1 Kiran and Zara Evans present A Walk In The Park The Duke's Head Wallington 2:15pm Sunday the 2 nd of July 2017 Organisers' mobile number: THE WALK 2.8 miles, no stiles, steps or kissing gates. Suitable for buggies / pushchairs apart from a narrow gap which buggies can be carried over or folded and taken through. The entire walk is on properly made paths and pavements. THE VENUE Duke's Head Surrey, The Green, 6 Manor Road, Wallington, Surrey, SM6 0AA Free parking available at rear Free Wi-Fi Food served from noon until 6pm. Reservation is recommended but not required. Reserve a table by phone on or on the pub's website at Children welcome. Dogs welcome in bar and garden only (not in the restaurant) OS Grid Reference: TQ DIRECTIONS BY CAR Exit M25 at Junction 8 and follow A217 towards Lower Kingswood, Banstead, Sutton. After Banstead Downs Golf Course, Leave A217 to join B2230 Brighton Road towards Sutton. After Sutton Station, stay in right-hand lane around one-way system and head towards Carshalton on A232 Carshalton Road. Go through Carshalton High Street towards Croydon. Turn right at the

2 end of the shops into Park Lane, then first left into Parkgate Road, left at the end and the pub is on the left before the lights. DIRECTIONS BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT Nearest train stations: Wallington: Exit the station and turn left onto Manor Road. Follow Manor Road for about 800 yards. The Duke's Head will be on the left. Hackbridge: Turn left out of station car park and follow London Road. You may choose to take the 151 bus route towards Wallington which stops opposite the pub. If not, continue to follow the bus route for about a mile. The pub will be on the right. Carshalton: Exit the station onto North Street. You may wish to take the 127 bus route towards Purley or the 157 bus route towards Crystal Palace. Alight at Croydon Road / Wallington Green. If not, turn right onto North Street and turn left after the ponds onto High Street. Follow this road for about half a mile. Turn right at Wallington Green. The pub will by on the right. Nearest bus stops: Manor Road / Acre Lane (route 151 to Worcester Park) Manor Road North / Acre Lane (route 151 to Wallington) Croydon Road / Wallington Green (routes 407, 410, 463, 612, 633 and X26) All bus stops within a few yards of the pub.

Cross Derek Avenue onto the footpath to the left of the last house on Derek Avenue. After the small stone bridge, keep right and enter the car park. Cross the car park and stay right. Stage ends at the end of the car park. Put a fiver on, somewhere near here. Sounds like a jewel robbery! A carol for a soldier, shielded waste-down. If you live on this road, you are beside a large pond. How wide can your car be to fit through the gap? STAGE TWO Stay on the path to the right of the river. At the footbridge, turn right immediately and continue towards the next car park. Just before the car park, turn left onto a shared pedestrian/cycle path. Follow the path and stay right at the junction. Stage ends at Church Road. Arrow of timber. Two, in fact! A light game of Countdown. Here's a clue for you: on the windows and doors it's blue. What is it? What number should you call if you want to dig here?

5 STAGE THREE Turn left so the church is on your right. Stay on the left-hand pavement and continue along Church Road. At the end of the brick wall, cross to the right-hand pavement and go through the wall. Stage ends when the pavement runs out. Improper counting for old time's sake. Hark! Azrael: faces less than it was. We hear the crossing lasts seven days, so quit your hurried ways. 7. Where might you pray and visit on Sunday? 8. When is the Pavilion Café open? STAGE FOUR TAKE EXTRA CARE AS THERE IS NO PAVEMENT ALONG THIS STAGE. Turn right, following Church Road. Stay left at the fork. Follow Church Road to the bridge with height restriction. Cross the bridge and turn left. Follow the road to the next junction, where the stage ends. No red herrings here! Basil's humble abode looks like it's had a brush-up! Looks like Mister Right left the building. Pretending a dumb folk is mixed up would be dangerous. 9. This equals 1/ How fast can you go here? STAGE FIVE Turn right at the junction and follow the road. Keep left as the road turns to the right towards the café. Follow the footpath between the fields. Stage ends just before you enter the trees. Smoke here more than twice and you'll pay the price! Self defence. Rest, safe and sound, but you'll be constrained and tethered to the ground. 11. 6 STAGE SIX Enter the trees, cross the stream and turn immediately left. Follow the footpath towards the bridge. Cross straight over the bridge. Follow the footpath. Ignore the first fork to the right. Take the second fork to the right (just before the footpath you came down earlier). At the end of the footpath, turn right and cross over the footbridge that goes over the river. Turn left immediately after the footbridge and walk along the river. Cross the small footbridges. If this is not possible, there are signs marking an alternative route (you will not miss any clues by taking this route). Stage ends at the car park. You can't store your cash here, but hay, it is on the rise. Double trouble. Amped and pumped. 13. At the end of the alphabet, you'll find the light. 14. Where does the water tumble down? STAGE SEVEN Enter the car park and turn right. Turn left out of the car park and stay on the left pavement. Cross the road at the island and continue along London Road. Stay on the right pavement and turn right to walk past the pond. Cross Butter Hill and stay on London Road. Follow the road around the bend, past the Rose & Crown pub and back towards the Duke's Head. Stage ends at the crossroads. Spare no change for the insect waiter. Milk, dark or white, it'll protect your head, alright. Up there with the royal highness, you can feel the breeze. 15. Which road might have some flowers in the pond? 16. They used to be caterpillars, but now they've transformed.
