1) Club History The end of the 2010/11 football season saw the sudden end of Oxford City West FC, linked to Oxford City FC. Most of the players went to Arsenal soccer schools and in their first season won both league and league cup and then the futsal cup in Swindon, playing their games in the JPL. The following year saw the boys split and form Reading Development Oxford FC. Still playing in the JPL they started an under 11s team alongside their under 14s team. It was an up and down season to say the least; we moved over to Heyford Park and formed a Sunday league team as well as the JPL team. This was an impressive season for the U14s, winning the league, the league cup and county cup on a Sunday, and Saturday they won the JPL league and league cup. This was the best season to date but it came at a cost; moving home again to Didcot Town FC then finally to our current location at Wheatley Park School. During the same season, the U11s lost their manager. During the 16/17 season, the U15 s finished unbeaten at the top of their league in the JPL. We also took the opportunity to further develop the players by entering a team into the Oxford Mail Boys A League, with Headington Youth. For a second season in a row, the boys won the league. The U12 s are growing in strength under the new manager David Michno, holding the top positions in the goal scorer and gold awards table for their age group in the JPL. The club is now approaching its 6th season and is ready to build on the firm foundations we have put in place, with an increase in coaching staff and the potential addition of a new age group (U17s). 2) Our Vision Our vision is a simple one and it is to create proficient and confident players who will try to play an exciting brand of football through the age groups and into senior football. Oxfordshire Football Development FC exists to provide opportunities in the most popular team game in the world and to provide social, health and long term development benefits for members. We aim to: provide a love of the game to last a lifetime help develop individually excellent players in skill and game understanding facilitate all players to develop their potential enable players to play at a level they are comfortable with as they mature enable players to be skilled enough to play any game style when they reach maturity Our coaching philosophy is to: provide leadership and integrity at all times honour the spirit of the game maximise opportunities for all players at all stages of development understand the needs of individual players; differentiate and provide for the needs of participation, performance and excellence develop the person, not just the player make coaching sessions enjoyable, appropriate, challenging and educational establish a learning centred approach to practice create an environment that allows players to achieve their potential (fear free environment) try to develop brave players players who try to be creative and play without fear of failure Oxfordshire Football Development FC Parents Information Pack Season 2017/18 3

7) Kits Players in the Junior Premier League are required to wear the same kits as per the laws of association football. The club will issue a kit comprising of shirt, shorts and socks at the beginning of the season. The kit remains the property of the club at all times. Players are expected to respect their kit and hand it in at the end of each game. All players are expected to purchase club training kit. This can be ordered and paid for from the Head Coach, Andy Bone. Players are responsible for supplying their own shin pads, football boots and drinks. Cost and contents of full set: Payable on registration and non- refundable once reserved. Junior Senior The kit comprises of: Training top Training shorts Socks Tracksuit Top Tracksuit bottom Rain jacket Bag NB If existing players want to purchase replacement training kit items, please speak to Andy Bone. 8) Health and Safety It is important that players have plenty of drinks for all training sessions and matches, especially during the summer months. Sun cream and a hat should be used during the hot summer weather. No players should wear jewellery of any kind to training and matches. Parents should be aware of the start and finish times of all sessions and ensure their children are registered with the coach and they are there in good time to collect after a session. We respectfully ask that parents come to the pitch to collect players after training sessions. U13 specifically Players will not be permitted to walk either to the car park or home unaccompanied. U16 and U17 specifically If players are making their own way to training and matches on their own, please ensure they do so carefully and are well prepared e.g. Lights and helmets if cycling etc. 9) Sponsorship Oxfordshire Football Development FC Parents Information Pack Season 2017/18 6

Player sponsorship packages are available for all players in replacement to paying fees. Any form of sponsorship is greatly appreciated by our teams. Often sponsorships come from word of mouth and from contacts that a player s parents have in their business life. Sponsoring one of our teams will be a great way to advertise your business, as OFD is a community minded organisation that is well respected and well known in Oxfordshire. 10) Opportunities The OFD is always looking to encourage parents to be part of the Club. Parent helpers are vital to the success of the Club. The Club will support parents wishing to apply for an appropriate position, and will pay for any volunteers to be FA CRB checked and also for any qualifications that would enable you to grow in your role. 11) Fund Raising We need your help to improve our fund- raising. If you have an idea for helping to raise funds, can put on an event or are able to help out at a fund- raising event then please tell your child s coach. Every penny that we raise goes directly to providing a better quality footballing education/experience for our players. 12) Annual General Meeting The club holds an Annual General Meeting. Where parents have become members of the club they are invited to attend the AGM as there will be items that require membership approval in the form of a vote. It is part of the Club s constitution that certain steps cannot be taken without the approval of the members. The Club will make proxy voting available for those that cannot attend. Each year committee members stand down and re- elections take place. The previous and up- coming seasons are discussed; as are Club finances and new ideas are welcomed for fund- raising etc. 13) Fair Play Fair Play is considered to be one of the most important elements in the game of football. It is included as a major rule in FIFAs own code of conduct. To play fair is to play with grace and dignity; it is to promote the more encouraging points to the supporters and to younger generations so that the game is turned into a socially more enjoyable experience. Fair Play has its reward, even when the game is lost. Playing fair earns you respect, while cheats are detested. We have built up a reputation for playing fair and for the encouragement shown to our own teams, and opponents from our parents and supporters. We don t intend to lose this reputation. 14) Codes of Conduct The Club fully supports the FA Respect Campaign and subscribes to the Respect Codes of Conduct. A copy of these Codes of Conduct is included in your pack. All players and parents sign to confirm they have read and understood the Codes of Conduct. Oxfordshire Football Development FC Parents Information Pack Season 2017/18 7

15) Complaints and Grievance Procedure The aims of the complaints procedure: 1. to provide a simple, effective system for dealing with complaints against the club and/or its representatives. 2. to provide a formal response within a given timescale 3. to respect an individual s right to complain or disagree with the outcome 4. to resolve a complaint fairly and speedily Who can make a complaint? Anyone who is not satisfied with any service provided by the club Anyone who claims to have suffered an injustice as a result of action taken, or not taken, by or on behalf of the club its officers or individual members How complaints can be made? Complaints should be submitted in writing and delivered to the club either: In Person By By Post Where do I send my complaint? The Head Coach ofdsports@gmail.com Complaints process Stage 1 - On receipt of a complaint a written acknowledgement will be provided by the Head Coach within 48 hours of receipt. Stage 2 - A Club official will conduct a full investigation into the complaint. This may involve contacting the complainant for more information. The complainant will be kept informed of the progress of the investigation which should not normally take more than two weeks. Stage 3 - A Club Official will write to the complainant within 28 days of receiving the written complaint with the results of the investigation, noting any actions taken or proposed as a result of the complaint. Stage 4 - If the complainant is not satisfied with the outcome, they may appeal in writing to the Club Board who will respond in a similar timeframe. Any appeal to the Board must be made in writing to be received in the club office within ten working days of the date of the letter from the Club Official reporting the outcome. 16) Injury Prevention and Treatment Please report any injury to your Coach as soon as possible. Once you have been assessed you will then be given your training programme, which will tie in with your usual squad sessions. 17) Diet, Nutrition and Hydration Football players are required to compete and provide peak performances on a regular basis with short recovery periods in between. What you eat and drink needs to be correct to take advantage and maximise these short Oxfordshire Football Development FC Parents Information Pack Season 2017/18 8

recovery periods. This includes eating and drinking the right things at the right times and there are 2 key guidelines to follow: you are what you eat the timing of food intake, in relation to exercise, is as important as what you eat The following provides a brief guide of how your body stores the food you eat as energy to help you prepare and recover from games and training. Guidelines for correct nutrition and hydration for football are also provided and related to your training week. Follow these guidelines to put yourself in the right condition to train, play and recover and remember that all three are equally important for an elite footballer. Insulin and Energy Storage for Performance and Recovery Insulin is a hormone released in response to food and is responsible for the storage of energy in the body. It is important for footballers to eat the correct things at the correct times to take advantage of this and maximise training, performance and recovery. You can work out the insulin response using the nutritional information on food packets. A football players diet should be made up of foods, which have a OF WHICH SUGARS content below HALF of the CARBOHYDRATE content. Football players should also eat foods high in sugar in the 20 minutes immediately following exercise (training, game, school sports/pe) to rapidly restore energy. Examples below: FOOD CARBOHYDRATE OF WHICH SUGARS SUGAR CONTENT ½ Bag Haribo Sweets % Reg Portion White Pasta % 1 Slice White Bread % Porridge (with milk) % ½ Tin Baked Beans % Wholemeal Bread % These foods MUST NOT be eaten at other times as this can cause INSULIN DYSFUNCTION which will REDUCE YOUR ABILITY TO TRAIN, PERFORM AND RECOVER!!! 18) Points of Contact Your first point of contact for any queries should always be your age- group coach. He will give you his contact details at the first training session. If he is unable to help you or you wish to discuss the issue further, please speak to Andy if available at a training session or ofdsports@gmail.com 19) Club Officials 2017/18 Club Board: Role Name Contact details Chairman Paul Fawke paulfawke@hotmail.com Oxfordshire Football Development FC Parents Information Pack Season 2017/18 9
