3 Legs 1-6 Overview The first 6 legs give you a tour of MDI that you will never forget. The running here is not the easiest, but hopefully the scenery will keep your mind off the rollers. Yes, you can get theah from heah!

4 Leg Miles.0 Start at field across the street from the Mt. Desert Island YMCA. In Bar Harbor..1 Runners will run across the field, cross RT 3 per the flaggers instructions & take a right on RT 3 (heading south). Runners will need to run on left side of RT 3.8 Runners STAY on RT 3 at Park Loop Rd. entrance. Follow arrows. Run in breakdown lane on LEFT side of road. 1.2 Runners again STAY on RT3 at Park Loop Rd intersection. Follow arrows. Run in breakdown lane on LEFT side of road. 4.5 T/A across from Otter Creek Hall. 82 Otter Creek Dr. Otter Creek, ME Rating = 4 Please do not park on the runner s route (left side of RT 3.) Parking is on right shoulder PLEASE look for runners when pulling in and out of the parking lot. Parking lot is small. Most vans will have to park along the right side of road BEFORE the hall. Elevation Gain = 273ft. START: Address: MT Desert Island YMCA 21 Park St. Bar Harbor, ME TA 1: Address: Otter Creek Hall 82 Otter Creek Dr. (RT 3) Otter Creek, ME

5 Leg Miles.0 Start at Otter Creek Hall. 82 Otter Creek Dr. Otter Creek, ME (RT 3).1 Runners will cross to right side of road for ½ mile. Cross RT 3 per the flaggers instructions..5 Runners cross back to LEFT side of cross walk. Look for signs. Curvy road, WATCH FOR CARS!.7 Runners again STAY straight on RT3 at park entrance. Follow arrows. Run in breakdown lane on LEFT side of road. 1.4 LEFT onto COOKSEY Rd. 2.6 Rd. Bear Left onto Rowland 3.1 LEFT onto Steamboat Wharf Rd AKA New County Rd. 3.6 (RT 3) 3.7 LEFT onto Peabody Dr. TA 2 Cooksey Drive is VERY narrow. Vans, please take extra caution on this road. Do not stop on private property. This is a very beautiful part of the course where you get ocean views and even pass by Martha Stewart's cottage, however tempting it is to stop, please move on to the TA. Rating = 3 Elevation Gain = 246 ft START: 82 Otter Creek Dr. (RT 3) Otter Creek, ME. TA 2: (closest searchable address is) 2 Steamboat Wharf Rd. Seal Harbor, ME. The TA is actually on Peabody Dr. (still RT 3) near intersection. Actual TA is.07 miles from the noted address here. You can see the parking area from the searchable address noted here.

6 Leg Miles 0.0 Runners run west and stay on Peabody Dr (RT 3) out of Seal Harbor. Stay on sidewalk where possible. 2.9 LEFT onto Harborside Rd. (RT 198). 3.5 LEFT onto Harbor Dr. 3.7 Follow straight arrows through 4 way intersection and stay on left side sidewalks. 3.8 TA3. Parking lot at Northeast Harbor Marina. Please avoid stopping along this route. The road is narrow and windy. Parked vans will create safety issues. When pulling into the Marina, please take extra caution. Runners should be staying on the sidewalks, but without leashes, some could wander. Rating = 3 Elevation Gain = 231 ft START: Seal Harbor Parking Lot TA3: Northeast Harbor Marina 41 Harbor Drive, Northeast Harbor, ME

7 Leg Miles 0.0 Runners cross to the right side of road after getting baton in parking area.. 1 Runners stay straight on Huntington Rd.. 3 Runners take right onto S Shore Rd. *Runners stay on left side of the road the whole time 1. Bear RIGHT onto Manchester Rd. 2.1 Bear LEFT onto Sargeant Rd. 5.3 LEFT onto Rt LEFT onto Butler Rd. 6.6 LEFT onto Rt RIGHT onto Rt Cross when flagger indicates it is safe and RUN ON LEFT SIDE OF ROAD. 7.3 LEFT onto MDI HS Rd. 7.4 Arrive at TA 4 VAN Notes: Vans can follow runners and stop at a number of safe spots on this loop. It is a beautiful section that is featured in many photos about Acadia. Whoever gets this long section will be rewarded with staggering views. Vans can cut across Sargeant Rd up by the Union Church of NE Harbor to get ahead of the runner quickly. Rating = 3 Vans please be careful of runners running both ways as you enter MDS High School. Elevation Gain = 375 ft START: Northeast Harbor Marina: 41 Harbor Drive, Northeast Harbor, Maine. TA4: MDI High School: 1081 Eagle Lake Rd., Bar Harbor, Maine.

8 Leg Miles 0.0 MDS High School..1 Take RIGHT onto Rt Run on RIGHT of this road...and high 5 the runners coming the other way..7 Cross Rt. 3 when flagger says it is safe and go RIGHT on Rt 3. Run on LEFT side of road. 2.1 Cross Main St. and take a RIGHT onto Main St. Run on LEFT side of road. 4.1 TA 5. Take a LEFT into Camden National Bank. Watch for 2 way runner traffic on the access road to the high school and on Rt 233. Runners will be crossing the road at the intersections of Rt 233/Rt 3 as well as Rt 3/ Rt 102 (Main St.) They should not be crossing your path, but please take extra caution here. Please be aware of bank customers and use care not to block their access to the bank entrances, drive thru or ATM. There is limited parking at TA 5. You may use the playground parking lot next door. Rating = 2 Elevation Gain = 202 ft START: MDI High School: 1081 Eagle Lake Rd., Bar Harbor, Maine. TA5: Camden National Bank: 1316 Rt 102 (Main St), Bar Harbor, Maine.

9 Leg Miles 0.0 Take a LEFT out of bank parking lot, running on LEFT side of road..1 Knox Rd. Bear LEFT & stay on Main St. Do NOT go onto 1.7 Stay on Main St (Rt 102). Do NOT turn onto County Rd. 2 Runners stay STRAIGHT where it splits and all north bound vehicle traffic must turn right. 2.3 Stay in breakdown lane on left while crossing bridge. The shoulder gets a bit small here on the bridges, please take extra caution to make sure vehicles see you. 3.5 Runners stay STRAIGHT at Rt 230 intersection. Runners MUST obey traffic signals here. 4.7 Take a LEFT onto School St. Run on LEFT side of road. To school. 4.8 TA 6 As you approach the intersections of Rt 102 & Rt 3, the runners will continue to go straight against oncoming traffic. You will need to follow the vehicle traffic flow. Go to the stop lights and take a LEFT. You will meet up with your runner almost immediately. Do NOT stop on the bridges (basically between miles 2-2.7). Your team will be DQ'd if any van if found stopped between these miles. There will be 2 way runner traffic on School Rd. Runners will be on both sides of the road. Please take extra caution here. Rating = 2 Elevation Gain = 154 ft START: Camden National Bank: 1316 ME-102, Bar Harbor, ME TA6: Trenton Elementary School: 51 School Street, Trenton, ME This TA is also the first VTA! Van 1 can now relax and fuel up your bodies and possibly your van as well! A half mile away from the school is Trenton Marketplace. Just take a right out of School Street onto Bar Harbor Road. You can fuel up your van here and they have a small grocery store inside. YOUR NEXT TA IS BUCKSPORT HS. 102 Broadway, Bucksport, ME. There is a Hannaford, Dunkin Donuts and gas stations here. Feel free to set up a tent at the HS and grab some ZZZ's!

10 Legs 7-12 Overview Legs 7-12 start to give your legs a little work out. Run a few of these legs and you'll start to understand why some of the of runners in the nation hail from Maine! Starting address of this section is: Trenton Elementary School: 51 School Street, Trenton, ME Ending address of this section is: Bucksport High School: 102 Broadway, Bucksport, ME (VTA 2) Once you pick up your last runner here in Bucksport, you can back track just slightly on Route 1 where you can find Subway, Hannaford Supermarket, and Dunkin Donuts. If Subway is what you want, make sure to get there before 10pm, which is when they close. Also, if you were looking to pick some things up at Hannaford or grab a coffee from Dunkin, they both closed at 9pm. There is also a Circle-K gas station on the left just before you cross the bridge into Verona Island.

11 Leg Miles Runners Notes: 0.0 Start at Trenton Elementary school..2 LEFT onto Rt 3. Run on the LEFT side of the road. 2.6 Stay STRAIGHT on Rt LEFT into Tractor Supply parking lot. Runner will need to cross the entrance first, then go LEFT so that you are running on the sidewalk. Follow cones. 5. TA 7 Rating = 3 When leaving the school, runners may be crossing your path. Please take extra caution. When turning into & out of Tractor Supply, runners WILL be crossing your path to get the sidewalk. Please let them cross and take extra caution here. Elevation Gain = 237 START: Trenton Elementary School : 51 School Street, Trenton, ME TA 7: Tractor Supply Co: 461 High Street, Ellsworth, ME For a bite to eat check out Ellsworth Giant Sub. If you take a left out of Tractor Supply Co. onto High Street it is a half mile down on your left.

12 Leg Miles Runners Notes:. 0.0 lot. Start at Tractor Supply parking 2. LEFT onto Beachland Rd. 1.2 Runners CROSS Rt 230, then go RIGHT onto Rt 230 (Main St.). Please obey any flaggers & police. 2.5 Cross over to RIGHT side of road at crosswalk Washington St. Stay running north on Rt Go STRAIGHT through the intersection. Runners must obey traffic lights. 3.1 Cross to the LEFT side of the road at the City Hall Place. 3.5 LEFT onto Shore Rd. Runners must cross Shore Rd. first, then go LEFT. 3.8 Arrive at TA 8 Van Notes Please take caution exiting TA 7. Runners will be crossing the road. Please watch for runners crossing the road on Rt the Washington St. Maine State law requires all vehicles to stop for pedestrians in crosswalks. Please watch for runners crossing Main St (Rt. 230) at City Hall Place. See state law note above. Please watch for runners crossing Shore Rd. and when pulling into the school parking lot. Vans will park in the school parking lot on the right (east of the school). Rating = 1 Elevation Gain = 148 ft START: Tractor Supply Co: 461 High Street, Ellsworth, ME TA 8: Ellsworth Elementary/Middle School: 20 Forest Avenue, Ellsworth, ME

13 Leg Miles 0.0 Start at Ellsworth Elementary School.2 Cross Shore Rd. and take a RIGHT onto Rt Cross Main St. and take a RIGHT onto Rt 172. Run on LEFT side of road here. 1.1 Stay STRAIGHT on Rt Cross Rt 172 crosswalk at N. Bend Rd. GO STRAIGHT on N. Bend Road. Essentially, you are taking a RIGHT onto N. Bend Rd, but make sure you cross so that you are running on the RIGHT side of N.Bend Road. 7.3 TA 9 Watch for runners crossing parking lot TA 8. They will be super excited to start/finish, so let them go! Watch for runners crossing Shore Rd. Watch for runners crossing Main Rt There are stop lights here that will help with traffic. When pulling into TA 9, you will pull into the 1st entrance of the school There will be runners entering here. Please take extra caution. Remember, they are tired after running 7+ miles. When leaving, take the same extra precautions. You will be crossing runners paths. These runners leaving are wicked excited for their 7+ leg so let them go! Rating = 3 Elevation = Gain = 317 START: Ellsworth Elementary/Middle School: 20 Forest Avenue, Ellsworth, ME TA 9: Surry Elementary School: 754 North Bend Road, Surry, ME

14 Leg Miles Runner Notes 0.05 Runners cross to left side of road. And go RIGHT onto N. Bend Road. 3.6 LEFT onto Rt 1/3. You will see a sign saying you are entering Ellsworth. You are going the right way! You are not going backwards. Ellsworth covers a large area and are simply crossing back into it. 7. TA 10. Pondview apartments. Van Notes Rating = 3 Elevation Gain = 475 ft. START: Surry Elementary School: 754 North Bend Road, Surry, ME TA 10: Pondview Apartments: 1374 Bucksport Rd. Ellsworth, ME Runners will be crossing your path when at TA 10. Please take extra caution.

15 Leg Miles 0 Take a LEFT out of TA 10 and run on LEFT side of road Stay on Rt 1/3 until Dunbars Rd. 7.1 LEFT onto Dunbars Rd FREE Exchange Zone Arrive at TA 11 TA 11 is the first free exchange area. There will be no volunteers in the free exchange zones. This zone is from the start of Dunbars Road to the first cutoff back to Route 1. The address is Dunbars Road, Orland, ME This exchange area is only 0.25 miles long. Team vans should park along Dunbars Road, which runs parallel to Route 1. Please be mindful of the residents and do not block their driveways. As a free exchange area, you will exchange anywhere along this 0.25 mile stretch. After the exchange, there is a market and gas station 1/2 mile south on Route 1. When giving support to your runner on the course, please park on the right side of the road but BE CAREFUL crossing the road. Rating = 5 Elevation Gain = 404 ft. START: Pondview Apartments: 1374 Bucksport Rd. Ellsworth, ME TA 11: Dunbars Road, Orland, ME

16 Leg Miles Page 1.25 Free Exchange Zone.3 RIGHT at first cut through back onto Rt 1/3..3 LEFT onto Rt. 1/ LEFT onto Gray Meadow Rd. Runners cross to RIGHT side of road BEFORE Schoolhouse Rd. at V intersection STAY on Gray Meadow Rd. AFTER School House Rd. runners cross back to left side of road. 2.5 Cross Rt 175 (Castine Rd.) and turn RIGHT onto Rt 175. Run on Left side of road. You should be on the left side of the road when crossing the bridge. 3.1 LEFT onto Rt. 1/3/ Cross to right side of road at crosswalk. 5.1 Turn RIGHT on Bridge St. Cross Bridge St. FIRST, then run on the left side of Bridge St. 5.3 Turn RIGHT onto Broadway. 5.4 Cross to left side road. 5.6 Arrive at VTA 12 Van Notes on Page 2

17 Leg Miles Page 2 TA 11 is the first free exchange area. There will be no volunteers in the free exchange zones. This zone is from the start of Dunbars Road to the first cutoff back to Route 1. The address is Dunbars Road, Orland, ME This exchange area is only 0.25 miles long. Team vans should park along Dunbars Road, which runs parallel to Route 1. The town is requiring all runners to cross runners at 2 different spots on Gray Meadow Rd. PLEASE take extra caution here and watch for runners in the road. Vans will take a RIGHT onto Nicholson Ave, then a LEFT onto Broadway to get to VTA 12. This is a VTA. It is at Bucksport High School. Now van 2 gets to relax and refuel! Once you pick up your last runner you can back track just slightly on Route 1 where you can find Subway, Hannaford Supermarket, and Dunkin Donuts. If Subway is what you want, make sure to get there before 10pm, which is when they close. Also, if you were looking to pick some things up at Hannaford or grab a coffee from Dunkin, they both closed at 9pm. 18 Legs Overview Welcome to mid coast Maine. If you are in van 1, this is your 2 nd round. This section can be as beautiful as it is challenging. Many of you will be running this in the dark so please wear your reflectors and headlamps! We will have signs on the road, but be a defensive runner and run like the cars cannot see you.

19 Leg 13-8 Miles Runners Notes:.01 Cross to left side of road at Forest Hill Rd..2 LEFT onto Bridge St. after crossing Bridge St..6m LEFT onto Maine St. (Rt 15)...see notes and image close up of intersection. 7.8 LEFT onto W. Main St. 8. TA 13 Stockton Springs municipal building. Rating = 5 Vans must use Nicholson Ave. when arriving and departing Bucksport HS. Bucksport HS is a VTA so there will be a lot of vehicles. Please play nice. Take extra caution when approaching the bridge. Runners will be crossing at the intersection. There is limited parking at TA 13. you may have to park elsewhere. 20 Leg 14 4 Miles 0.0 LEFT out of TA LEFT onto Rt. 1/3. 4 TA 14. Stockton Springs municipal building will be tight getting in and out of. Please have patience and plan accordingly. Rating = 1 Elevation Gain = 102 ft START: Stockton Springs Town Office, located at 217 Main Street, Stockton Springs, ME TA 14: Searsport Full Gospel Church:71 East Main Street, Searsport, ME

21 Leg Miles.0 LEFT onto Rt 1/3 5.2 Merge onto sidewalk leading to Foot Bridge Rd. 5.4 Cross foot bridge. 5.6 LEFT staying on walking path. 6.2 Arrive at TA 15 in front of French/Webb Co. building. Vans do NOT go left onto Foot Bridge Rd. Vans stay on Rt 1/3 and take High St. exit. Once on High St., take a LEFT onto Main St. Parking will be at the end of the road near the pier. Take EXTRA CAUTION as you approach the TA. You will be crossing runner's paths. Rating = 3 Elevation Gain = 219 ft START: Searsport Full Gospel Church:71 East Main Street, Searsport, ME TA 15: Heritage Park: 21 Front St. : Belfast, ME

Edna Drinkwater School. Rating = 3 Elevation Gain = 191 START: Heritage Park: 21 Front St., Belfast, ME TA 16: Edna Drinkwater School: 100 Bayside Road, Northport, ME You may follow runners on Front St., but it is a narrow road, so please take caution. Please take extra caution on Bayside the intersection of Cross St. Runners will be crossing there.

23 Leg Miles.0 Runners take RIGHT onto Bayside Rd. from TA..1 LEFT onto Cross Rd. Run on left side..7 LEFT onto Rt Use caution at intersection. Go STRAIGHT here. 8.9 Arrive (FINALLY!) at TA 17. Rating = 5 Watch for runners when turning onto Cross St. They will be crossing the road there to run on the left side. Elevation Gain = 501 ft START: Edna Drinkwater School: 100 Bayside Road, Northport, ME TA 17: Lincolnville Beach: 2521 Atlantic Highway, Lincolnville, ME

24 Leg Miles.0 Take LEFT onto Rt Cross Rt 1 at green crosswalk and run on left side of road. 5.8 Stay STRAIGHT on Main St. Do NOT go up Mechanic St. 5.9 Cross over to right side of road before school...before Wood St. 5.9 LEFT onto School St. 6 RIGHT onto Union St. Do NOT go down Belmont St. Run on left side of road. 6.5 Continue STRAIGHT on Union St. at the intersection of Limerock St. 6.8 VTA 18. LEFT in YMCA Rating = 4 Watch for runners on mile 5.2 when they cross the road from left to right side. Watch for runners on Elm St. between Wood and School St. They will be crossing the road to the left side there. Elevation Gain = 433 START: Lincolnville Beach:2521 Atlantic Highway, Lincolnville, ME VTA 18: Penobscot Bay YMCA:116 Union Street, Rockport, ME The YMCA is allowing runners to shower and sleep in their facility, so make sure to utilize that. If your van wants to eat out as a group I would suggest getting takeout from some of the restaurants around TA 15, 16, or 17. Once you arrive at TA 18 it will be between 9pm and 3am, so not only are there not much for food places in the area, but if there were they would probably be closed. Once you get back onto Route 1 you will find a couple gas stations. Please try to plan ahead for food. A good time to get food & gas is during the 8.9 leg.

25 Legs Overview Now we are getting into the thick of it! Believe it or not, these are some beautiful sections, even in the dark. Most of you will be hitting these sections in the dark. While the vehicle traffic should be lighter, it is pertinent that you obey all race rules about wearable lights and reflectors. Any runners not obeying these rules will be DQ'd. We do not want to do that, but we do not want anyone in the hospital either. We have a great finish line party and want you to be there! It can get tough during these hours, but this is where the fun really kicks in. Enjoy!

26 Leg Miles.0 LEFT onto Union St. No flagger so watch for vehicles..5 RIGHT onto Summer St. Run on left side of Summer St. Cross at intersection..7 RIGHT onto Main St. Run on left side of Main St. Cross at intersection..9 LEFT onto Camden St. 1 LEFT onto Rt Arrive at TA 19. Turn into Machias Saving Bank entrance. Rating = 3 Watch for runners crossing the road at Summer St & Main St. Turn into Shaw's Parking lot BEFORE TA 19 (Machias Savings Bank.) You can park at the bank, but you have to enter at the Shaw's stop light. Elevation Gain = 219 ft START: Penobscot Bay YMCA: 116 Union Street, Rockport, ME (VTA 18) TA 19: Machias Savings Bank, 3 Glen Street, Rockport, ME

27 Leg Miles.0 Take LEFT onto Rt 1.6 Cross to right side of road at Maverick (in front of Burger King). 1 Main St. Cross over to left N. 1.1 Cross back over to right side of road at cross walk. 1.6 RIGHT onto Park St. Run on right side of road 2.1 Cross over to left side of Broadway. 5.7 RIGHT onto Beechwood. 5.8 LEFT onto Starr St. 5.8 at TA 20 RIGHT onto Watts Ave. Arrive Runners will be crossing at several points noted above. Pleas take extra caution at these places. Especially turning into Beechwood St. at TA. Rating = 2 Elevation Gain = 204 ft. START: Machias Savings Bank, 3 Glen Street, Rockport, ME TA 20: American Legion Post 37: Watts Avenue, Thomaston, ME

28 Leg Miles.1.2 side of road. LEFT on Booker St. RIGHT onto Rt 1. run on Right.5 Cross over to right side of road at crosswalk. 5.3 RIGHT onto Rt 90. Must run on left side of traffic island and road. 6.8 side of road LEFT onto rt 131. Run on right TA 21. Rating = 4 Watch for runners when leaving TA 20. Watch for runners crossing on Rt 1 miles. Runners will be crossing Rt 131 near TA 21 as well. They are not targets. Elevation Gain = 362 ft. START: American Legion Post 37: Watts Avenue, Thomaston, ME TA 21: Warren Community School: 117 Eastern Road, Warren, ME

Run on right side of road. 4.6 RIGHT to stay on Old Rt. 1. Still running on right side of road. 7.3 LEFT to stay on Main St. Still running on right side of road. 8.2 RIGHT onto Kalers St. 8.4 Arrive at TA 22. Watch for runners crossing at Rt 131, Rt 1 and on Old Rt. 1 Parking at TA 22 is on left side of the road. Do not park on the right side at the TA. Rating = 5 Elevation Gain = 705 ft. START: Warren Community School:117 Eastern Road, Warren, ME TA 22: Miller Elementary School: 145 Kalers Circle Street, Waldoboro, ME

30 Leg Miles.0 Immediately cross to left side of road when exiting TA..2 Left onto Rt.1 5 Left into TA 23. Watch for runners crossing road at TA. Watch for runners at TA 23. You will park to the left, then runners will go to the right. This is a small filed and you can park anywhere that is safe. If you park on the grass, please make sure it is not soft. We do not want to leave any marks and you do no want o get stuck! Rating = 4 Elevation Gain = 458 ft START: Miller Elementary School: 145 Kalers Circle Street, Waldoboro, ME TA 23: Nobleboro Little League Baseball Field:14 Lazy Acres Lane, Nobleboro, ME

31 Leg Miles.0 LEFT onto Rt. 1 3 LEFT onto business Rt1 (Main St.) You will actually cut across the parking lot & front lawn of the businesses there. See close up map on this page Arrive at VTA 24. Rating = 1 Nothing major here...just stay awake and safe!! Elevation Gain = 153 ft. Run on Left side of road. 8.9 LEFT on Water St. Cross to left side of Rt. 1 BEFORE Water St, then cross Water St. BEFORE taking the left.
