Registration Information Formal registration will be held at the El Campo Aquatic Center April 25 & 27, May 2-5 during practice from 4:45 6:15pm, and will remain open until the end of the month. Each swimmer must also have current membership with the El Campo Aquatic Center (ECAC phone (979) ). If membership to the ECAC isn t current, swimmers will not be allowed to enter the water. Each registered swimmer will receive a FREE t-shirt; other family members may order T-Shirts during registration. Other merchandise will be displayed and can be purchased or ordered. If you cannot make it to the pool to register, you may mail your completed forms along with your check (made payable to Red Wave Booster Club) to Red Wave, c/o El Campo Red Wave Booster Club -Treasurer, PO Box 562, El Campo Texas 77437, or give to any of the officers listed above. Red Wave Registration Fees: Your Red Wave Board continues to make every effort to make swimming affordable for every family and keep the registration fees as low as possible, all while providing an excellent summer program and quality coaching for your swimmers. A summary of the required fees payable to the Red Wave Booster Club Inc. are as follows: Registration Fee: $105 for 1st swimmer, $200 for 2nd swimmer, $285 for 3rd swimmer, any remaining immediate family members will not pay a registration fee. (This fee is to offset operational expenses, coaching, training tools, pool equipment, etc.) Red Wave High School or adult swimmers will pay a $40 registration fee.

2 Team Meeting RECOMENDED SEASON MEET AND GREET: To kick-off the season right, we will host a meet and greet on, 5:00-5:45PM. You will meet the coaches and other swimmers, review the 2017 Handbook and see a demonstration on how to navigate the Red Wave Website. If you don t have access to a computer, please let one of the board members or coaches know so that we can plan accordingly to keep you in the loop. Practice Schedules **Please note that dates and times of practice are subject to change depending on what/when the City decides to allow Red Wave to use the pool during closed business hours.** After-School Practice Schedule May 2nd June 2nd Tuesday Friday at the El Campo Aquatic Center May 2 nd to June 2 nd Ages 11 and up from 5 5:45 PM 10 and under 5:45-6:30 PM Summer Practice Schedule Monday, June 5 - Friday, July 7th We will have practice between 8 11:00 AM Tuesday through Friday. The group/time schedule for the summer season will be decided at a later date. We will divide the group depending upon the number registered and coach preference. Please check the team s web site for up-to-date information regarding summer practices. July 8 CCAA Swimming Lamar CISD Pool (Official end of CCAA) 10 & Under - Warm-up 7:00 a.m. / start 8:30 a.m. 11 thru 18 - Tentative Warm-up 11:30 a.m. / start 1:00 p.m. July 22 TAAF Texas City Pool July TAAF Summer Games of Texas McAllen, TX NOTE: If continuing on to TAAF Regionals/State, additional coaching of $10.00 per swimmer ($30 max per family) is required for coaching. If swimmer medals at Regionals, they will advance to State (any swimmer qualifying at Regionals on a relay, must remain a member of that relay and swim at State). Swimmer will be responsible for paying TAAF fee per event, typically $6.00 per event.

3 Volunteers Red Wave is hosting three meets (May 20, June 3, and June 17) at the El Campo Aquatic Center. Volunteers will be needed to bring a food item for the concession stand and man the ready bench, scorekeeping, timing, concession stand, age group ready parents, etc. You will find descriptions of these positions in the Handbook so you can see what is required. For the new parents, you will be teamed with a veteran swim parent who can show you the ropes so don t be nervous you will do GREAT! Volunteering is not optional, for a successful meet we all need to help out. Volunteers = Success! El Campo Aquatic Center In order to participate on the Red Wave swim team, each swimmer is required to have a membership to the El Campo Aquatic Center for the months of May, June, and July. We have conveniently located registration at the pool to allow you to take care of your required Aquatic Center membership. El Campo Aquatic Center offers several options for memberships. A representative will be available to assist you in finding a membership that is tailored to your family s needs. New Swimmer Tryouts Each swimmer must be able to swim the length of the pool without assistance in order to participate on the Red Wave Swim Team. Tryouts for new swimmers will be conducted during registration by the swim team s head coach. The Head Coach will have the final decision on whether a swimmer meets these requirements. Team Swim Suit This year s team suit is the TYR. The suits are available for order on our team web site There will be sample suits available at registration that swimmers may try on to determine the proper fit. Team suits are encouraged, but are optional; however, one piece is required for girls and swim goggles are necessary. We recommend a quality pair and typically sell these for a very reasonable price. Each swimmer should have two pairs of goggles per meet. To view or purchase the team suits, goggles, or other swim gear, go to our team web site and sign in or create an account. Please see a board member if you need any assistance. Red Wave Team T-Shirts Each Red Wave swimmer registered will receive a FREE team t-shirt to wear to our swim meets to display our team spirit and pride. Extra t-shirts for family or friends can be purchased for an additional charge. Information on these t-shirts will be provided at a later date. The free Red Wave team t-shirts are provided through the generosity of our sponsors whose name will appear on the back. Please thank them if you have an opportunity!

4 Officials Calling all Moms, Dads, Aunts, Uncles, Grandmas, & Grandpas! At every meet, and especially at the meets hosted by the Red Wave Swim Team, officials are needed. We would love to see 3-4 new officials this year. Getting involved in officiating is very beneficial to learning about the world of competitive swimming. And here s the kicker: officials have the best view at the pool! A certification clinic for new swim officials will be held on Sunday, May, from 3:00 5:00 p.m. at R&R Natatorium in Rosenberg. If you are interested in becoming an official, we would love to have you! If you have any questions about officiating, please contact Keith Beal, our CCAA Team Representative. Also, if you are interested in becoming an official, please indicate on the registration form so that we can get more information to you about the clinic. Fundraising In order to keep registration fees as low as possible and cover the operational expenses of the swim team, we have two fundraisers per year: Lap-a-thon - Summer Poinsettia Sales before Christmas As a member of the Red Wave swim team, each family is expected to participate in all fundraisers. At a minimum, we ask each swimmer to sell at least 15 poinsettias at Christmas. Your Board understands that our community supports many organizations and multiple fundraisers, and we truly appreciate the generosity of the citizens of El Campo and its surrounding communities. Red Wave Board members have made every effort over the years to limit the number of fundraisers, and feel that the two that remain on our calendar are profitable, unique, and desired by the community, and should continue to be pursued as a means of keeping down the costs to our families.

5 Checklist for Registration At registration, please make sure you have completed the following: Membership to the El Campo Aquatic Center for the months of May, June and July for each registered Red Wave swimmer, arranged with and paid directly to the El Campo Aquatic Center. Ask for the Red Wave summer pass for all 3 months. Completed Red Wave Registration form with check made payable to El Campo Red Wave Booster Club Inc. for the total of all fees and optional purchases. Signed the CCAA disclaimer form - (must be signed by parent of any swimmer 12 years of age and younger as of June 1) Swimmers not signing the USSA waiver will not be allowed to swim in CCAA or TAAF events. Signed medical release
