The Noles currently own an 18-9 record, with a 6-6 record in ACC action. Should the Noles notch two more wins this season, they will become the 20th team in the Cecile Reynaud era to reach 20 wins. Coach: Matt Linebarger Manager: John Lotarski losing to the two teams earlier in the season, FSU struck for revenge with a five-game match win over Virginia and a 3-0 win over Maryland. FSU opened the season with seven straight wins and has since had wins over NC State, Wake Forest and Clemson. The Seminoles have reached their second-longest winning streak of the season, winning their last three games. THE SERIES: The early season loss to the Duke Blue Devils marked the 18th loss for the Lady Seminoles in the all-time series of the two teams. The Noles have collected six wins overall, with the last game ending in a Duke-win in five games. Last season the Tribe dropped both games to the Blue Devils in four and five games. The Garnet and Gold s all-time home record against Duke is 2-8, the two squads are even at 2-2 in neutral locations. The last time FSU defeated the Blue Devils was in 1998, when the Noles completed a 3-0 win to win their third straight match over the Blue Devils. The Florida State Lady Seminoles have already defeated Wake Forest once this season, and will look to better their all-time series record against the Demon Deacons to 9-2. The Garnet and Gold are currently 3-1 at home against Wake Forest, with their last win coming in FSU dropped both the home and away match to Wake Forest in 1999, but did not lose a single game previous to From 1996 through 1998 FSU won seven-straight matches with four of them ending in three games. The Tribe has returned to success against the Demon Deacons with a 3-0 win in 2000 in Winston-Salem, N.C. NATIONAL STANDINGS: The 2000 women s volleyball team has received some national recognition for its 18 wins this season. Heading into this weekend, the Noles are ranked sixth in the NCAA East Region, following a weekend sweep of Virginia and then No. 6 Maryland. The Duke Blue Devils are currently ranked fourth in the region. The Lady Seminoles have already defeated No. 2 Wake Forest once this season (3-0).

The Lady Noles current hitting percentage is tied for the fifth-best percentage alltime for FSU volleyball. The 1998 squad also owns the.261 mark, that team finished the season ANDERSON NAMED ACC ROOKIE-OF-THE-WEEK: For the first time this season, a Lady Seminole has been named ACC Rookie-of-the-Week by the Atlantic Coast Conference office. Freshman setter Jennifer Anderson garnered the conference accolade this week, following strong performances in the Seminoles weekend sweep of Virginia and Maryland in Tully Gymnasium. In the first match of the weekend, she played in three of the five games in the match, collecting 35 assists without any kills. She added a block assist to help the Seminoles to a five-game win over the Cavaliers. In game two of the weekend series, Anderson proved that she was clearly back from her injury, playing setter well for FSU adding 47 assists to help FSU to a three-game win over Maryland. Anderson was almost perfect at the net as well, adding six kills with only one error, notching a.500 percentage. Anderson ended the weekend with a.417 percentage for both games with six kills and 82 assists. KNOCK-EM OUT IN THE EARLY ROUNDS: The 2000 FSU women s volleyball team owns a clear edge over its opponents in total points by game, totalling 1338 to its opponents 1090, helping the squad to its 18-9 record this season. However, the Noles own a much bigger advantage when they put away their opponent early. The Garnet and Gold have out-scored their opponents in opening games and in game two s. When FSU has a team on the ropes is when the advantage is most clear, as the Lady Noles have out-scored their opponents by 115 points, When the Tribe heads into the later rounds (games four and five) their advantage weakens, as they have been out-scored in game four s ( ) and game five s (89-99). THE PLACE IS SO NICE, WE NAMED IT TWICE: When the Florida State women s volleyball team heads into Tully Gymnasium this weekend to face conference foes Wake Forest and Duke, they will walk through the doors of Tully Gym into an entirely different arena. The Florida State University is renaming the playing arena of the Lady Seminoles as Lucy McDaniel Volleyball Arena at Tully Gymnasium. The naming ceremony, to take place Thursday afternoon at 5:30 p.m. in Tully gymnasium, comes on the heels of a one-million dollar donation by Lucy McDaniel to women s athletics. McDaniel had earlier endowed a scholarship to the women s volleyball team for $100,000. Following the donation, McDaniel joined the Lady Seminoles on the trip to Europe this past summer. A WHOLE BUNCH OF KILLS: Sophomore Erica Bunch has come on very strong of late, collecting 111 kills this season with a.245 hitting percentage. The Crawfordville, Fla., native had a.291 hitting percentage performance with a team-best 37 kills over the span of FSU s weekend sweep of Virginia and Maryland. She had a career-high in kills in the Virginia match as she poured in 23 kills and hit.308 to lead the Noles to victory in the five-game match. Bunch toppled her old career record by seven kills. The young outside hitter is on pace to better her 1999 hitting percentage of.119.
