The ladder is then placed at the edge of the roped off area. Harnesses are checked by instructors immediately before they are attached to the swing. Two carabiners are used at all times. Planks of wood Initiative Games/Group Challenges Fitzroy Falls Cference Centre, both fixed and mobile elements Ctrols/Management Wherever possible a full risk assessment of the new locati should be undertaken prior to the sessi starting Where a full risk assessment is not possible (eg the usual locati becomes compromised by a snake or fallen tree at the beginning of a sessi), then the instructor should do a thorough visual survey of the new locati for any identifiable hazards, and ly begin the sessi/challenge if no immmediate risks are identified. If they have any doubts, the instructor is to skip that challenge, or move the group to a locati that is usually used, and safe. Instructor to explain the correct techniques for spotting where it is able to be used 4 L4,C3 Instructor to stop any lifting where there is not adequate strength or spotting to support the pers who is off the ground. Instructor to be aware of elements that are more likely to cause this hazard and alert to it at all other times. Where it seems likely, participants will be encouraged to think of a different method of solving the challenge Where lifting and passing of participants is a part of the group challenge and therefore unavoidable, participants will be encouraged to be passed head first through an element and facing upwards. Check all initiative areas for any potentially dangerous branches Move any fallen sticks or branches away from initiative areas Move any other foreign objects Briefing of that challenge to include a cauti weight and difficulty of moving these objects and a warning to be mindful of where other particpants are while moving these objects Ctinued supervisi of participants to ensure that they are handling the objects correctly, and the activity stopped if they are not. Instructor then mitors this throughout the sessi Participants must wait in the safe viewing area, and all others including climbers, belayers and instructors must wear a helmet.
