SURF TASTER LESSONS Surfing that everyone can get on board with, and a great introduction to our waves. Activity is 90 minutes, with one hour on the waves. Delivered over five weeks, with 90 minutes instruction per week. 3 THE TIPI CLASSROOM Our innovative TiPi classroom sits right on the water s edge and is an inspiring setting for some creative learning. Full AV and WiFi, seats up to 60. Party venue for up to 100. SURF ACADEMY Our team of expert surf coaches at our academy is led by former British Junior Team coach and multiple Welsh and British champion, Jo Dennison. Highly qualified and experienced, Jo s team will help your students to progress their skills with smiles all round. RESIDENTIALS AND STAYING OVER With so much North Wales adventure, culture and heritage right on our doorstep, our accommodation is the ideal base for a residential field trip. 4 GEOGRAPHY CURRICULUM You ll find our surf lagoon in the village of Dolgarrog, seven miles from the UNESCO World Heritage site at Conwy and on the edge of the Snowdonia National Park. We re surrounded by the mountains, lakes, forests and rivers of North Wales. It s a diverse and dynamic setting packed full of living geography, history and heritage. Surf Snowdonia was built on a redundant industrial site and is an excellent example of regeneration and how an evolving global economy has impacted the landscape and local communities. WELLBEING We work with a number of schools, community clubs and charities including Clwb Syrffio Dyffryn Conwy, The Wave Project and Help for Heroes to deliver wellbeing focused surf courses. Surfing can help to reduce stress and anxiety, improve confidence and increase concentration. Anecdotally we have seen how this has directly translated into improved student outcomes in the classroom. The Wave Project has extensive survey data on how their surfing programme has transformed young lives. HEALTHIER LIVES Tackling childhood obesity and physical inactivity is one of the major challenges of our times. We believe that encouraging young people to take part in new, fun activities and challenges can help to broaden their horizons and foster a life-long love of sport. Our structured and engaging activities can help to amplify your school s efforts to support healthy lives. There is evidence that physical activity and participating in organised sports and after school clubs is linked to improved academic performance and better exam outcomes. DUKE OF EDINBURGH AND OTHER AWARDS Surfing is a great activity for younger children to master for a scout badge, or for older students to choose for their DofE Physical. They will be encouraged and supported by our expert surf coaches. Instruction available for groups or individuals.

6 IS THERE A LIMIT ON GROUP SIZE? There is no limit on group size but you may need to stagger your activities! We can teach a maximum of 24 beginner surfers per hour. Our Crash & Splash lagoon has a maximum group size of 24 per hour. Surfers learn at a ratio of 6 :1. DO YOU HAVE TO BE A STRONG SWIMMER? Our lagoon isn t very deep but we recommend that everyone using our facilities should be able to swim unaided for at least 50 metres. Your students should feel happy and confident in the water. DO WE NEED TO BRING ANY SPECIAL CLOTHING OR EQUIPMENT? Students should bring swimwear, a towel and comfortable clothing. If you are staying the night you need to bring sleeping bags and pillows. We supply all your activity equipment, including wetsuits. We recommend that students wear sunblock on the lagoon. CAN YOU HELP WITH FUNDING? We can point you in the direction of various possible funding bodies including Awards4All, Sport Wales Community Chest and the Postcode Lottery Trust. Ask us for our funding information sheet. WHEN DO I NEED TO PAY? We take a 20% deposit when you make your booking. The balance should be paid at least 20 days before your visit. CAN I MODIFY MY BOOKING ONCE I HAVE PAID? If you need to change any detail of your booking, please contact us immediately and we will do our very best to accommodate. No changes can be made within 14 days of the booking date. WHAT HAPPENS IF IT RAINS? Our water-based activities are not affected by the rain. Team building activities can take place indoors.

7 DRIVING TO SURF SNOWDONIA If you re coming by car we re just 7 miles from the main A55 North Wales arterial route with a final run-in just 15 minutes from the main expressway. Liverpool and Manchester city centres are around 1.5 hours drive away, and the city of Chester just 50 minutes. If you re coming from further afield the A55 links in pretty seamlessly with the North West s motorway network at the M53 and M56. YSGOL ABERCONWY SCHOOL The children are absolutely loving their time here at Surf Snowdonia. The facilities and the instructors are brilliant, they have taken their time with the children and you can tell they re having a really great time. The Tipi is the perfect place for the children to gather when they aren t taking part in activities. SANDBACH RUGBY CLUB Just wanted to say a massive thank you for such an amazing weekend. Everyone had such a brilliant time. Things really could not have been any better. For me, to have lots of grumpy 13-year olds, who normally just grunt, come running up to me with huge grins saying thank you and telling me what a brilliant time they are having, makes it all worthwhile. They showed great understanding when one of our young people struggled to put on his wetsuit and reassured our other young people that they would not lose any time on the activity.
