3 MESSAGE FROM DR DANNY JORDAAN President of the South African Football Association Our goal has always been to build winning national teams so that by 2022, we will be in a position to compete and be counted among the best in the world. And to do this, we have to qualify for major continental and world tournaments with a certain degree of consistency. One can only be the best by competing with the best year-in and year-out. Our ultimate aim through Vision 2022 is to rank our flagship men's senior national team, Bafana Bafana, consistently among the top 3 in Africa and the top 20 in the world. We are confident that this is achievable as we are already beginning to see the fruits of Vision In recent years our junior teams have been qualifying for major tournaments on a regular basis and going forward we must make certain that these teams compete admirably at these tournaments and are not just there to make up the numbers. That is what we expect our BURGER KING -sponsored U-20 national team, Amajita, to do in the Korea Republic. The FIFA U-20 World Cup has always been a launch pad for successful senior national teams. It is at such tournaments that future stars are born. The South African U-20 side last played in a World Cup in 2009 in Egypt where the likes of Thulani Serero, Ramahlwe Mphahlele, Kermit Erasmus, Kamohelo Mokotjo, Darren Keet, Thulani Hlatshwayo and Andile Jali took part. These seven players were all in the Bafana Bafana squad that played internationals against Angola and Guinea-Bissau just a few months ago. I am confident that with the amount of time and resources we have invested into these players they will be able to impress on this world stage. Amajita showed glimpses in March of what they are capable of when they earned South Africa's berth for this World Cup by finishing fourth at the CAF U-20 AFCON tournament in Zambia. Several of our players collected individual awards at this continental championship. Many of the you have been together since the Under 17 level when BURGER KING began backing you on the road to the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile. You understand very well what this opportunity to shine represents. Such a chance does not come along often; so tackle it with both feet and make it count for the sake of your careers, your families and your country. All of South Africa will join with me in watching and cheering on your exploits in the Korea Republic. Go well, enjoy yourselves and above all, perform to the utmost of your abilities.

It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all love of what you are doing. This quote rings true for the Amajita team and I hope they will continue to work hard on the field and love playing the game. The BURGER KING South Africa team is extremely proud of Amajita for making it to the FIFA U-20 World Cup the first team to do so since we last qualified eight years ago. We are confident that after it's recent run at the CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Zambia the team is well prepared to take on Japan, Italy and Uruguay in their Group D. Under the leadership of SAFA President Dr Danny Jordaan, Coach Thabo Senong and the technical team, we have watched these players grow and rise through the ranks. Some players in this group were part of the team that participated in the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile which is proof that the structures are in place that allow for development and growth at national level. As the title sponsor of Amajita, we are impressed by the journey towards Vision 2022 and believe it is firmly on track. Our objective remains to develop young footballers in South Africa. This team, earmarked as the next generation of Bafana Bafana players, has already produced some senior caps and we are very hopeful that more players will turn out for Bafana Bafana as they take to the field in the coming years and play world-class football thanks to all the training and opportunities at the junior level. MESSAGE FROM MR THABO SENONG Head Coach of Amajita, the Men s Under 20 National Team Once again I would like to say how very proud I am of the Amajita team for having qualified for this FIFA U-20 World Cup Korea Republic Last year we beat Namibia and Lesotho in home and away ties without conceding any goals to advance to the CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Zambia this past March. This was not an easy tournament as we played against teams from Cameroon, Senegal, Sudan and Guinea but we achieved our objective of finishing in the top four to make sure we qualified for the most important showpiece. This feat is paramount to the development of football in South Africa. This will be a platform to showcase South African talent and it forms part of SAFA s Vision 2022 plan to make sure we build a very strong generation that will graduate to the next level, the Under 23s (Olympic team). From there some of these players will earn promotion to form the core of the senior national team, Bafana Bafana, so that they can be part of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar. We have had a very good preparation plan which included a training camp in the Netherlands and Germany where we were able to expose our players to good training and playing facilities as well as to receive some sport science support. We also played some quality friendlies against good opposition in both countries. Our final preparation was done here in the Korea Republic where we arrived very early in order for the players to adapt to the time difference and the Asian climate. This World Cup is not going to be easy; we are fully aware of the challenges lying ahead of us. My technical team and I having been working hard to monitor and nurture talent in order to make sure that we put South African football on the continental and the global map. I am very proud as a coach to be leading this team and am very pleased to have witnessed the players growing mentally and becoming stronger physically. I just wish to say thank you to SAFA and to all South Africans for allowing me the opportunity to lead this very promising generation of footballers.
