2 THIRD TIME IS THE CHARM?: Following a shutout and a penalty kick shootout, the Fordham women's soccer team are back in the Atlantic 10 Championship game for the third time in team history, and first since In the first two, Fordham was unable to claim the title, falling to host Saint Louis in 2006 (2-1), and host Charlotte in 2007 (3-2). This time, it will be a true neutral site title game, as the Rams take on the seventh-seeded Duquesne Dukes (11-9-1) at Davidson's Alumni Soccer Stadium. For either squad, an Atlantic 10 crown would be the first for the program, as this is Duquesne's first women's soccer title game. The Rams have one of the stingiest defenses in the league entering the Atlantic 10 Championship, ranking second in the league in goals against average and shutouts, while boasting a pair of All-Conference defenders in Nicole Bates and Ally Doyle, and the conference leader in shutouts in goalkeeper Megan Fitzgerald. Fordham also bring a solid offense, ranking in the top half of the league in goals (T6th) and assists (3rd), led by First Team All-Atlantic 10 selection Jessica Widmann and Second Team All-Atlantic 10 pick Kristina Maksuti, who combined for 19 goals this season, 11 of which are game-winning goals. HOW'D WE GET HERE: The Championship for Fordham began with the "Battle of the Rams" against VCU in the #4 vs. #5 match-up. Freshman Brooke Salmon netted her first collegiate goal in the 15th minute, while the Fordham defense allowed just two shots on goal for the 1-0 win in the Atlantic 10 quarterfinals. Fordham was led by Jessica Widmann (East Meadow, N.Y.), who was named First Team All-Atlantic 10, while a trio of Rams, Kristina Maksuti (Delmar, N.Y.), Nicole Bates (Basking Ridge, N.J.), and Ally Doyle (Fairfield, Conn.), were named Second Team All-Atlantic 10. Brooke Salmon (West Hempstead, N.Y.) was selected to the conference s All-Rookie Team, as well as Bates earning All-Academic Team honors in a vote of the conference s sports information directors. Widmann has had an outstanding final campaign with the Rams, leading the team in goals (11), assists (5), and points (27), while tying for the team-lead in game-winning goals with five. The 11 goals and 27 points are tied for the fourth-most by a Ram in a single season. She earned Atlantic 10 co-player of the Week honors once this year, and climbed into top six alltime at Fordham in career goals (T7th 18), assists (T2nd 14), points (7th 50), and games started (T3rd 72). Widmann is Fordham s first First Team All-Atlantic 10 selection since Katie McDermott in After working her way back from multiple injuries and missing the majority of two seasons, Maksuti return to form as one of the top forwards in the conference, netting seven goals and three assists for 17 points. Most of her goal production came when it counted most as five of her seven goals this season were game-winning goals, giving her 12 in her career. She currently stands fourth on the Rams career goals (24) and points (59) list and tied for ninth in assists (11). Bates and Doyle anchored the Rams defense, as it set the school record for shutouts in a season with 10. The Rams allowed less than a goal per game at 0.83, which is on pace to break the 2007 team record of Offensively, both Bates and Doyle added one assist on the year, while academically, Bates holds a 3.83 GPA, majoring in Applied Accounting & Finance and is a two-year member of the Atlantic 10 Commissioner s Honor Roll. Salmon quickly found her way into the Rams starting line-up as a freshman, starting 17 of 19 games this season. While sharing corner kick duties for most of the year, she registered one assist on offense, which came in the Princeton game, while contributing to all 10 shutouts defensively. She becomes Fordham s first All-Rookie Team selection since Maksuti in JESSICA WIDMANN NAMED CoSIDA FIRST TEAM ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT (10/26): The 2015 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-

4 District Women s Soccer Teams have been announced, and recognize the nation s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Among those honored were Fordham women s soccer player Jessica Widmann, who moves onto the national ballot. Widmann is the first women s soccer player to be selected to the Academic All-District team since Katie McDermott in A first semester graduate student, studying Marketing Intelligence, Widmann has been the Rams top scorer all season long, netting a team-high 12 goals to go with five assists for 29 points. She also is tied for the Rams' lead with five gamewinning goals this season. Prior to this year, Widmann earned her undergraduate degree in Communications & Media Studies with a 3.46 GPA and was a two-year member of the Atlantic 10 Commissioner s Honor Roll and received the Leader of Distinction Award from the Fordham Leadership Academy. HEAD COACH JESSICA CLINTON: Guiding the Rams in the Atlantic 10 Championship is head coach Jessica Clinton, who is in her second full season at the helm. Clinton has quickly put her stamp on the Fordham women's soccer program, winning 21 of 39 games over her first two seasons ( ). This season, she has led the Rams to a team record for shutouts with 11, and are on pace to set the goals against average record as well at Clinton arrived at Rose Hill after serving on the staff of her alma mater, Boston University, for six years, first as an assistant coach from and then as the associate head coach in As a player at Boston University, Clinton was one of the Terriers' most accomplished keepers. She sits at the top of the school record books in saves in a season (98) and saves in a career (312), while also ranking seventh in career goals-against average (1.10) and sixth in career save percentage (.802). The 2003 America East Goalkeeper of the Year, Clinton was a member of three AE championship teams (2000, 2001, 2003). She was an America East All-Conference First Team honoree in 2001 and 2003, while collecting NSCAA All- Northeast Region Team honors as a senior. In addition, Clinton trained with the Boston Breakers of the Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA) for one season in O CAPTAIN, MY CAPTAIN: Graduate students Jessica Widmann and Kate McDonnell and fifth-year senior Kristina Maksuti serve as the Fordham women's soccer team captains for the 2015 season. Entering the year, Widmann and McDonnell were the team's top two scorers from a year ago. Widmann started all 18 games, and led the team goals (4), assists (4), and points (12). She was selected as the team's offensive MVP at year's end and was named to the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll. McDonnell was the Rams' second leading scorer in 2014 with three goals and three assists for nine points, setting career-highs in each of those categories. She received Atlantic 10 Player of the Week honors once last season and started all 17 games she appeared in. Maksuti returns to the pitch after almost two years away, fighting injury. A former Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team selection, she was the Rams' leading scorer as both a freshman and a sophomore. REGIONAL RANKED RAMS: Throughout the season, Fordham has been ranked in the top ten of the NSCAA Mid- Atlantic Region on four occassions this season, the last in the October 6th rankings. The Rams have been rated as high as fourth this season. FIRST TIME SCORERS: Though Widmann and Maksuti have lit the lamp a combined 19 times this season, eight other Rams have found the back of the net this season. For five of those eight players, junior Brianna Blunck, sophomore Carlie Wagner, and freshmen Brooke Salmon, Lane Cronin, and Caitlin Leen, it was their first collegiate goal. CLIMBING THE RECORD BOOK: Fifth-year Fordham players Kristina Maksuti and Jessica Widmann have steadily climbed the Rams' all-time leaderboard this season. With a goal against Davidson, Maksuti moved into sole possession of fourth place on Fordham's career goals (24) and points (59) list, while being tied for eighth in career assists with 11. Widmann registered a goal in her last game, moving her into sixth in career goals, while being tied for second on the all-time assists list with 14 and fifth in points (52). Widmann is also closing in on the record for games started by a Ram with 74, just one behind all-time leader Laura Muzzatti ( ). GETTING DEFENSIVE: Aside from Maksuti and Widmann's assault on the offensive record book, the Fordham defensive group of Nicole Bates, Ally Doyle, Brianna Blunck, Rachel Collage, and Rachel Myers along with goalkeeper Megan Fitzgerald have closed on some big marks. In the Davidson game, Fordham recorded its tenth shutout of the season, breaking the 2009 team record for shutouts in a season, and bringing the team's goals against average to 0.83, which has just surpassed of the 2007 school record of 0.84 for a season. Currently, the Rams have 11 shutouts and a 0.79 GAA. Individually, Fitzgerald has broken Shannon Misiaszek's 2001 single season mark for shutouts with nine this season. ATLANTIC 10 LEADERS: Fordham ranks in the top half of the Atlantic 10 in five categories, including goals (T6th), assists (3rd), points (6th), goals against average (2nd), and shutouts (2nd). Individually, three Rams are among the conference leaders. Jessica Widmann is fourth in points, tied for second in goals, tied for 10th in assists, and tied for second in gamewinning goals, while Kristina Maksuti is tied for 11th in goals and tied for second in game-winning goals. Goalkeeper Megan Fitzgerald leads the conference in shutotus, while being third in GAA, fifth in save percentage, and ninth in total saves.
