Allison electronic transmissions are equipped with an external spin-on filter. The original filter from Allison comes with a magnetic flat washer. Replacement filters do not include these washers so before discarding remove the washer to install in the replacement filter. Be sure to use the Allison brand replacement filter and refer to your manual for filter service intervals. Be sure to change coolant every 2-3 years and keep the cooler exteriors free of dirt, leaves, etc. Re-torque U-bolts on springs after first 20 hours of operation, then annually, do not crown the top plate. Use spiral wrap on hoses that may rub against each other or on the frame, also use zip ties to keep bundles together. Snow or not you should run the Sno-Cat once a month, back and forth 100 feet and long enough to bring the coolant temperature up to normal operating range. Page 1 of 5

2 DIFFERENTIAL PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE Fluid Level: Tucker Sno-Cat Corporation recommends the differential fluid level to be half way up the pinion bearing, at a minimum. Because the front and rear differentials have a different angle the fluid level will be different from front to rear. Depending on what Tucker model it is, it may be necessary to run the fluid level above half pinion. This is because some axle tubes are higher than half pinion and it s important to have fluid run out the axle tubes to lubricate the hub bearings. Please see picture below for reference. In this picture the pinion angle is basically level so a fluid level half way up the pinion is about half the way up the axle tube. If the pinion angle is lower it will be necessary for the fluid level at the pinion to be higher because we require the axle fluid level to be at least one third. The differential fill holes, or dipsticks if so equipped, are correctly calibrated when the vehicles leave the factory. Fluid Level at pinion, 50% minimum. Axle Tube, 50% maximum. Service Intervals: The recommended service interval is at least every 500 hours or 6 months whichever comes first. Check fluid level monthly and refer to your manual for servicing tips and techniques. Recommended Lubricants: We recommend a full synthetic 75W/140 gear lubricant. 4 TRAVEL THROUGH TIME WITH TUCKER The year is Around the world Moscow announces putting the first man in orbit around the Earth, Cuba is invaded at Bay of Pigs, East Germans erect the Berlin Wall, the USSR fires a 50-megaton hydrogen bomb, and there are now 2,000 U.S. military advisers in South Vietnam. Back home John F. Kennedy has just taken over as President, in the first American Football Championship Game the Houston Oilers beat the LA Chargers 24-16, and Tucker Sno-Cat Corporation ships two special Sno-Cats to the Antarctic. The below 1961 photo shows Emmitt Tucker Sr. in front of two Model 843s loaded onto a rail car for the first leg of their journey. This was a joint venture between the National Science Foundation and the University of Wisconsin. These were large machines because part of their purpose was to provide housing and shelter for the research team, the interiors looked like a motor home Page 4 of 5

5 MEET DARREN TAPPIN Darren came to work for Tucker Sno-Cat Corporation in February of He was hired because of his skills as a welder and assigned to the Body Shop. Darren builds doors, hoods, dashes, and cab skin panels. He welds both aluminum and steel and is proficient with MIG, TIG, Spool Gun, and old school stick welding. Darren got hooked on welding while taking metal shop classes in high school. Since then he has worked for several local manufactures welding boats, tool boxes, trailers, and a sheet metal company. In addition to welding Darren also is trained on the high tech glue products we us on the door panels. Darren and very soon wife to be are raising two children. He is another Southern Oregon native and away from work enjoys his family, bow hunting, and hiking. He is also taking classes at Rogue Community College, working his way to a degree in Manufacturing/ Engineering Technology. Page 5 of 5
