LLOON GUN / REVOLVER INSTRUCTIONS Requirements: 1 x 160Q (black) 1 x 160Q (mocha brown) 1 x 260Q black [optional] 1. Inflate a black 160Q leaving a 4 (four inch) tail and tie the knot. Remember to burp the balloon by letting out a small amount of air just before you tie the knot. This will help soften the balloon making it easier for twisting. 2. Starting with the knot-end, we are going to make the muzzle/tip-end of the gun by making a tulip-twist. Start by putting your finger onto the knot [Take a sneak-peek at step#14 to see the parts of the gun we are going to start with] 3. With the knot under your finger-tip, push the knot back into the balloon about 1 inch (marked with a star in the photo) [Note: it always helps to wet/lick your finger before pushing it into the balloon as this makes it much easier to pull your finger out of the balloon afterwards] 4. To complete the tulip-twist, you must grab the knot of the balloon with your other hand as shown in the picture so that you can pull your hand out of the balloon I m holding the knot tightly here
5. The tulip-twist just needs to be twisted a few times to secure it. [Note it is good practice to push the knot slightly back into the balloon tulip twist part to really secure it in place so that it doesn t come loose] 6. Make a 3.5 bubble for the barrel of the gun (the part where the bullet is fired through). 7. Twist a 0.75 bubble and pinch-twist it. 8. Make a 2 nd 0.75 pinch-twist to match the previous one. The two pinch-twists should be placed next to each other as shown in the picture. These two pinch-twists ensure that the barrel is always kept straight. 9. We will now make the chamber of the gun. Start by making a 3 bubble.
10. Make a 1 pinch-twist. This will serve as the hammer part at the back of the gun (the part that pushes against the bullet to make the explosion) 11. Make another 3 bubble This 3 bubble must be twisted into the double-pinch-twist shown with the stars in the picture. The two 3 bubbles lying alongside each other 12. The two 3 bubble now lie alongside each other as part of the gun s chamber. 13. Make a third 3 bubble that needs to be twisted into the other pinch-twist at the back of the gun (the hammer) as shown with the stars. arrel Hammer 14. ll three 3 bubbles now lie alongside each other to form part of the gun s chamber. They lie alongside each other like a 3-bubble bird-body. Muzzle Chamber
15. Inflate a mocha brown 160Q leaving a 5 (five inch) tail and tie the knot. Remember to burp the balloon by letting out a small amount of air just before you tie the knot. This will help soften the balloon making it easier for twisting. 16. The knot of the brown balloon should be joined to the pinch-twist of the gun s hammer (shown with the star in the picture) 17. The brown balloon is tied to the pinchtwist as shown in the picture by wrapping the knot of the brown balloon a few times around the black pinch-twist. Half-inch bubble in black balloon 18. Make a small 0.5 bubble in each of the remaining black and brown balloons (that are protruding from the back of the gun) Half-inch bubble in brown balloon 19. Wrap the two half-inch bubbles around each other.
20. We will now make the handle of the gun with the brown balloon. Start by making a 3 bubble. 21. Twist a small half-inch bubble and make it into a pinch-twist (this will be the bottom of the gun s handle) 22. Twist a second 3 bubble for the gun s handle. This needs to be lock-twisted back with the first 3 bubble shown with the two stars in the picture. 23. The two 3 bubbles are lock-twisted together. 24. For the last part of the gun s handle, twist a 3.5 bubble. This last bubble needs to be joined with the bottom pinch-twist as shown by the two stars in the picture.
Longer 3.5 bubble 25. Position the three long brown bubbles (i.e. the two 3 bubbles and single 3.5 bubble) as shown in the picture so the longer bubble is a the back of the handle. This helps give the handle more of a curved look Shorter 3 bubbles 3 bubbles clustered together Slightly longer bubble (approx 3.25 ) 26. We are now going to continue making another 2 chambers for the gun so it will have 5 chambers in total. Start by twisting a 3.25 bubble so it is a fraction longer than the other 3 bubbles from step#13 (marked as ) 27. Twist a small 0.25 bubble (approx a quarter of an inch) marked as You now need to wrap the last twist over the double pinch-twists as shown in the picture. [It may help to first look at steps #28-30 to see this from other angles] 28. You can see from the picture how the small 0.25 bubble helps position the 3.25 bubble tightly against the other three chambers. Second 0.25 bubble C First 0.25 bubble 29. We will now do exactly the same types of twists for the other side of the gun. Start by making another small 0.25 bubble called C.
The two pinchtwist bubbles 30. nother close-up view of the two small 0.25 bubbles ( and C ) that sit just under the two pinch-twists. C C 31. Continue with the other 3.25 bubble on the other side of the gun shown as bubble D. D This bubble is lock-twisted in with the other 3.25 bubble ( ) as shown with the two stars in the picture. 3 bubble sitting on top in the middle 3.25 bubble at the bottom 3 bubble 32. This completes the 5-bullet chamber. The two 3.25 bubbles should both be at the bottom of the chamber. Two of the 3 bubbles should lie directly above them and the last 3 bubble should sit nicely in the middle on top of the gun 3 bubble 3.25 bubbles at the bottom 3 bubble 33. Here is a front view showing how the 3.25 bubbles are neatly lined up next to each other at the bottom of the chamber. The other 3 bubbles are hidden in this picture behind bubbles and C but are pointed out with arrows 1 bubble 34. Make a 1 bubble at the back of the gun (just above the brown handle) which will be pinch-twisted in the next step.
1 pinch-twist 35. Pinch-twist the 1 bubble as shown in the picture. This pinch-twist is positioned at the back of the handle to help keep the handle facing down. [Refer step #38 for a picture of the back of the gun] Ensure the remainder of the balloon is positioned below the chamber as shown in the picture to form the gun s trigger. E 36. Make a small/tiny bubble (less than 0.5 ) in the tip of the remainder of the balloon labeled E Pass this tiny bubble to wrap around both the two small twists shown with stars in the picture. This should hold both the small 0.25 bubbles together that were twisted in steps#27 and #29. C E 37. This picture shows how the tiny bubble from step#36 holds the other two 0.25 bubbles together and this keeps the trigger in place. 38. The back of the gun should look like this. 39. The completed gun should look like this. This version of the trigger is used for quick line-work. If you have more time, then you can make a more realistic trigger with the following steps:
Continue here from step #35 for the more detailed trigger 36a. Tie off and discard the remaining balloon. 37a. Inflate just a puff of air into a black 260Q so that it remains un-inflated. Tie off and cut so that the balloon is only 9 long. 38a. Starting with the tail-end of the balloon, push it behind bubble so that the tail of the un-inflated balloon sticks out between the two 3.25 bubbles marked and D. D Refer picture at step #39a D 39a. Starting with the tail-end of the balloon, push it behind bubble so that the tail of the un-inflated balloon sticks out between the two 3.25 bubbles marked and D. Refer picture at step #40a 40a. Stretch the remaining part of the uninflated balloon through the top section of the handle (i.e. around the pinch-twist from step #35) so that it sticks out below the chambers as shown in the next picture at step #41a
41a. The remaining part of the un-inflated balloon sticks out just below the gun s chambers at the top of the gun s handle. 42a. We are now ready to bend the uninflated balloon to form the rest of the gun s trigger C 43a. Take the knot of the un-inflated balloon and wrap it around both twists below bubbles and C marked with the two stars. Knot of uninflated balloon C 44a. The trigger is now complete with the knot securely wrapped around the joins just below the two small 0.25 bubbles and C. 45a. The gun/revolver is complete. It also works well with the chocolate/dark brown handle.
