1 Why choose The Hague for Offshore Sailing World Championship 2018? In 2018 the city of The Hague will be all about sailing and a sailing showcase to the world. Over the years, Dutch offshore sailing teams race under both IRC and ORC handicap and have enjoyed the hospitality of previous organising countries. We owe it to the ORC and IRC community and fellow racers from all over the world to invite them to the low lands to experience the hospitality and the treasure called North Sea. Compact, accessible and attractive The Hague, with its charm, history and modern seaport is the perfect location to host the Offshore Sailing World Championships in The compact port is more than sufficient to accommodate all boats and is just a stone s throw from the competition areas. The surrounding event grounds will complement the race village in addition to existing lively streets and boulevards offering a wide variety of restaurants, bars and shops. Where sports drives technology Handicap racing is all about measurement and technology to measure, continuously adapting and optimising with the goal of ever more fair sailing competition. 3 Venue map Regatta Office The regatta office is located in a temporary building, located across Hellingweg 21. Opening hours of the Offshore Sailing Worlds 2018 Regatta office are as followed: Thursday 12 July :00-20:00 Existing offices and temporary buildings will be used for the registration & regatta office, race management rooms, jury rooms, sail measurement, medical staff, volunteers, media centre, etc. The official notice board will be placed near the regatta office as well as pushed out to the digital devices, and a sound system will be available to make announcements to the participants. It can get very crowded and traffic jams are not uncommon. We urge participants to use public transportation or commute like the locals by bike. Move like the Dutch and reserve your bike: Restricted event area As of 9 July until 21 July, the Hellingweg and the event area are restricted areas and only open to residents, suppliers to the event with a permit and local companies at the Hellingweg. 3

4 General Information Docks & berths Electricity outlets are available on the docks. You can connect your vessel with a CE plug to 230V free of charge. Fresh potable water is provided on reels on the jetty (south side). If your ship is 3 rd rafted, more an extra line to the dock. It is not allowed to cycle on the dock or swim or fish in the marina. Payment event area and Race Village Method of payment in the Race Village is with Worlds coins; they can be obtained at the designated area. Shops in the Race Village might accept card payment. See Contact details of other useful facilities where to find cash machines in the vicinity. Toilets and showers On the South side: Toilets and showers are available at the Harbor Office at Hellingweg 96, across the main dock and are open 24/7. More toilets and showers are also available at the National Training Center (NTC) at specific opening hours. On the North side: On the north side 2 more toilet units will be provided. Washing machines Coin operated washing machines and dryers are located next to the Harbor Office; coins as well as washing powder can be obtained at the Harbor Office. Waste Please recycle and separate your waste. Sufficient waste bins and waste containers are available on the event area. We ask you urgently to use these bins, please help us to make this event sustainable and to keep the venue clean! Wi-Fi / internet Free Wi-Fi is provided throughout the harbor by The Hague free Wi-Fi. Login as a guest for a 20- minute connection. After 20 minutes you can re-login. 4

5 Getting there and away The Hague is ideally situated for the Offshore Sailing Worlds 2018 with easy access by water, air, public transport and road: By water The Port of The Hague / Scheveningen is situated directly to the open North Sea and is easy to reach from the north, south and west. By air Schiphol Amsterdam Airport is one of the 5 largest airline hubs in Europe and can be reached directly from over 150 European airports and over 100 intercontinental destinations, with some flights a week. From Schiphol the venue can be reached in 45 minutes by car and 60 minutes by public transport. Rotterdam The Hague Airport is a growing international airport, strategically located near The Hague, offering frequent and easy connections with the main European Airports. From this airport the venue can be reached in 30 minutes by car and 60 minutes by public transport. Getting around in the Netherlands To get around the country you can choose to travel by train or by car. By train An excellent Public Transport System with direct connections by train, tram and bus brings you to the venue. The venue is 15 minutes from The Hague Central Station. When you travel by train, you ll need an OV-chipcard. Check the section below (Public Transport) for more information about public transport in the Netherlands. The train timetable can be found here: By car The Hague is directly connected to an extensive road network with highways from the north, east and south leading directly to The Hague. Getting around The Hague By Public transport To be able to travel by public transport in The Hague you will need an OV-chipcard with sufficient credit on it for your journey. An OV-chipcard for public transport can be purchased at railway station ticket machines and at stores including Albert Heijn supermarket, Bruna and Primera. You can top up your OV-chipcard at the HTM (tram) service points in both The Hague Central Station and The Hague Hollands Spoor (HS) Station. If you don t have an OV-chipcard, you can buy a day card for one day s unlimited travel on HTM transport at the Tourist Information Office (the VVV ) in The Hague

6 By Bike The Hague is a compact city with excellent bicycle paths. Biking is the Dutch way of transport. In the summertime it gets you, in most cases, from a-to-b faster than any other transportation method. So, move like the Dutch! In one of the greenest cities in Europe a bike experience should not be missed. Reserve your bike: Pick up and drop off the bike throughout many sites in The Hague, including Race Village. Parking - cars It is not possible to enter the event area with your car or van. In the vicinity of the event area in Scheveningen parking is limited. To prevent fines and towing of incorrectly parked vehicles please be aware that emergency services require an open passage to the venue. Parking alternative options 1. Houtrustweg (free parking in the street until 18:00 hours / capacity 185) 2. Parking Zuiderstrandtheater (paid parking 5,- / capacity 350) 3. Parking only available to local businesses and habitants 4. Kranenburgweg (free parking in the street until 18:00 hours) 5. Dr. Lelykade (free parking in the street until 18:00 hours) 6. Dr. Lelykade public parking garage De Reder, next to supermarket Jumbo (paid parking, limited opening hours) 7. Dr. Lelykade public parking garage next to Gamma (paid parking, limited opening hours) We cannot stress enough: we urgently request participants and visitors to use public transport, use the bike, or, if car usage is unavoidable to carpool as much as possible. Parking - trailers / containers If reserved upfront, trailers and containers can be parked on the wharf close to the marina. 7 Race Village The Race Village can be found at the centre of all the action, close to the jetties. This includes a stage, food and beverages, and is the gathering place for sailors and public to be before and after the races. The entire venue will be open to the public. We ll have a spectacular Opening Ceremony of the Worlds on Saturday 14 July in the heart of the Race Village to open and present the event and the teams to the public. Everyday from Monday 16 until Friday 20 July, from 15:00 20:00 hours the Race Village is the lively center of activities and home to suppliers of nautical equipment, shops, foodtrucks, drinks, live Music or DJ, and all is open to the public. The bars remain open until 21:00 hours. Why not taste locally brewed beer, or enjoy a fine wine? Do not forget to compete in the Harken Grinder Challenge or try your best to win that bitcoin wallet. Also, on most days prizes will be awarded at 17:30 hours to the (daily) winners of the different programs and campaigns. Friday 20 July we crown the winners of the Worlds 2018; with a Closing Ceremony and an excellent party were we ll celebrate the Worlds 2018 winners with all participating sailors to leave with a big smile and life-long memories. 7
