5 DIVISION FORMATS OPEN DIVISION 5 Player + 3 subs Team Handicap using 20 game format Substitutes allowed during match Teams eligible for annual City Tournament (Must play 2 of 3 sessions in the current sanction year and a total of 30 games). League prize money paid on team wins 1st place in Summer, Fall & Winter is eligible for a paid spot at OCMA State Tournament. (Must play 2 of 3 sessions in the current sanctions year). 7 SHAFFER ENTERTAINMENT QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS Q. What does it cost the player to join the league? A. $11 per year for VNEA sanction card and patch, $15 per year for BCA sanction card and patch. Sanctioning in both VNEA and BCAPL gives teams the opportunity to participate in the Shaffer City Tournament, the State (Canton) and National (Las Vegas) Tournaments in both VNEA and BCAPL. Sanctions must be paid the first night of league play ($26) each person. Q. What does it cost the player to play in the Shaffer Entertainment Pool Leagues? A. It depends on the payment plan each team chooses (see Page 11), plus quarters for the pool table. Q. What does it cost the tavern owner to sponsor a team in the Shaffer Entertainment Pool Leagues? A. $5.00 A week per team sponsor fee. $15 of this fee goes to the OCMA State Tournament fund. Q. How many players do I need? A. Each team consists of 5 players in the Open divisions and up to 3 subs. Trios 3 Players plus up to 2 subs. 9 Ball 5 players. (we recommend at least one sub). Q. How long is the session? A. Each league session is 12 weeks, (Summer, Fall & Winter) B. Q. What night will my team play? A. Shaffer Entertainment Pool Leagues run Sunday through Thursday. Q. How often does my team play? A. Teams play every week (excluding Holiday weeks or Bye weeks) in a 12 week league schedule. Q. What can my team win? Shaffer Entertainment Pool Leagues will have cash payouts based on rounds points won, also award pins and patches for feats earned in the league play, and winners of 7
8 SHAFFER ENTERTAINMENT QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS (continued) Q. Who is eligible for the end of the year for the OCMA State Tournament? A. Each player must be sanctioned and have played a minimum of 7 nights in one session with the same team, or 10 nights in two sessions. In the current sanction year. Q. Who is eligible for the end of the year for the BCAPL State Tournament? A. Each player must be sanctioned and played 12 weeks. In the current sanction year. Q. Who is eligible for the VNEA and BCAPL International Tournament? A. Each player must be sanctioned, VNEA each player must have played 12 league nights per year. BCAPL each player must have played 8 weeks in one session. In the current sanction year. Q. Who is eligible for the City Tournament? A. Each player must be sanctioned played in 2 sessions and have played 30 games. In the current sanction year. Q. Can women play on a men s team? A. Yes. In addition to open leagues (men or women on a team), we also offer an all women league if we have enough teams. Q. Who takes care of the money and Stats? A. Shaffer Entertainment keeps all monies in the league account and will provide weekly stats available at as well as the individual averages (for handicaps). Q. What is the game format? A. Leagues will play under the BCAPL format, which is: Open division 20 games round robin format, provided they do not play the same player twice. Q. How do you keep score? A. Each player receives 1 point for each ball that they legally pocket, plus 3 points for winning the game. This means there is a total of 10 points for the winner. The loser can score no more than 7 points. 8

12 SHAFFER ENTERTAINMENT LEAGUE PAYMENT PLAN PAYMENT PLANS: Open Division, Women s Division & Trios Full Payments Open division & 9ball teams will pay $360. Trios division will pay $252. If your team decides to pay in full money must be in no later then the 3rd week of play or the team will have to pay $420. Weekly Payments Open division & 9ball teams will pay $35 per team/week = $420 for 5 players at $7 per player/week. Trios division teams will pay $21 per team/week = $252 for 3 players at $7 per player/week. An envelope will be provided for the teams who choose to pay weekly to document payments that are left at our drop off locations. Each team is responsible for getting their team payment to either Shaffer Entertainment or one of our drop off locations in a timely manner. Additional monies from teams that do not pay in full in advance will be deposited into the City Tournament prize fund! Penalty for non-payment of league fees: Payment can be made by cash or check ($50 service charge for all returned checks), If a team misses a payment and is not paid in full amount, the team will lose one round point from the match where the payment was due. Full payment must be received by the next scheduled match or all rounds won will be deducted from the team who is not paid. Any team who is short money or late on payment twice in a session will be dropped from the league. There will be no refunds for teams who drop from the league, NO EXCEPTIONS. 12
