Both the JCafé inside and the JCafé Poolside will feature a point-of-sale credit card swipe system that sends a receipt directly to your or cell phone. To expedite the ordering process at the Outdoor Pool, there will be a separate window on the side of the café facing the pool where you can place your order. You ll still be able to pick up your order at the main café window. Enjoy your summer at the Outdoor Pool and enjoy the JCafé Poolside! Pool P arties Celebrate birthdays and other special occasions at the JCC Outdoor Pool. You and your guests may swim and play in the Outdoor Pool for up to one hour, plus enjoy a half hour in the picnic area. Call for details. Reserved for Outdoor Pool members only. Cost: $350 Slide rental: $75 Maximum number of kids per party is 20. Must be age 3 and older for parties. Includes two party coordinators for the activity for the duration of the party. Food must be purchased from the JCafé Poolside. 2

6 2018 Outdoor Pool Events and Activities Member BBQ Thursday, August 2 (6-8pm) No charge for Outdoor Pool members. Guests are welcome for an additional fee. Ongoing Activities: June 18-August 19 Plenty of fun for the entire family all summer long! Arts and crafts, inflatable water slides, ping pong and foosball. Shabbat Programs: Friday, July 13 and Friday, August 10 (4-7pm) with Temple Emanuel. Arts and crafts: Monday through Thursday (4-7pm), Friday (3:30-6:30pm), Saturday and Sunday (10am-1pm). Children must be supervised by an adult for the entire duration of the crafting activity. Water slides: Monday through Thursday (3-7pm), Friday (3-6:30pm), Saturday and Sunday (1-4pm). Tennis Lessons: For information and pricing, please contact tennis@jccgb.org or Tennis Courts: Courts are available for use by Outdoor Pool members with priority given to tennis camps, classes and lessons. Racquets and tennis balls can be signed out at the pool desk. Call to reserve a court. 3

7 Services and Fees 1. Adult and Children s Guest Passes Guest passes may be purchased at the Outdoor Pool office. Adult Guest Pass (18 years and older): $20/adult Adult Guest Pass Books: $180 for 10 passes Child Guest Pass (2-17 years): $10/child Child Guest Pass Books: $90 for 10 passes All guests must be accompanied by an Outdoor Pool member. Adult guests must bring a photo ID that will be scanned. See detailed guest policies on page Family Caregiver Pass Families with permanent caregiver(s) for their children may purchase a Family Caregiver Pass. For each Caregiver Pass purchased, a family may have up to three caregivers, each with his/her own access card. Caregivers may use the Outdoor Pool only when accompanying the member s child(ren). Caregivers must bring a valid JCC Caregiver access card and an additional form of identification with their photo. Only one caregiver per family may visit the Outdoor Pool at a time, and they may not bring their own guests. For more information, call Season pass for 1-3 permanent caregivers: $149/pass 3. Babysitting (available to Indoor JCC members only) Babysitting is available on a space-available basis indoors at the JCC. For more information, call Swim Diapers and Vinyl Swim Pants for Children A swim diaper and a waterproof vinyl swim pant are required for all children under 3.5 years of age, regardless of whether they are potty-trained. No exceptions will be made. For your convenience, these items are available for purchase at the Outdoor Pool office. 5. Swim Classes Private and group lessons are available only in the indoor pool. For more information, contact the Aquatics Department at Lost and Found The Outdoor Pool has a lost and found bin. We are not responsible for lost items. The items left in the bin will be donated bi-weekly. We will send out an to all Outdoor Pool members one week prior to when donations will be made. 7. 8 Make the Most of Your Experience Membership Policies and Rules Our primary goal is to provide a safe, comfortable and enjoyable experience for all Outdoor Pool members and their guests. Civil and courteous behavior is expected at all times. Abusive treatment by members or guests to other members, guests or staff will not be tolerated and may result in the suspension or revocation of an Outdoor Pool membership. The following policies, rules and state public health regulations will be strictly enforced. Please read them carefully. The lifeguard(s) on duty have the final say regarding pool policies and rules. Help Keep it Clean Soap showers are required before entering the pool. This is a Massachusetts State Law. Clean bathing suits must be worn. Underwear, cut-off jeans/pants, and/or t-shirts are not allowed in the pool for health and safety reasons unless for religious purposes. People suffering from a fever, cough, cold, inflammation of the eyes, nasal or ear discharges, or any communicable disease are not allowed in the pool until they have healed. Any person with sores or other evidence of skin disease, or who is wearing a bandage or medical coverage of any kind, is not allowed to use the pool. Please don t spit or in any other way contaminate the pool, pool deck, walkways, or changing rooms. No glass containers will be permitted in the pool area. No one shall bring or throw into the pool any object that may in any way carry contamination or endanger the safety of other swimmers. The pool may close for up to 24 hours following a fecal, vomit or blood contamination incident. No food is allowed within 8 feet of the pool. Biological Contamination: When the main pool or the children s pool must be closed in the event of a biological contamination, the pool deck, the lawn, and the uncontaminated pool will remain open to members. We will do our best to notify you, via , for closures. Please help us by encouraging your children to take regular bathroom breaks. 5

9 Outdoor Pool Membership Policies ID Policy: All pool members must present a valid JCC ID card for admittance. These cards must be shown each time you enter the Outdoor Pool. The JCC remains committed to the safety and security of our members and visitors. We will scan licenses to verify who has entered the facility. We do not retain license numbers. August only ID policy: August-only JCC ID cards MUST be shown upon arrival and are valid only during August 1-31, Guest Policy: All guests must be accompanied by an adult Outdoor Pool member. Adult guests must present a picture ID. Guest passes may be purchased at the Outdoor Pool office. Members may bring in up to 5 guests each day. Local guests are welcome to use the pool a maximum of three times per season. We recommend calling to check space availability. Indoor JCC member policy: Members of the indoor facility who have not purchased an Outdoor Pool membership can obtain three complimentary passes per membership unit to the Outdoor Pool. Passes can only be used Monday-Friday, excluding holidays, and from May 29 until August 24. Guests of indoor JCC members are not permitted to use these passes. Please visit the front desk in the lobby for your passes, which are issued on the day that they will be used. Outdoor Pool only members who have not purchased an Indoor membership may access only the outdoor amenities at the Leventhal-Sidman Center. 10 Safe Pools Have Rules Follow all lifeguard directions. They are responsible for the safety of all swimmers. During thunderstorms the entire pool area will close for 30 minutes. This includes changing rooms. The pool will remain closed until 30 minutes have passed since the last visible sign or sound of the storm. Members must use the indoor facility to change during severe weather closings. Making space and keeping it safe. We will implement adult-only swim during crowded conditions at a manager s discretion. Keep it fun. Horseplay or other unsafe behavior is prohibited. Walk. Running is not allowed on the pool deck. Feet first, face forward. Jumping in to water less than three feet deep is not allowed in the main pool. There is no jumping allowed in the Kiddie pool. Diving is allowed in the designated area of the 9 ft section. Dig on in and eat at our tables or our designated areas. Food and gum are not allowed in or within eight feet of either pool. Kosher food is available for purchase through the café and vending machines. In keeping with the JCC s kashrut policy, all food served at or brought into the JCC must be strictly kosher. Picnic lunches and dinners from home are welcome. However, we ask that you honor the JCC s kashrut policy and bring only kosher dairy, pareve, or kosher meat products. No food deliveries to the Outdoor Pool or takeout food is allowed. In consideration of our members with food and nut allergies, please dispose of all food wrappers and containers. Please wash your hands before using the playground or pool toys if you have had a peanut, nut or dairy snack. Keep it covered. No nudity is allowed on the pool deck. Please use the changing rooms for all changing, showering, and diapering. The outdoor showers are for use by those entering the pool. No shampoo or undressing is allowed. Think of others. No smoking or alcoholic beverages are allowed. Tie up your hair. Any swimmer with hair shoulder-length or longer must wear a swim cap or have it tied back while in the pool. Please visit our Outdoor Pool Desk for a hair elastic if needed. This keeps our pool clean and it s safer for you to swim. We appreciate your patience if we hit capacity. On hot summer days (especially on weekends), the pool may be at capacity. This means that there may be a waiting time period to enter into the pool area. Locker rooms: Locker rooms will be closed to members while campers are changing (weekdays from 1:45-2pm, 2:45-3pm and 3:45-4pm). 7

11 Policies Regarding Children Child Safety: In order to swim in the pool without adult supervision children must be 12 years of age or older. Children age 12 and over do not need to take a swim test. Children under age 12 who have passed the swim test may swim but will need adult supervision in the pool area. *Children under 12 years old who have not passed the swim test must be accompanied in the water by an adult within arm s reach of the child. This includes parents being in the water in the zero depth entry and kiddie pool with their child. Children (including infants and toddlers) MUST NOT be left unattended on deck while the parent swims. *Adult supervision is considered 18 years of age or older. Lifeguards are provided for safety should an emergency occur. Lifeguards will not supervise unsupervised children. Swim Diapers and Vinyl Swim Pants for Children: A swim diaper and a waterproof vinyl swim pant are required for all children under 3.5 years of age, regardless of whether they are potty-trained. No exceptions will be made. For your convenience, these items are available for purchase at the Outdoor Pool office. Flotation devices, inflatable objects, lifejackets and life vests of any kind are not allowed. Children s Deep Water Testing: Children under age 12 must take a test in order to swim in the deep sections of the pool. Testing will be held according to staff availability. Children who pass will be given a color-coded bracelet that they must wear on their wrists for the 4 ft and 9 ft test. Parents may not bring a child into the 9 ft swim area to swim with them unless the child has passed the 9 ft test. If a child does not pass the test, he or she can retake the test on a different day. 4-ft. Test: Front float for 10 seconds and back float for 30 seconds, 30 seconds treading water and be able to swim one length of freestyle with arm recovery in a strong manner or be in Level 7 (Gliders) for Lenny Krayzelburg Swim Academy (LKSA) or LKSA catch up stroke in a strong manner. 9-ft. Test: Same as 4 ft. test, but the child must swim two lengths freestyle with arm recovery in a strong manner, and tread water for one minute or be in Level 8 (Flyers) for LKSA. Lap Test: Children may take the lap swim test with the deck duty lifeguard or pool manager. The lap lane test consists of 10 lengths of continuous crawl stroke. If a child passes, he or she will be placed in a lane by a deck duty lifeguard or pool manager. They may not use the lap lanes during adult-only swim. 8
