Follow the instructions of the manufacturer for the dosage of the anti-corrosion fluid. The anti-corrosion fluid has no effect on the absorption and scatter characteristics of highenergy radiation. PTW recommends the following procedure for initial filling of the system: Fill the Perspex tank up to the top horizontal mark with distilled water from a canister or a supply line. Then let the water flow into the SCANLIFT water reservoir: To start the emptying process briefly press once the WATER key on the SCANLIFT control pendant. To stop the emptying process press the STOP key Pumping Process CAUTION Improper handling. Equipment damage! Damage to building! Watch all pumping processes so that you can switch off the pump as soon as the Perspex tank has been completely filled or drained. When filling the Perspex tank the default setting for pumping at SCANLIFT of 4 minutes is too long and the Perspex tank would run over. Thus filling has to be done imperatively under visual inspection and the pump has to be stopped in time by pressing the STOP key. CAUTION Improper handling. Equipment damage! Make sure that the SCANLIFT pump never runs dry. If the pump runs dry, stop it immediately. Add additional water to the SCANLIFT water reservoir if necessary. PTW recommends filling additional water into the Perspex tank up to the maximum filling level in order to avoid bubbles and turbulences. D /01 en 35

36 Operating Manual Installation of the System for Measurement Pumping from SCANLIFT Water Reservoir into the Perspex Tank To start the pumping process from SCANLIFT water reservoir into the Perspex tank briefly press once the WATER key on the SCANLIFT control pendant. To stop the pumping process press the STOP key. Pumping from the Perspex Tank into SCANLIFT Water Reservoir To start the pumping process from the Perspex Tank into SCANLIFT Water Reservoir briefly press once the WATER key on the SCANLIFT control pendant. To stop the pumping process press the STOP key Draining the System CAUTION Improper handling. Equipment damage! The inclination required to completely drain the Perspex tank can be attained by adjusting one of the leg levelers of the positioning device accordingly. Do not tilt the tank manually. First empty the Perspex tank by draining the water from the Perspex tank into the SCANLIFT water reservoir. To start the emptying process briefly press once the WATER key on the SCANLIFT control pendant. To stop the emptying process press the STOP key. Move the SCANLIFT to a suitable drain and use the screw plug underneath the SCANLIFT to drain the water. CAUTION Improper handling. Equipment damage! After use, the Perspex tank should be drained to prevent deformation of the walls and undue stress on the seams. The Perspex tank may only be filled with water continuously for 12 hours maximum in order to avoid a damage of the Perspex tank due to the hygroscopic character of PMMA. The Perspex tank should not be filled again for further 12 hours. This allows the water that was incorporated in the PMMA to emit. 36 D /01 en
