4 Theatre Projects $ 430,000 Various renovations for the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts; Carpet ($75,000); HVAC ($25,000); Marquee ($100,000); Lighting/Sound ($100,000); Paint ($75,000); Furniture ($20,000); Seats ($25,000); Lobby Lighting ($10,000) City Hall HVAC System $ 398,800 Upgrade of the HVAC system for the City Hall Building. Work includes replacement of the existing air conditioning units on the roof of the building and replacement of the air conditioning controls. The existing system has become antiquated, is inefficient, and now required excessive maintenance. The new system will be energy efficient, will require only normal maintenance and will provide improved air control of increase comfort to City Hall occupants. Phoebe Building Painting $ 100,000 The project includes new paint inside and outside for the City owned Phoebe Avenue Buildings The building pain has become weathered and faded and presents an unsightly run down appearance. The new paint will demonstrate the standard quality of maintenance expected for City of La Mirada facilities.
5 Activity Center and Resource Center Carpet $ 30,000 Project includes replacement of carpet for the Activity Center and Resource Center The carpet has become worn and has deteriorated to the point of tears in high traffic areas. The replacement of carpet would provide a welcoming look for some of our busiest City facilities. Measure I-Residential Street Improvement $ 4,000,000 The project includes road rehabilitation for all residential streets within the boundaries of La Mirada Blvd, Hutchins, Telegraph, and Leffingwell. Work includes the resurfacing of asphalt street pavement, reconstruction of selected areas of street pavement, removal and replacement of damaged curb and gutter, removal and replacement of damaged sidewalk, removal and replacement of slotted cross gutters, and installation of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Handicap Curb Access Ramps. La Mirada is experiencing the effects of an aging infrastructure. In 2012 voters passed Measure I to provide funds to begin updating and replacing the current infrastructure based on an infrastructure needs assessment. This will be the first project utilizing the funds. General Street Resurfacing $ 150,000 Street Resurfacing of collector and residential streets in conjunction with other related infrastructure projects. The rehabilitation and repair of damaged and worn out pavement sections. The resurfacing program usually results in stress relief and the resurfacing of existing streets with one and one-half to two inches of asphalt.
6 Sidewalk Infrastructure Replacement $ 31,000 Repair and replacement of sidewalks at various locations through the City. Replacement of deteriorated and potentially hazardous sidewalks throughout the City based on the rating/priority of the Infrastructure Needs Assessment and subsequent assessment by the Public Works Department. Trojan/Alondra/Stage/Firestone (Project 300 Advanced Mitigation) $ 3,300,000 Cash Contract : Street Rehabilitation of Alondra Blvd, Stage Road, Trojan Way, Firestone Boulevard, and Traffic Signal Improvements at the Intersections of Trojan Way and Alondra Boulevard, and Alondra Boulevard and Stage Road. Project is needed to accommodate the heavy volumes of traffic detoured and diverted onto City streets over the duration of construction. Foster Park Phase III $ 3,235,000 Phase III includes improvements to Norbec Drive, and portions of Bora Drive, Mansa Drive and Lynmark Street. Work includes construction of new catch basins and storm drain on Norbeck Drive from Bora Drive to Milan Creek. Damaged curb, gutter, sidewalk and driveway aprons that require adjustments due to flow line grading will be reconstructed. This portion of the work will be funded with Federal CDBG funds. The remainder of the previously planned Phase III work will be completed once the redevelopment bonds are "unfrozen". The Foster Park Neighborhood was included in the adoption and planning of Project Area No. 4. The Redevelopment Plan identifies the need for various improvements and authorizes the Agency to install and construct, public improvements and utilities necessary to improve the neighborhood. Neighborhood infrastructure was originally designed and built to County standards prior to annexation.
7 Santa Gertrudes Sidewalk Phase I and Phase II $ 1,160,400 The project location is sidewalk on Santa Gertrudes Avenue from Lemon Drive to Rosecrans Avenue. Work includes removal of all existing sidewalk, removal and replacement of damaged curb and gutter, installation of new ADA accessible Handicap Curb Ramps, removal of Ficus street trees, installation of new meandering sidewalk. In addition new landscape installation will include shrub plantings, street trees, and automatic irrigation. Phase II is still in the development phase. The project is needed as a result of sidewalk and curb and gutter damage caused by overgrown street trees. The sidewalk has lifted and present tripping hazards. The lifted curb is causing drainage problems causing health and safety hazards. The project will be funded by Proposition C funds. Street Rehabilitation Project- Phase I $ 1,477,103 Cash Contract : Street project includes Badlona Drive from Figueras Road to the end of the cul-de-sac, Bora Drive from Gandesa Road to Figueras Road, Gandesa Road from Bora Drive to the end of the cul-de-sac, Roma Drive from Biola Avenue to Figueras Road, Roma Drive from Figueras Drive to the end of the cul-de-sac, and Biola Avenue fro Rosecrans Avenue to Imperial Highway. Work includes the resurfacing of asphalt street pavement, reconstruction of selected areas of street pavement, removal and replacement of damaged curb and gutter, removal and replacement of damaged sidewalk, removal and replacement of slotted cross gutters, installation of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Handicap Curb Access Ramps, and lining of deteriorated storm drain corrugated metal pipe. Street Rehabilitation Project- Phase II $ 702,235 Cash Contract : Street rehabilitations have been identified in the Pavement Network Inventory and Condition Assessment completed by APA Engineering, Inc. in The proposed work includes Weeks Drive from Monticello Drive to Stamy Road, Brass Lantern Drive from the east cul-de-sac to the west cul-de-sac, Cobblestone Road from Grayling Avenue to the end of the cul-de-sac, Cobblestone Road from Larrylyn Drive to the end of the cul-de-sac, Dalmation Avenue from Fonseca Avenue to Fonseca Avenue, Dalmatian Avenue from Fonseca Avenue to Foster Road, Fonseca Avenue from Dalmatian Avenue to Dalmatian Avenue, Grayville Drive from Grayling Avenue to the end of the cul-de-sac, Hillgate Drive from Kibbee Avenue to the end of the cul-de-sac, Lemon Drive from La Serna Drive to Stamy Road, Lone Ridge Place from Kibbee Avenue to the end of the cul-de-sac, Nashville Avenue from Steprock Drive to the end of the cul-de-sac. Work includes the resurfacing of asphalt street pavement, reconstruction of selected areas of street pavement, removal and replacement of damaged curb and gutter, removal and replacement of damaged sidewalk, removal and replacement of slotted cross gutters, installation of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Handicap Curb Access Ramps, and lining of deteriorated storm drain corrugated metal pipe.
8 Street Rehabilitation Project- Phase III $ 1,465,433 Cash Contract : Street rehabilitations have been identified in the Pavement Network Inventory and Condition Assessment completed by APA Engineering, Inc. in The proposed work includes Bluefield Avenue from Barnwall Street to the end of the cul-de-sac, Ashgrove Drive from Escalona Road to the end of the cul-de-sac, Cheshire Street from Bluefield Avenue to Ocaso Avenue, Crestoak Drive from Crosswood Road to the end of the cul-de-sac, Elmbrook Drive from Alondra Boulevard to Ocaso Avenue, Excelsior Drive from Crosswood Road to the end of the cul-de-sac, Excelsior Drive from La Mirada Boulevard to Escalona Road, Faceta Drive from Pescado Drive to Ashgrove Drive, Figueras Road from San Bruno Drive to the end of the cul-desac, Florita Road from San Feliciano Drive to the end of the cul-de-sac, Harshaw Place from Fairhope Drive to the end of the cul-de-sac, Hayford Street from Ocaso Avenue La Barca Drive, Jalisco Road from San Feliciano Drive to the end of the cul-de-sac, Lamella Court from Fairhope Drive to the end of the cul-de-sac, Neargrove Road from San Feliciano Drive to the end of the cul-de-sac, Neartree Road from Escalona Road to La Barca Drive, San Bruno Drive from Jalisco Road to Figueras Road, and Stanleaf Drive from La Capelle Drive to the end of the cul-de-sac. Work includes the resurfacing of asphalt street pavement, reconstruction of selected areas of street pavement, removal and replacement of damaged curb and gutter, removal and replacement of damaged sidewalk, removal and replacement of slotted cross gutters, installation of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Handicap Curb Access Ramps, and lining of deteriorated storm drain corrugated metal pipe. Street Rehabilitation- Industrial Center $ 3,300,000 Project includes most streets in the industrial area. Work includes the resurfacing of asphalt street pavement, reconstruction of selected areas of street pavement, removal and replacement of damaged curb and gutter, removal and replacement of damaged sidewalk, removal and, installation of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Handicap Curb Access Ramp as needed. The streets in the industrial area receive heavy truck and commercial vehicle traffic. The work is needed as a result of aging streets in the area. These streets have been identified in the Pavement Network Inventory and Condition Assessment as in need of rehabilitation or reconstruction. Slurry Seal- Zone 1 $ 600,000 Cash Contract : Project includes the application of slurry on approximately 2,006,430 square feet of roadway surface. Slurry sealing of various residential streets.
9 Neff Park Preservation $ 230,000 This project provides for restoration to the George House and Neff House. The Neff Park Renovation will enhance the historical qualities of the park. Renovations will focus on the restoration of George House, the oldest building in La Mirada. The Neff Park restoration will be completed to restore the George and Neff Houses to the original condition when built in the 1890's. The renovation will increase the accessibility of this historic site. The restored George and Neff House will help to educate the community about La Mirada's rich history. Playground Equipment $ 491,000 As a result of a staff assessment of existing park play equipment, Anna J. Martin, Frontier and Neff Parks have been identified as in need of new or additional equipment. To upgrade and replace play equipment to meet ADA accessibility requirements and play equipment safety standards. This will ensure the safety and adequacy of park play equipment at all parks in La Mirada. Splash Enhancements-Energy Enhancements $ 150,000 Grant funds for the following items were received from Supervisor Knabe's office for Splash: LED pool lights, efficiency pool pumps, solar heating system, toddler slide and miniature golf course. To improve energy efficiency and enhance the play features at Splash!
10 Splash Projects- Pool Plastering (Spa) and Slide Resurfacing $ 120,000 Pool plastering ($60,000); Slide Resurfacing ($60,000)- This project provides for the needed spa replastering and the slide gel coat treatment for the three large slides and the two small slides at Splash! Since its dedication in 2007 the Spa has seen a high amount of usage and with the constant high temperatures the Spa plaster is becoming worn and will need to be replaced. The very popular Splash! slides are in need of a gel coat prior to the Summer 2014 season to help preserve their integrity. Aquatic Center and Civic Center Maintenance $ 75,000 Maintenance at Aquatic Center and Civic Center as needed. Maintenance as needed. Creek Park Bridges $ 250,000 This project would include the replacement of Pedestrian bridge at Creek Park near the restrooms. The previous pedestrian bridge was demolished and removed due to structural safety concerns. This project would replace the bridge and allow access by pedestrians over the flood control channel to access the restroom.
11 Irrigation Pumps $ 75,000 This project would include upgrades to the irrigation booster pump at Splash! Aquatic facility and other areas. The current irrigation booster pumps do not adequately control water pressure as required. The system upgrades will allow the systems to operate more effectively and conserve water use. Valley View and Adoree Signal $ 250,000 The project is installation of a new traffic signal at the intersection of Valley View Avenue and Adoree Street. The intersection at this location has had a numerous traffic accidents including one fatality. Per the Cities Traffic Consultant the location warrants a traffic signal. Funding for the project is dependent on the City being awarded a State funded Highway Safety Improvement Grant. Artesia Traffic Signal $ 282,000 The project is installation of a new traffic signal at Industry Circle East and Artesia Blvd. Public Safety commission and traffic engineer recommended. Funding for the project is State Traffic Improvement (STIP) grant funded.
12 Imperial and Telegraph $ 900,000 This project would include street rehabilitation of portions of Telegraph Road, turn lanes and median improvements at the intersection of La Mirada Boulevard and Imperial Highway and traffic signal improvements at the intersection of Imperial Highway and Telegraph Road. The project will improve traffic flow and reduce congestion at the intersection of Imperial Highway and La Mirada Boulevard. The traffic signal at Imperial Highway and Telegraph Road is in need of improvement to conform to current codes. La Mirada Boulevard Median $ 60,000 This project would repair damaged median noses on La Mirada Blvd. Lifting of median pavement caused by tree roots creates safety concerns and is aesthetically unappealing. This project would upgrade the medians using various landscaping techniques to improve safety and improve the appearance of the community. Imperial/City Limit to City Limit $ 1,617,464 Construction of raised center medians including landscaping and lighting on Imperial Highway from the west city limit to the east city limit as a cooperative project with the County of Los Angeles. Federal funding in the amount of $1.7 million has been made available for this project. Landscaped medians on Imperial Highway from Santa Gertrudes to the east City Limit. Project will include implementation of water conservation technology. To reduce traffic speeds, mitigation congestion and enhance enforcement efforts while improving lighting and aesthetics of the Imperial Highway Corridor.
13 Noise Mitigation Study $ 75,000 This project would include a sound and vibration study as related to the neighborhood adjacent to Stage Road along the BNSF Railroad right of way. This project will address concerns from residents adjacent to the railroad tracks regarding excessive noise due to railway operations. Foster Park Security Cameras $ 40,000 Surveillance cameras and automatic license plate recognition system (ALPRS) cameras to capture vehicle and pedestrian activity in the Foster Park area. The cameras will be installed at Foster Road and Marquardt Avenue, Marquardt Avenue and Ratliffe Street, and Marquardt Avenue and Imperial Highway. The cameras will deter criminal activity and assist with apprehension of suspects.
