2 Horned Frog Notes About the TCU-KU Series Kansas leads the all-time series 3 games to 0. The last meeting resulted in an KU win on Dec. 1, 2003, in Fort Worth. The Horned Frogs trailed by just one, 39-38, at halftime of that contest. Both TCU and Kansas were rated in the top 25 when the teams squared off on Dec. 20, 1997, in Kansas City, Mo. On that night, No. 24 TCU was upended by second-ranked Kansas by a count. The first time that TCU and Kansas met was in the 1952 NCAA Tournament when the unranked Frogs played the eighth-ranked Jayhawks. The Western Regional game was played in Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Mo. The Jayhawks won the game by a count and went on to win the 1952 NCAA Championship. That was the only game in the tournament that KU won by fewer than 17 points. TCU finished that season with a 24-4 record and won the Southwest Conference title with an 11-1 league record. The Horned Frogs were led that year by first-team allconference performers George McLeod and Johnny Ethridge. Mama, I m Coming Home Thursday night s game featuring the TCU Horned Frogs and the Kansas Jayhawks is a homecoming for head coach Neil Dougherty, who served as an assistant coach at KU for seven seasons. During his seven campaigns, Kansas averaged nearly 30 victories per season and won four conference championships. The Jayhawks advanced to the NCAA Final Four in his final season in Lawrence before falling to eventual champion Maryland. He was introduced as TCU s head coach on March 25, 2002, just one day after Kansas reached the Final Four with an Elite Eight win over Oregon. Dougherty rejoined the Jayhawks for their game against the Terrapins. At his introductory press conference, Dougherty held up a string from the net that the Jayhawks had just cut down after winning the Midwest Regional. He said, I had the chance to snip this piece of net and it looks so insignificant as it stands right here as I am holding it, but you would have to fight me, every one of you, to pry it out of my hand right now and that is what we want to get to. I want student-athletes who come through this university to have the feeling and sense of accomplishment that those young men had yesterday up in Madison, Wis., because I am going to tell you--it was great! It was so good to see the smiles on their faces and that can be done here. It can be accomplished and that is what we are going to set out to do. The Last Meeting (Box Score Below) Fort Worth native Keith Langford scored 24 points on 9-of-10 shooting in his homecoming and sparked the game-deciding run in the second half to lead No. 1 Kansas to an victory over TCU. Kansas led for good after Langford's short jumper in traffic with 17:33 left broke a tie. TCU had its only lead after Corey Santee's 3-pointer in the first minute of the second half made it The Horned Frogs were hosting a No. 1 team for the first time ever. Santee led TCU with 19 points, while Nucleus Smith had 13. TCU managed to trail by just one, 39-38, at halftime when Chudi Chinweze grabbed a missed 3-pointer by Santee, then turned and shot just before the buzzer sounded. #1/1 Kansas 85, TCU 66 (Game #3) Dec. 1, Daniel-Meyer Coliseum - Fort Worth, Texas Kansas Jayhawks (3-0) ## Player fg-fga 3fg-3fga ft-fta reb pf tp a to blk s min 23 SIMIEN, Wayne (f) PADGETT, David (c) LANGFORD, Keith (g) MILES, Aaron (g) GIDDENS, J.R. 3 Horned Frog Notes The Ties That Bind The Dougherty family ties to the University of Kansas and the Sunflower state are strong, and there will be numerous family and friends of Coach Dougherty at the game. Here are just some of the notes on his return: * Head coach Neil Dougherty was born and raised in Leavenworth, Kan., which is approximately a 45-minute drive from Lawrence. Dougherty was an all-state guard and earned honorable mention All-America status as a senior at Leavenworth High School. He led his team to a state championship game appearance in the spring of 1978 when he was a junior. Leavenworth lost to Selina South, but Dougherty hit 16 field goals, a Class 4A record that still stands today. * Dougherty was given the nickname Booty, after former Kansas player Booty Neal ( ). * Neil and Patti s oldest child, daughter Megan, attended KU her freshman year prior to transferring to TCU prior to the academic year. * Dougherty s sister, Lisa, is one of the top players in the history of Kansas women s basketball program. She played from and helped the Jayhawks to a pair of Big Eight titles and two NCAA Tournaments (1987 and 1988). For her career, Lisa scored 1,163 points, which ranks 13th all time among KU players. * Neil P. Dougherty, a sophomore guard, attended Lawrence Free State High School for three years prior to moving to Fort Worth. * Dougherty s legacy lives on in a group of students -- Neil's Atomic Fireballs -- that still camps for seats at Allen Fieldhouse three seasons after Dougherty's last game as a KU assistant. Dougherty started a tradition of eating Atomic Fireball candy for good luck before and during Jayhawk games. Any player who was injured was to hold the fireball in his mouth until it dissolved without drinking any water in order to contribute to the team. The craze took off and soon fans were delivering Atomic Fireballs to the team on road trips. Look for plenty of fireballs to be available courtside for Thursday s game. * Dougherty on his return to Lawrence: When I signed the contract to play the games, I had goosebumps. That shouldn't surprise me because I had goosebumps every day for seven years when I walked through the tunnel at Allen Fieldhouse. It's a special place and a time in my life I will not forget. * Dougherty is a die-hard Kansas City Chiefs fan who is known to look at the Kansas City football schedule prior to arranging his team s practice times. TCU sophomore Blake Adams and Kansas City wide receiver/kick returner Dante Hall both graduated from s Aldine Nimitz High School. * Dougherty and current KU senior Wayne Simien both are graduates of Leavenworth High School. It s a Long Road Back TCU will conclude its season-long four-game road trip with a matchup with No. 2 Kansas on Thursday night. After playing their first four games at home, the Frogs will have played four straight and five of their next six contests on the road. Between Nov. 26 and Dec. 20, TCU will have had just one home game (Sunday, Dec. 12 vs. ). Until this stretch, TCU had not played four consecutive games outside Fort Worth since Nov. 24-Dec. 2, 2000, when the team played three games in the Thanksgiving Classic in Las Vegas before traveling to UT-San Antonio. Prior to that, TCU last played four straight away from home in the season. All-Time Against the Top 25 The TCU Horned Frogs are (.118) all time against teams ranked in the nation's top 25. TCU has just one victory over a ranked opponent on the road ever. That win came on Jan. 19, 1998, when TCU upended 24th-rated Hawaii, 83-76, in Honolulu. Since that time, the Frogs have lost nine straight, most recently an decision at 20th-ranked on Mar. 3, In all, TCU is 1-44 (.022) against top-25 teams outside of Fort Worth. Have Ball, Will Play Kansas will be the 11th ranked opponent that TCU has played in Coach Dougherty s 65th game at the helm of the program. Prior to his arrival, the Horned Frogs played just seven ranked teams from the season through the campaign, a span of 124 games. During the entire decade of the 1990s, TCU played just 19 ranked teams in 303 games. TCU is 1-9 against top-25 teams under Dougherty, but 1-3 against teams rated in the nation s top 10. That Win Made Our Top 10 TCU is now 5-34 (.128) all time against top-10 teams, with the first two wins coming at neutral sites and the last three in Daniel-Meyer Coliseum. 4 Horned Frog Notes It s Like Deja Vu All Over Again Last year, Kansas moved atop the Associated Press poll the night of the game against TCU. This week, the Jayhawks also may jump to No. 1 after Wake Forest was defeated last week. In addition, last year s game was also televised on the ESPN network and Fran Fraschilla handled analyst duties. Storied Traditions Nine programs on TCU s schedule, including Kansas, have made a total of 39 NCAA Final Four appearances since 1940, and those schools have won nine NCAA Championships. Coach Dougherty helped lead Kansas to the 2002 Final Four. TCU s Storied Opponents School Final Fours NCAA Titles (Years) Kansas 12 4 (1922, 1923, 1952, 1988) Louisville 7 2 (1980, 1986) 6 2 (1961, 1962) (1977) DePaul Charlotte 1 0 Against the Big 12 The TCU Horned Frogs are (.419) all time against schools that currently make up the Big XII. Obviously, the vast majority of those games have been played against Baylor, Texas, Texas A&M and Tech Tech, while they competed in the former Southwest Conference. The only school in the Big XII that the Frogs have never beaten is Kansas (0-3). Since Neil Dougherty took the reins at TCU, the Frogs have gone 2-3 against the league, with wins over Baylor (1) and Texas Tech (1) and losses to Texas Tech (2) and Kansas (1). Current Frogs Against the Jayhawks Marcus Shropshire is the only Horned Frog player to have played Kansas more than one time, as the transfer from Texas Tech has played four games against the Jayhawks, including one in Allen Fieldhouse his sophomore campaign. Shropshire is averaging 8.8 points per outing, which includes a pair of 13-point games. The senior is 9-for-23 (.391) from three-point range against the Jayhawks. Corey Santee had 19 points and five assists in 36 minutes against KU last year. No other current TCU player scored double figures in that contest. Early and Often The TCU Horned Frogs played six games in the first 10 days of the regular season, meaning that 20 percent of the team s regular-season games were completed by Nov. 28. TCU s next six games are spaced a little more favorably, a 24-day span from Nov. 29 to Dec. 22. This is just the second time this season that the Horned Frogs have had more than one day between games. Some Early Bracketology When ESPN s guru on the field of 65, Joe Lunardi, announced his preseason choices for teams that will play in the 2005 NCAA Tournament, eight of the schools are on the Horned Frogs schedule. The predicted teams and seeds include: (1) Kansas, (3) Louisville, (6) Charlotte, (7), (7), (9) DePaul, (12) and (13) Old Dominion. In addition, three of his next five near-miss teams (, Florida State and Texas Tech) are also on the TCU slate. Lone Star Statement After downing North Texas in Denton on Saturday night, TCU has now won five of its last six and eight of its last 10 games against teams from the state of Texas. TCU will play eight games against teams from the Lone Star State this season. Of the Frogs first nine opponents, five are instate foes. Breaking Down the Victory Over North Texas TCU overcame a 12-point deficit in the first half to drop the North Texas Mean Green on Saturday night in a road game for the Frogs. The Horned Frogs were able to cut the UNT lead to one, 38-37, at intermission and then went on a 14-2 run to start the second half. TCU had a season-high five players reach double figures in the contest, led by Corey Santee s 18. Femi Ibikunle notched his first career double-double with personal highs in points (11) and rebounds (10). TCU made 9-of-17 shots (.529) from three-point range, but made just 50 percent of its free throw attempts (23-for-46). The game was plagued by foul calls, as the teams were whistled for 67 infractions, including 35 on TCU. The Horned Frogs had four players foul out of the contest and Neil Dougherty was issued a technical foul for the first time in his 64-game head coaching career. In the Driver s Seat TCU has trailed at halftime in each of its last four games, but has come back to win the last two contests. In the past four games, the Frogs have been down to Old Dominion (L, 67-62), to Texas A&M- Corpus Christi (L, 85-79), to Florida State (W, 71-70) and to North Texas (W, 88-78). In TCU s first three victories, the Frogs took control of the games prior to intermission. The Horned Frogs led the final 34:01 in their victory over Texas-Arlington, the last 31:24 in their win over Shawnee State and the final 21:07 of their triumph over Texas Tech. Getting Things Iron Out Since starting out the season with a 1-4 record, the Horned Frogs have gone Included in that mark are a pair of wins last year over and a 25-point upset victory over 10th-ranked Louisville during the 2004 Conference USA season. TCU went 7-9 in conference play last year in a league that received six NCAA Tournament bids and two NIT nods. What People In the Business Are Saying About the Frogs On TCU Competing in Conference USA Neil (Dougherty) has done a great job at TCU. I think TCU is going to be a factor (this season). --Bob Huggins, Head Coach On the Program s Improvement There s no question that he (Neil Dougherty) came in with the right pedigree, the right knowledge and certainly the experiences of watching programs grow. He and his staff have done a great job because they haven t skipped any steps. They ve paid attention to the details. You can see that. That team has gotten better all the time and gained confidence all the time. I think their confidence comes from the fact that they have a very fundamental team, they have a great approach to the game on both ends of the floor, and they have a tremendous desire to have individual improvement. I think Neil s done a great job of taking every experience that they ve been through. Even when they ve stumbled a bit, they ve come right back. I think that s the sign of a great coach and a great staff and players that listen. --Tom Crean, Head Coach On Whether TCU Can Take the Next Step Yeah, and they've got the young guy, (Neil) Dougherty, bringing in that kind of winning background. But people have to be patient. Everybody wants that instant climb. One of the real problems we have now is with the NCAA Tournament, because everybody is weighing whether somebody is a success or not by getting into the tournament. If a guy doesn't get into the tournament, it's, Aw, they're failures. The bottom line is everybody wants instant gratification. It can't happen that quickly. But he's a hard worker and a kind of guy that did have some success. They be last season on ESPN. --Dick Vitale, ESPN Analyst All-Time TCU Top 10 Scoring Leaders Rank Player Years Pts 1. 5 Horned Frog Notes It s Been Close Three of TCU s last four games have been decided by six points or less. The Horned Frogs suffered a pair of narrow losses, falling to Old Dominion and to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi prior to picking up a one-point victory (71-70) over Florida State. In the three years under Neil Dougherty, 24 of the 64 games (37.5 percent) have been decided by six or fewer points. TCU is 9-15 in those games, but is 8-7 in the past two years after going 1-8 in the first season. By One, Two or Three After nipping Florida State by a count on Nov. 28 in the Corpus Christi Challenge, TCU improved to 5-4 all time under Neil Dougherty in games decided by three points or less. After suffering defeats in three of the first four one-possession games under Coach D, the Horned Frogs have been victorious in four of their last five games which have been determined by three or less. To the right is a list of the one-possession contests during the Dougherty era. 1, 2, 3-Point Games Under Dougherty Date W/L Score Opponent Nov. 24, 2002 L at (OT) Nov. 30, 2002 W Washington State Jan. 29, 2003 L at (OT) Feb. 18, 2003 L (OT) Jan. 13, 2004 W at Feb. 9, 2004 W at Feb. 14, 2004 L at Mar. 10, 2004 W vs. Nov. 28, 2004 W vs. Florida State Won By One TCU s one-point victory over Florida State was the first one-point game for the school since a triumph at on Jan. 13, In that game, native Chudi Chinweze scored on a putback at the buzzer to give the Horned Frogs the victory. Prior to that, TCU s last one-point decision came at San Jose State, a loss, on Feb. 24, Against FSU, the Horned Frogs did not make a field goal for the last 4:45 of the contest and scored just one point in the final 3:15, but were able to hang onto their slim lead. Better From Beyond TCU drained 11 three-pointers in each of the team s two contests in Corpus last weekend and hit nine at North Texas on Saturday night. Over that time, the Horned Frogs are 31-for-74 (.419) from beyond the arc. In their first four games of the season, the Frogs went 24-for-82 (.293). TCU has made at least 10 threes a total of 11 occasions under head coach Neil Dougherty. The two games in Corpus Christi marked the first time TCU made double-figure three-pointers in back-to-back games since having 13 against and 10 against during the 2003 Conference USA campaign. To Have and to Hold The Horned Frogs are limiting their opponents to just 41.5 percent shooting from the field on the year (171- for-412). The school record for field goal percentage defense is owned by the squad, which held the opposition to 41.5 percent shooting (711-for-1713). I Don t Need a TO Baby After committing a total of 39 turnovers in the first two games of the season (19.5 per game), the Horned Frogs have held onto the ball extremely well the last five times out, averaging just 13.6 turnovers per contest. TCU had only 10 turnovers against both Texas Tech and Old Dominion. On the year, TCU owns a +2.3 turnover margin, having forced 123 turnovers while committing 107. I Thought They Weren t Playing Hockey This Season The TCU Horned Frogs have been changing lines often this season. TCU has nine players who are averaging double figures in minutes, while four other team members are playing at least 5.0 minutes per contest. Thirteen Frogs saw first-half action against Texas Tech and 14 played in the first half against Old Dominion. Holding Tech In Check TCU held the Big 12 s Texas Tech Red Raiders to 68 points in a 15-point point victory on Nov. 23. The Red Raiders (4-1) are averaging 91.4 points per contest through the season s first five games. Throwing out their game against TCU, Texas Tech is averaging 97.3 per game. Not Really Starting at the Beginning In addition to possessing players with multiple years of experience in the Neil Dougherty system, the Horned Frogs also boast a bevy of players who own collegiate starting experience. Here is a list of the nine Frogs who have started a total of 297 games at the Division I level: Corey Santee (86), Corey Valsin (54), Marcus Shropshire (37), Femi Ibikunle (35), Chudi Chinweze (31), Nile Murry (27), Marcus Sloan (17), Aaron Curtis (9) and Art Pierce (1). I Think I Feel A Little Draft NBAdraft.net currently projects TCU s Corey Santee to be the 50th player selected in the 2005 NBA Draft, taken by the Washington Wizards. Santee is the ninth-rated point guard on the list. TCU has not had a player drafted by the NBA since forward Lee Nailon was a second-round pick (43rd overall) by the then-charlotte Hornets in the 1999 draft. The only other players to be drafted from TCU since 1988 are center Reggie Smith (Portland Trailblazers: 2nd round, 31st pick overall in 1992) and forward Kurt Thomas (Miami Heat: 1st round, 10th pick overall in 1995) Conference USA Preseason Coaches Poll 1. In addition, five other opponents (,, Charlotte, and ) received votes in the poll. An Elite League Since Conference USA s inception in the season, the league has received 58 postseason berths, which includes 34 NCAA Tournament participants and 24 National Invitation Tournament appearances. The 58 trips to the postseason equates to an average of 6.4 bids per year. In six of the league s nine years, the league has had at least four NCAA teams and has averaged 3.7 NCAA bids per year. Last year, C-USA was one of just four leagues in the country to receive as many as six NCAA invitations, joining the ACC, SEC and Big East.

6 Horned Frog Notes His Dribble Is Really a Drool TCU assistant coach David Cason and his wife Tamara are the proud parents of a new baby boy. D.J. Cason was born on Tuesday, Nov. 30 at 11:50 a.m. D.J., who weighs 8 pounds and is 20.5 inches long, will be a member of the 2022 recruiting class. Also, TCU play-by-play voice Brian Estridge and his wife Becky have a new addition to the Horned Frog family. Their first child, a son named Gaines, was born on Nov. 2. Here Comes Santee Claus TCU senior point guard Corey Santee is moving up the career leaders list in two major categories. Santee currently ranks eighth on the school s all-time scoring list with 1,427 points and second on the assists list with 478. He passed Gary Turner (1,426) on Saturday against North Texas to slide into eighth on the scoring chart and trails only Prince Fowler (514) in assists. Santee is on pace to close his career as the third-highest scoring player in TCU history and to finish as the school s top assist man. In addition to his rankings in school history, he will finish his career among the top 10 in Conference USA history in both categories. Shrop It Like It s Hot TCU senior guard Marcus Shropshire currently ranks second on the team lead in scoring at 12.7 points per game. He began the season by dropping in a game-high 21 points against UTA. He made five of his first six field goals en route to his fifth career 20-plus point effort. Shropshire, who transferred from Texas Tech following the campaign, helped lead the Horned Frogs to victory over the Red Raiders, as he scored 12 points, including a falling-away three late in the first half that helped TCU take a lead into halftime. The Femi-Nator TCU center Femi Ibikunle recorded the first double-double of his career on Saturday against North Texas. He registered a career-high 11 points on 5-of-5 shooting and added a career-best 10 boards. He has started 35 of 36 games since stepping on the TCU campus. Ibikunle is one of 13 players from Nigeria who is currently playing Division I basketball in the United States. It s Not Sloanly at the Top TCU senior forward Marcus Sloan is considered by many to be the most improved player on the team. He has started all seven games this season and currently leads the team in blocked shots (10) and is second in rebounds (32). Sloan is attempting to become the first player in TCU history (since blocked shots became an official stat in ) to top the Frogs in blocks three consecutive years. He swatted a career-high four shots against Texas Tech earlier this year. Something to Chudi On The 6-7 sophomore from has been huge along the frontline for the Horned Frogs this season, leading the team in rebounding in five of the seven games. He already owns a pair of double-doubles on the year and six in his career, as he registered 12 points and 10 rebounds against UT-Arlington and 13 points and 10 boards vs. Texas Tech. He currently is first on the team in rebounds (7.4) and ranks third in points (11.3), despite coming off the bench in all seven games. Save Your Ticket Stubbs Junior transfer Judson Stubbs has reached double figures in scoring in five of his first seven games as a Horned Frog. He currently sits fifth on the team in scoring average (8.7) and third in rebounding (4.9). Stubbs is also shooting.579 from the field (22-for-38). His numbers have been put up in just 18.4 minutes per game. We Got the Same Five TCU has opened with the same starting lineup in all seven games this year, as Marcus Sloan and Femi Ibikunle have started down low, while Corey Santee, Marcus Shropshire and Nile Murry have been on the perimeter. However, TCU s bench has also played a vital role in terms of playing time and production. Those five players have combined to play 779 of the team s 1,400 minutes this year, which is 56 percent. TCU s starters have accounted for 316 of the squad s 527 points (60 percent) and 130 of the Frogs 284 rebounds (46 percent). Good News, Bad News The TCU Horned Frogs have been to the charity stripe a league-high 201 times in seven games and their trips per game average of 28.7 ranks second in the league behind only Charlotte. The bad news is that the Frogs have struggled converting the shots this season, shooting a league-low 58.7 percent (118-for-201). About the New Faces TCU s four new players have all made significant contributions this season. Nile Murry, a 6-4 junior guard from, sat out last year after transferring from Temple, where he started 20 games over two years. Fellow junior Judson Stubbs (6-7, 228) comes from Miami Dade C.C., where he averaged 18.2 points and 9.1 rebounds per game. The team also has a pair of freshman guards from Texas--Brent Reese-Hackett, 6-3, from Fort Worth, and Neiman Owens, 6-4, from Channelview. Reese-Hackett averaged 25.9 points, 8.6 assists and 3.7 steals at Southwest, while Owens averaged 18 points, 10 rebounds and five assists at Channelview. In their first three career games, here are some of the key stats: * Murry has started all seven games and ranks fourth on the team in scoring (10.3 ppg). * Stubbs ranks fifth on the team in scoring (8.7 ppg) and third in rebounds (4.7 rpg). * Reese-Hackett ranks third on the team in assists (1.7 apg), which included 6 against Shawnee State. * Owens ranks tied for second on the team in steals (1.1 spg) and is averaging 1.9 boards per contest. News You Can Use TCU Announces Fall Signees TCU announced the signing of four players for in the fall period. TCU still has one scholarship available for the 2005 class. Dallas Hunter, a 6-5, 200-pounder, averaged 18.4 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.5 blocks as a junior at Plano East High School. Hunter is rated as the No. 18 prospect in Texas by Mike Kundstadt s Texas Basketball Review. In addition, local product Clarence Masters (Cedar Hill, Texas/Cedar Hill H.S.) has inked with the Horned Frogs. Masters, 6-5, 200, is rated 38th in the state according to Texas Basketball Magazine. He helped Cedar Hill to a 35-2 record and a runner-up finish at state in Class 5A last year. Aliou Kane, a 6-10, 245-pounder who is currently a sophomore at Collin County Community College, will have two seasons in Fort Worth. He played one year for Minnesota of the Big 10, averaging 0.5 points and 0.6 rebounds in 17 games. Another big man joining the Frogs will be 6-9, 270-pound Allen Taylor of Irmo, S.C. He was an all-state player as a junior after averaging 20 points, 14 rebounds and three blocked shots. Commitment to Hoops Since Neil Dougherty was named head coach, TCU s facilities have received major upgrades. Inside Daniel-Meyer Coliseum, TCU has built a new locker room (Summer of 2002), installed a new playing floor (Summer of 2003) and upgraded its lighting system (Summer of 2004). In addition, the school completed work on the Ed & Rae Schollmaier Basketball Complex in April of The Schollmaier Basketball Complex is a $5 million facility which features two full-length practice courts, a basketballonly weight room, coaches offices, coaches locker rooms, conference rooms, a lobby and a courtyard. Playing With a Full Deck For the first time since taking over the TCU program in 2002, head coach Neil Dougherty has a full complement of 13 scholarship players at his disposal. TCU had been handcuffed by the 5-8 scholarship rule over the past two years. TCU finally would have been at full scholarship strength this year even before the NCAA voted to get rid of the 5-8 rule, which allowed a maximum of five scholarship student-athletes in one year and a maximum of eight over two seasons. Many Happy Returns In addition to having four starters back from last season (only guard Nucleus Smith, who averaged 8.6 points and 3.8 rebounds, is gone due to graduation), the 11 TCU returnees played 5,038 of the team s total of 5,825 minutes last year (86.5 percent). They also accounted for 86.9 percent of the team s offense and 88.9 percent of its rebounding. Staying Close to Home Of the 15 players on this year s roster, 12 hail from Texas, which is up from six just two years ago. Of the 12 players who have come to TCU since Dougherty arrived, 10 are from within state borders. Senior-ity TCU has a five-person senior class in , with three of the members (Corey Santee, Marcus Sloan and Corey Valsin) on their way to being four-year letterwinners. Since 1980, TCU has had just 21 players earn four varsity letters for the Horned Frogs. TCU s other seniors include Marcus Shropshire, who transferred from Texas Tech, and Aaron Curtis, who transferred from Lon Morris J.C.
