Room Sub-Panel, Forward Bilge Pump and Engine Room Bilge Pump. 3. Breakers usually kept off: Synchronizer, Bait Pump, and Side Band Radio. 4. Breakers to turn off immediately after use: Propane, Shower Sump Pump, Macerator Pump, Salt Water Pump, Davit Control and Back-Up Bilge Pump. Note: The Windless and Synchronizer are disconnected and should be kept off. Alarm Panel 1. The Alarm Panel is located starboard in the Pilot House to the left of the AC Panel. 2. An alarm will sound and a red light appear when there is a problem with the engine oil, water temperature, raw water, fuel level, bilge, or a fire is detected. 3. See Miscellaneous/Safety for use of Fire Extinguisher in the event of an engine fire. Mystic Dancer Operation Manual

Alarm Panel Sanitation Systems Marine Toilet 1. Every member of the crew needs to be informed on the proper use of the MARINE TOILET. 2. Before departing on your charter, have your AYC check-out captain demonstrate the proper use of all systems. 3. Mystic Dancer is equipped with Tecma Marine toilets, forward is fresh water and aft is salt water. Each head has a touch pad to operate the toilet - the touch button on the left is used for adding water to the bowl, the touch button on the right flushes the toilet. Use salt water head to conserve fresh water. Holding Tank Monitor (Tankwatch) Marine toilet touch pad Mystic Dancer Operation Manual

4. To use the toilet, press the left button to add water when necessary then press the right button to flush. 5. Flush sufficiently to move effluent in the hoses; heavy effluent may clog hoses! Best Practice: Flush poop before adding toilet paper to the bowl to avoid clogs. Let toilet paper soak in water before flushing. Important Note: NEVER put paper towels, tampons, kleenex, sanitary napkins, household toilet paper or food into the marine toilet! Only use the special dissolving marine toilet tissue provided by AYC. Holding Tank General Information 1. The sanitation HOLDING TANK holds approximately 100 gallons of waste. Be aware of the rate of waste production (about 1 gallon per flush). 2. Plan to empty the tank every few days or as needed to avoid an overfilled tank, (see note below). 3. The HOLDING TANK is located under the companion way in the Engine Room. 4. To check the level of the tank keep an eye on the warning light located at the guest Toilet Panel but do not rely on this as it can get clogged. (See photo above) Important Note: With an overfilled tank, it is possible to break a hose, clog a vent, or burst the tank. The result will be indescribable catastrophe and an EXPENSIVE FIX to you. Emptying the Holding Tank - Pump-Out Station 1. The HOLDING TANK is emptied in one of two ways; at a Marine Pump-Out Station located in the U.S. and Canada, or by using the MACERATOR only in Canadian open waters. 2. Prepare lines and fenders for docking at pump-out station. (Starboard is preferred) 3. At the Marine Pump-Out Station, remove the WASTE CAP located starboard mid-ship. 4. Insert the pump-out nozzle (located on the pump-out dock) into the waste opening. 5. Double-check your deck fitting! 6. Turn on the pump and open the valve located on the handle. 7. When pumping is finished, close the lever on the handle and turn off the pump. 8. Remove hose from deck fitting. 9. Replace WASTE CAP and clean any spillage. If there is a fresh water hose on the dock, rinse the tank by adding 2 minutes of water into the tank. Then repump to leave the tank rinsed for the next charter. This also eliminates head odors. Emptying the Holding Tank - Macerator 1. The MACERATOR can only be used in CANADIAN OPEN WATERS. 2. The Macerator Pump is located under the bottom step to the stateroom. 3. To operate the MACERATOR, open the macerator overboard discharge valve in the guest head using the thin, bright orange lever located in the opening behind the toilet. Turn the valve clockwise 1/4 turn (towards yourself and downward). Mystic Dancer Operation Manual

4. Turn on Macerator pump at DC panel. 5. Immediately verify discharge by looking over starboard rail mid-ship above water line. 6. Continue viewing discharge entire time pump is running. 7. It should only take a few minutes to empty the tank. Once discharge begins to surge the tank is empty. Turn off the Macerator breaker switch immediately to avoid damage to pump. 8. Close the valve in the guest head by turning it 1/4 turn counter-clockwise until it is straight up. Keep closed at all times while in U.S. waters. Best Practice: Avoid costly pump replacement due to leaving pump on. Macerator discharge valve lever (in closed position) Water Systems Fresh Water Tanks 1. The 2 FRESH WATER TANKS hold 150 gallons each for a total of 300 gallons. 2. Water level in the tanks can be observed by opening the SIGHT VALVES (top and bottom) located in the lazarette. Each tank has a separate sight valve. Close sight valves after determining water levels. 3. To refill the tank, remove the WATER CAPS located towards the stern both port and starboard. (Cap key is located in Pilot House cabinet drawer, starboard side). 4. The fresh water hose and blue fresh water filter are located in the lazarette. Attach blue filter between the hose bib and hose. Run water through the hose to flush out old water and debris before filling tanks. 5. Fill tank. Avoid flushing debris from deck into the tank opening. 6. When tank is filled, turn off water, remove hose, replace the cap and stow hose, filter, and cap key. When replacing the caps, please be very careful not cross thread and strip the cap threads! 7. DO NOT fill water and diesel at the same time! Mystic Dancer Operation Manual

Note: Waste water from the sinks and showers drains overboard through various thru-hulls usually located under the sink. Best Practice: Serious problems can arise by putting non-potable water into tanks - double check quality of water before putting it into the tanks. Note: The water maker is inoperable. Please do not attempt to use! Fresh Water Pressure Pump 1. The WATER PRESSURE PUMP is located on the port side of the engine room behind the generator. 2. To activate the pump, turn on the breaker at the DC panel. 3. When the water pump is activated a green light on the alarm panel (port side in pilot house) will light up. 4. If the water pump continues to run, you are most likely out of water and need to shut off the pump at the DC breaker immediately to avoid damage to the pump. 5. If you run out of water, SHUT OFF YOUR HOT WATER HEATER on the AC panel. Serious damage can occur! Water Heater 1. The HOT WATER HEATER has a 20 gallon capacity tank. 2. Hot water can be created three ways: when connected to shore power, when the generator is running, or via a heat exchanger from the port motor while underway. 3. The water heater is located on the port side of the engine room behind the generator. 4. To use while on shore power or when the generator is running, flip on the water heater circuit breaker on the AC electrical panel. 5. Do not use the water heater if the water tank level is low. Best Practice: The heat exchanger from the port motor will keep the water hot for up to eighteen hours after motoring. Save energy by showering after cruising. Salt Water Wash-down 1. A salt water wash-down hose bib is located at the base of the pulpit on the bow for rinsing the anchor and chain as it s being raised. (see photo in Anchoring section). There is also a permanent hose in place to flush the chain of minor debris. A hose is located in the locker to the side of the pulpit. 2. Turn off water and re-stow hose when finished. 3. A second salt water and fresh water hose bib is located at the stern of the boat in the Cockpit. Best Practice: Turn off salt water pump breaker after use. Mystic Dancer Operation Manual

Fresh Water and Salt Water Hose Bibs Shower 1. Before taking a SHOWER, turn on the SHOWER SUMP PUMP BREAKER at the DC panel. 2. Press the toggle switch for the shower sump pump located in the head to AUTO. 3. To conserve water, take very short boat showers by turning off water between soaping up and rinsing. 4. To keep shower tidy, wipe down the shower stall and floor. 5. Check for accumulation of hair in the shower and sink drains. The shower pump will not work with a clogged drain and can be damaged. 6. An additional FRESH WATER FAUCET is located at bow and stern. The stern faucet has hot water as well as cold water. 7. Ensure the faucets and nozzle are completely off after use. Best Practice: Shower sump pumps can easily fail when left running without water. Avoid failure of pump by turning off the shower sump pump breaker on DC panel after each shower. Washer/Dryer 1. The washer/dryer unit is located in the guest head above the toilet. 2. Various cycle options are numbered on the washer/dryer front panel. Turn dials to desired settings before starting the machine. 3. Because the dryer runs off 110 volts it is only able to dry small loads such as dish rags and underwear. For heavier or larger laundry loads using a commercial laundry mat is recommended. Best Practice: Only use the washer and dryer when connected to shore power. Mystic Dancer Operation Manual

Washer/dryer Galley Stove/Oven 1. The stove and oven run on propane. To use the stove/oven turn on the Propane Switch at the DC panel. 2. Verify propane tank is open, located under the port side seat on the Flybridge. 3. Press ON/OFF solenoid switch located under the microwave to the right of the stove (left button). It should show a green light. 4. Turn on the gas at the stove by pressing and holding the stove knob and turn slightly left until a flame appears. You might need to hold the knob in for a few seconds until the thermo coupler warms up. 5. Turn on the gas at the oven using the same procedure to light the stove but depress the oven knob instead. 6. When finished cooking, turn the Propane Switch off at the DC panel. As an extra precaution, you may want to turn off the valve at the propane bottle as well. Solenoid switch Mystic Dancer Operation Manual

Microwave/Convection Oven 1. Be sure the Microwave Switch is on at the AC panel to the left of the Pilot House wheel. 2. Follow instruction on digital panel on microwave for cooking. Best Practice: Use only when the generator is running or connected to shore power. Refrigerator/Ice Maker 1. Be sure the refrigerator breaker at the AC panel is kept ON at all times! If necessary it can be turned off at night to conserve battery power. 2. A separate Ice Maker is located to the left of the Refrigerator. Because of the energy drain on the inverter batteries it is not recommended to use when anchored. Heating System Diesel Heater (DC) 1. The ESBAR Diesel Forced-Air Furnace is located starboard side of the engine room towards the front. 2. The Thermostat and ON/OFF control is located at the top of the stair leading to the staterooms. To turn on the heat, move the switch to the O (on) position. Rotate the black knob clockwise to desired setting. It will take a few minutes before it begins circulating heat. 3. Regulate the heat using the thermostat. 4. Heating vents (black and round) are located in the Salon, Galley/Pilot House stairs, the two heads, and the forward state room. 5. The exhaust for the system is under the swim platform. Best Practice: Turn off the heat when not on the boat. Electric Heaters (AC) 1. Three additional electric heaters are located in the Pilot House and each State Room. 2. To use the electric heaters, AC power is required, either by using the generator or being connected to shore power. 3. Heater controls are located on the units in each location. 4. Be sure to turn on the heater circuit breaker at AC panel before using electric heaters. Garmin Multi-Function Display (GMFD) (GPSMAPS 8000 Series) General Information 1. There are two Garmin 15 GPSMAP 8015 touch screen display panels. The integrated system includes a chart plotter, radar, sonar, autopilot, automatic identification system (AIS), and audio. There is also an Auto Pilot Control Unit and an Instrument Display Unit between the two 15 Mystic Dancer Operation Manual

screens. On the Fly Bridge station there is a duplicate Auto Pilot Control Unit and Instrument Display. 2. The power key is located on the upper right side of the display screen and should be used when turning the unit off. Do not turn off the unit using the breaker. 3. The display is operated using a touchscreen. 4. Tap the screen to select an item. 5. Drag or swipe your finger across the screen to pan or scroll. 6. Pinch two finger together to zoom out. Spread two fingers apart to zoom in. 7. Select Home from either screen to return to the Home page. 8. Select Menu from either screen/home page to access additional settings about that screen. 9. Select Info from either screen to access Tides and Currents as well as the complete Owner s Manual. 10. Before operating Mystic Dancer, review Garmin Owner s Manual. A paper copy of the GPSMAP 8015 Owner s Manual is located in Pilot House starboard cabinet and an electronic version can be accessed on the display by selecting Info from either of the display screens. Garmin Multi-Function Display/Glass Cockpit Auto Pilot Control and Instrument Display Unit Important Note: Shut down both screens BEFORE using the davit when lowering or raising the tender to avoid inadvertent shut-down of electronics. Important Note: Turn off all electronics at the display screen BEFORE turning off at the breaker to avoid improper shut-down sequence Home Screen 1. From the Home Screen you can display the chart plotter, radar, and sonar. In the right hand margin are pre-selected displays. At the top of this list is Favorites which includes everything needed to effectively manage the Garmin Integrated System. Mystic Dancer Operation Manual

2. Within the Favorites selection on the left screen are four smart-mode choices. A smart mode selection will engage both screens in predetermined choices relating to cruising, docking, and anchoring. 3. Media and Video can only be accessed through the right screen Favorites selection. 4. Please do not edit layout format of the Favorite selections. Automatic Identification System (AIS) 1. The AIS enables you to identify and track other vessels, and alerts you to area traffic. The chart plotter shows AIS information about other vessels that are within range and are equipped with a transponder that is actively transmitting AIS information. 2. Mystic Dancer is equipped to both transmit and receive AIS information. 3. AIS information is only displayed on the right screen. 4. To activate an AIS target, touch the AIS icon on the screen and select AIS vessel then select activate target. AIS information such as the name of a vessel, heading, and speed will appear on your screen. This will allow you to hail the vessel by name if needed. Garmin Auto-Pilot General Information 1. Do not engage auto pilot without reading the manual. 2. The normal mode of the auto pilot is to hold a heading. While convenient, using the auto pilot will dramatically delay your response time to an obstacle, such as a log or crab pot buoy. The autopilot system continuously adjusts the steering of your boat to maintain a constant heading. You are responsible for the safe and prudent operation of the vessel. The autopilot is a tool that will enhance your capability to operate the boat. It does not relieve you of the responsibility of safely operating the boat! Always be prepared to regain manual control when necessary. 3. Do not use auto routing because it often navigates too closely to rocks and hazards or even directly at submerged rocks. 4. Do not engage the autopilot when near hazards in the water, such as docks, pilings and other boats. 5. The autopilot screen displays the actual heading when disengaged (standby mode) and selected heading when engaged. A duplicate display is located on the flybridge. 6. When you engage the autopilot, the autopilot takes control of the helm and steers the boat to maintain your heading. The steering wheel becomes ineffective. 7. The auto pilot pump is very sensitive and at slow speeds will over work and fail. Do not engage auto pilot at slow speeds. Only engage at cruising RPM of 1300 or greater. Don t forget to disengage auto pilot when powering down. 8. Do not block tiller bar located in the lazarette with luggage or gear as it will impede the pump and your ability to turn the boat. Best Practice: Only use auto pilot in heading mode and at 1300 RPM or greater. Mystic Dancer Operation Manual

Garmin Multi-Instrument Display General Information 1. This device displays GPS speed, depth, wind speed, and wind direction. 2. There is a duplicate display on the flybridge. Garmin Multi-Instrument Display and Auto Pilot VHF Radio General Information 1. Mystic Dancer is equipped with three VHF radios. One in the pilot house starboard dash, a second one on the flybridge, and a third hand-held radio in the pilot house. 2. Monitor channel 16 when operating the boat. 3. Monitor weather daily by using weather channels on VHF radio. Sound System (Garmin Meteor 300) Sirius XM Radio 1. Mystic Dancer s media system is incorporated within the Garmin suite and displayed on the starboard chart plotter. For the media system to work three DC breakers must be turned on: stereo, instruments, and starboard chart plotter. 2. From the home page under Favorites select Media. Then under the Menu select Devices > Meteor. 3. Think of the Meteor as an amplifier that controls volume and source. There are two speaker zones, one for inside the boat and one for outside the boat. Volume for each zone is controlled at the Meteor screen. 4. Also at the Meteor screen is an option to select the source, such as ipod, AM/FM, Aux, and Aux2. Sirius XM Radio is accessed by selecting AUX and not the Sirius XM source option. Mystic Dancer Operation Manual

5. Once Aux is selected as the source, from the bottom of the screen select Menu. Now select Devices > Sirius XM. From the Sirius XM screen you can select XM stations. 6. To select a different source, go back to the Meteor screen by selecting Menu > Devices > Meteor. ipod Dock 1. From the home page on the right screen under Favorites select Media. Then under the Menu select Devices > Meteor. 2. From the Meteor page select Source > ipod. 3. Follow the menu prompts to select music. The ipod plug-in is located above the bar area and has a USB port labeled Meteor, ipod. 4. Once the ipod is plugged in, the ipod can be controlled at the starboard screen Meteor page. Aux2 1. Aux2 allows the use of an MP3 devise through a headphone jack using a RCA chord. The chord connection is located in the area above the bar labeled Meteor, Aux2, MP3. TV/DVD Player 1. The TV/DVD is located in the Salon entertainment cabinet. A second TV is located in the Master State Room. Outlets for the salon and/or cabin 1 need to be turned on at the AC panel for the TV/ DVD to work. 2. To view a DVD, turn on the TV and select HMDI-1. Insert disc, then select Play on the remote. 3. Mystic Dancer is equipped with an HDTV antenna. It may be possible to pick up broadcast signals when close to major cities by selecting Antenna then searching for channels. Anchoring Standard Anchor 1. The primary WORKING ANCHOR is a Bruce anchor which is attached to 330 feet of chain followed by 70 feet of rope for a total of 400 feet of ground tackle. The chain and rope are stowed in the starboard ANCHOR LOCKER. 2. The Anchor Locker is accessed through cabinet doors located in the master stateroom behind the mirrors. 3. Before lowering the anchor, be sure the anchor keeper and ratchet brakes (2) are released. Attach the WINDLESS POWER CONTROL located under the Pilot House starboard step to the receptacle starboard of the anchor at the bow. If a clicking sound happens while trying to lower the anchor, be sure BOTH brakes are released. 4. Either the engines or generator must be running to ensure there is enough electrical power to operate the WINDLESS. Mystic Dancer Operation Manual

5. The WINDLESS POWER BREAKER is located in Cabin 1 at the foot of the bed. This breaker also controls the bow thruster and is left on at all times. 6. Point the vessel into the wind where you plan to drop anchor. Stop the forward momentum of the boat at anchor location. 7. At the bow, tap gently on the down control to lower the anchor over the pulpit. If necessary, guide the anchor over the anchor roller to prevent binding on the pulpit. 8. Press and hold the down control to let out sufficient ANCHOR RODE (chain) before setting the anchor. The length of chain should be slightly more than the depth of the water - enough for the anchor to settle at the bottom. 9. The chain markings are based on the use of the bridle which adds an additional 30 feet of chain once attached. USE THE BRIDLE WHENEVER ANCHORING TO TAKE LOAD OFF THE BOW PULPIT! The chain is marked as follows: Green ties = anchor at water line White ties = 50 feet Red ties = 100 feet 2nd White tie = 150 feet Blue tie = 200 feet 3rd White tie = 250 feet Black tie = 300 feet Unmarked = feet 10. To set the anchor, apply short bursts of REVERSE power from one engine then the other to get the boat moving in reverse while letting out additional scope dependent upon conditions. 11. Attach bridle (located in bow locker) by clipping hook onto the anchor chain and attaching bridle lines to bow cleats. Let out more chain until the bridle carries the load from the anchor chain - approximately 30 additional feet of chain. 12. Stow Windless Power Control under starboard Pilot House step. DO NOT LEAVE OUTSIDE! 13. Attach stern line when conditions dictate. A yellow Flat Line is stowed on the port rail of the Fly Bridge for this purpose, (see photo below). Release stern line before raising the anchor. 14. Before raising the anchor, ALWAYS START THE ENGINES and set the battery selector to BOTH as it uses large amounts of power. Keep the engines in NEUTRAL. 15. Attach hose to the saltwater faucet for anchor wash down and turn it on. Hose is located in port bow locker. Be sure the salt water breaker is turned on at DC panel. 16. Detach bridle and stow in locker. 17. Attach the WINDLESS POWER CONTROL and turn it on. Keep the engines in neutral and apply short bursts of forward to move boat over anchor. As the boat moves toward the anchor, press the up control to take up slack in the line. Keep hands away from chain while raising anchor to avoid injury. Spray the chain as it is being raised out of the water. Mystic Dancer Operation Manual

18. Place a crew member in position to guide the anchor onto the roller. As the anchor rises, be careful not to allow it to swing against the hull. Be sure to wash it down before securing it to the boat. 19. Reconnect the keeper between the anchor and windless and flip the ratchet brakes into place. Turn off the Windless Power Control and stow it under the Pilot House starboard step. DO NOT LEAVE OUTSIDE! Turn off salt water breaker. Note: A SPARE DANFORTH ANCHOR is stowed in the lazarette. The 450 feet SPARE ANCHOR RODE is located on the port side of the divided anchor locker located behind the master stateroom headboard mirrors. Attach the rode securely to the chain shackle. The spare chain and rode are marked as follows: Chain = 20 feet, Red = 100 feet, Blue = 200 feet, Yellow = 300 feet, Green = 400 feet, unmarked = 30 additional feet. Total = 450 feet. Windless Control and Salt Water Wash-down Flat Line for stern tie-off & towing Dinghy Mooring Buoys 1. The Washington State Park mooring buoys are limited to 45 foot maximum boat length and are not available for use by Mystic Dancer. 2. To pick up a mooring buoy with a capacity to hold a 55 foot boat, come up to it into the wind as you would for anchoring. Pick up the Buoy at mid-ship door location using a gaffing hook (clipped by the salon windows). 3. Have crew member ready at mid-ship with the hook and a mooring line. 4. Approach the buoy slowly and have the crew point at the Buoy so the skipper always knows where it is. 5. Mooring Buoys have a metal triangle on the top with a ring where the bow line attaches. Once along side Buoy, have crew put line through ring and walk the line forward and attach to the cleats through the Hawse Holes on either side of the bow. This essentially creates a bridle with about 10 feet of slack from the cleat to the Mooring Buoy. 6. Do not engage bow thrusters with any lines in the water to prevent wrapping the lines in the bow thruster prop. 7. To release the BUOY, turn on the engines and put them in neutral. Mystic Dancer Operation Manual

8. Check your surroundings and determine your exit strategy. 9. Place a crew member at the bow who will release the bow line from Mooring Buoy. Give a quick burst of engine power to create forward momentum and slack in the line. Release line then back away from Buoy. 10. When clear of Buoy, motor away. Dinghy & Outboard Motor General Information 1. Your Rendova 11 foot DINGHY has a 25 hp Yamaha four-stroke engine and is stored on the Fly Bridge. The internal fuel tank holds 30 liters/8.4 gallons. Fuel gage is inaccurate an not to be trusted. 2. The Dinghy has a capacity of about 1035 pounds which includes the weight of the motor, equipment, and a maximum of 4 people. 3. On the port side of the motor and at the end of the gear shift is an electronic trim tab for lowering and raising the motor. 4. The gear shift for the Dinghy Motor is located to the right of the DINGHY WHEEL. Be sure the gear shift is straight up or in neutral before starting the engine. Push the handle forward to engage the engine and move forward. Pull the gear shift back for reverse. Steer using the wheel. 5. To start the Dinghy Motor, lift choke tab and turn the key for electric start. 6. Be sure to raise the motor when Dinghy is not in use! 7. When entering shallow water be sure to raise the motor to avoid prop damage! 8. The dingy battery is located in the cabinet in the steering council. Attached to the battery is a charger that can be used with AC power. There is an AC power outlet on the flybridge to the left of the steering wheel. A green power cord is located under the bench by the steering wheel. 9. A foot pump for filling the dingy tubes with air is located under the bench by the steering wheel on the flybridge. Dingy Motor Mystic Dancer Operation Manual

Deploying the Dinghy to or from the Fly Bridge 1. To deploy the DINGHY, attach the center clip of the DINGHY CABLES (connected to the bow and stern) to the CABLE RING on the motorized DAVIT pulley system if not already attached. 2. Turn on the Davit circuit breaker located on the DC panel and verify battery selection is set to Both. 3. Attach the DAVIT POWER CONTROL (located under the Pilot House starboard step) to the receptacle located behind the starboard rear cushion on the Fly Bridge. (See photo below) Davit Control & Plug-in 4. Raise Davit Arm until black electrical tape markings are in a straight line. 5. Loosen clamp for Davit to swivel freely. 6. Push the up button for the line on the Davit Power Control to lift the Dinghy about 12 inches above the cradle. Have a crew members available on the Fly Bridge to guide the Dinghy as needed to avoid scraping the boat. 7. Position one crew member at the lower side deck below to guide the Dinghy away from the side of the boat as it is lowered to the water if need be. 8. Swing the DAVIT ARM perpendicular to the boat. Align the Dinghy so that it is parallel with the boat and clear of all obstacles. 9. Do not change the angle of the Davit arm when raising or lowering the Dinghy. 10. Press the down line button on the Davit Power Control and lower non-stop the Dinghy into the water. Do not stop or pause until dingy hits the water because this causes the dingy to bounce which puts extreme pressure on the Davit structure. 11. Have the crew member on the lower side deck secure the Dinghy bow line to a boat cleat and release the DAVIT CABLE from the Dinghy. 12. Raise the Davit Cable and swing the Davit Arm back into place over the Fly Bridge deck. 13. Turn off the Davit Breaker and stow the Controller. 14. To raise the Dinghy, follow these procedures in reverse. When the black tape marks on the Davit arm and Davit base align, the dinghy is in proper position to be lowered onto storage rail. (See photo below) Mystic Dancer Operation Manual

Note: Coast Guard regulations state that any child 14 and under must wear a life jacket in a dinghy. It is a good idea for EVERYONE to follow this rule. Align black tape marks to stow Dinghy Dinghy attached to Davit Towing the Dinghy 1. When towing the Dinghy, always keep it tight to the boat any time that you slow down or stop. 2. Assign a crew member as the Dinghy person who is responsible for taking up the slack in the Dinghy line to avoid wrapping the propeller! 3. To tow the Dinghy, attach the yellow Flat Line located on the port side rail at the Fly Bridge. Run the yellow flatline through the Hawse Hole in the cockpit and tie off at cleat to avoid pressure on rail above. 4. Attach to the I-bolt in the center of the bow on the Dinghy, not the side cleats or rails. Barbecue Grill General Information 1. The BARBECUE is stored in the lazarette and the MOUNTING BRACKET is located on the stern rail. 2. Place barbecue rods into the bracket. Reverse the procedure to dismount the barbecue. 3. Before cooking, place the gray mat under barbecue to protect the teak deck from drippings! 4. Attach a PROPANE BOTTLE to the REGULATOR on the right side of the grill. Propane gas canisters (green) are located under starboard bench in Cockpit. 5. Carefully light the grill, preferably with a long-stem butane lighter. Note: Propane bottles are not stocked by AYC. Purchase as needed. Caution - for safety reason, do not store an opened propane bottle within the salon or engine compartment. Chances are these will leak slightly once opened and propane gas could settle into low spaces. Store these bottles in cockpit bench locker. Because the barbecue generates a lot of heat and cooks hot and fast, ensure gasoline and flammable materials are not near the barbecue. Remove all used and unused fuel bottles from vessel at end of charter. Mystic Dancer Operation Manual

Crabbing & Fishing General Information 1. Always check the fishing and crabbing regulations and requirements before you leave on your cruise. It is up to the skipper to be current with fishing and crabbing regulations and closures - many areas are CLOSED to crabbing and fishing during certain months. See Washington State Department of Fisheries at or Fisheries and Oceans Canada at for pertinent regulations. 2. You will need a license. 3. Fishing gear and crab pots are NOT provided on this vessel but can be rented from AYC or from the Owner s package. Brackets for storing fishing poles are located on the side of the boat outside the Salon. Crab pots should be stowed on the Fly Bridge using bungie cords. 4. When crabbing, CRAB AWAY FROM THE BOAT! Lines can get wrapped around the props. Crab from dingy only! 5. To bait the ring, fish-flavored cat food (canned w/pop-up lid) is recommended to avoid the mess of fresh fish bait. 6. Use the Dinghy to drop your crab pots and be sure the buoy is attached to the line. Use duct tape to write your name and address on the buoy as per crabbing regulations. 7. Retrieve the crab pots and throw back female crabs into the water. Measure the remaining male crabs using the CRAB MEASURING GUAGE located in the Pilot House cabinet drawer, port side. Keep the male crabs of proper size (usually 6 1/4 inches across the carapace but check regulations). 8. A CRAB STOCK POT is not included in Mystic Dancer s inventory but is available through the Owner s Package or can be rented thru AYC. Set up Stock Pot in the center of the Cockpit for cooking or use the grill. The open flames get very hot and will stain and melt the side rails so keep well away or cook on the dock. Fill with fresh water and boil crabs for about 12 minutes. 9. After using, WASH EQUIPMENT THOROUGHLY with fresh water (available from the Cockpit hose bib). 10. Stow all gear. Please do not store rings. stock pot, or any fishing gear inside the boat! Miscellaneous Safety 1. SAFETY should be paramount in your daily cruising. A MAN OVERBOARD DRILL should be discussed and perhaps even practiced with a floating object such as a life jacket. 2. Life jackets are stowed under the settee in the Pilot House (short section) and under the port Fly Bridge bench. A few should always be out and ready. 3. Flares and safety equipment are located in the cabinet above the stair to the Pilot House. 4. Fire extinguishers (4) are located in the Master Stateroom, the Galley beside the refrigerator, the Pilot House behind the settee, and the Engine Room. 5. The FIRE BOY is located in the engine room, mounted on the ceiling. The control can also be accessed from the salon under the settee. (See photo below) Mystic Dancer Operation Manual

Fire Boy Fire Boy Control access from Salon Settee 6. A first aid kit is located in the Pilot House port side cabinet. 7.
