4 4 WELCOME TO THE OSRBA STATE CONVENTION The Ohio State Rabbit Breeders would like to welcome you to the 2019 Ohio State Mini Convention and Show at the Ohio Expo Center in Columbus, Ohio. We invite you to participate in the many activities during the Convention starting out Friday evening with the Judge s Conference and concluding Sunday afternoon with the membership meeting. Any questions regarding the judge s conference should be directed to Kevin Hooper, Judges Conference chair. This year the show we will again be holding an All-Breed show on both Saturday and Sunday, however all the shows will take place in the O Neill building as we did not have enough entries last year to warrant two buildings. To be cost effective, we have reverted back to a single building. In the future if warranted, we can go back to the additional building if needed. PLEASE remember no parking is permitted in the driveways next to the building. Also please note the show is a pre-entry show however we will take late entries at a higher entry rate. Once again, the U.S. Meat Rabbit Championship will be held on Sunday May 5th with the Ohio Meat Rabbit Producers Association hosting their commercial show on Saturday May 4th. Entries for both shows will be taken at the OMRPA booth with payment of check or cash only. Also don t forget they OMRPA will be having their meat rabbit auction shortly after the conclusion of the commercial show. The youth activity schedule is listed in the catalog and includes most of the same contests which are held at the ARBA convention. Any questions, please contact Hannah Foster. All youth activities will be held in the O Neill Building and they will have a raffle table to support the training and expenses to ARBA, and will also raffle off some rabbits for the youth scholarship. The OSRBA would like for you to join us at 8am on Sunday morning for the Opening Ceremonies. This will be held in front of the OSRBA raffle table. We will be presenting the youth awards, the royalty winners, scholarship winners, Distinguished Service Awards, and the Hall of Fame recipients. Please plan on attending to receive your awards and to congratulate all of the award winners This show happens because of all the dedicated volunteers who give up their time and effort to make this show one of the premier shows in the United States. As always, we need volunteers with the set up and takedown of the cooping, show tables, office and many other tasks. Without all the help and continued support this show is not possible. Thank you for all the help donated to make this show a success. In closing, I would like to thank Don Retcher for his 15 plus years of service for the good of OSRBA. John Borsick, General Chairman

10 OSRBA MINI CONVENTION MEMORIAL Chuck Henderson 2019 OSRBA Memorial The 2017 OSRBA Mini Convention is honored to dedicate this year s show to Chuck Henderson. For over 30 years Chuck has worked countless hours to make the OSRBA what it is today. During this time Chuck has held many different positions including Director, Vice President, and President of the OSRBA. His hard work included working to make the 1986, 1992, and the 2000 ARBA Conventions in Columbus the success they were. Chuck spent many hours helping make equipment used at these ARBA Conventions, and is still being used every spring at our Mini Conventions. This equipment is also rented out at many ARBA Conventions and National Breed Shows. He supervised and helped setup and teardown at Indianapolis, Fort Worth, and Grand Rapids Conventions. Many people do not realize the hard work needed to make these conventions a success. Chuck has attended many more ARBA Conventions and National Breed Shows as an exhibitor. Chuck started going to rabbit shows when his son Chip wanted to get his merit badge in Boy Scouts, when he was a Scout Master in He has since raised Havana, Florida White, Californian, and Standard Chinchilla rabbits. Chuck with several others helped start the Great Lakes Standard Chinchilla Club and holding all the different offices over the years. He is a lifetime member of the National Chinchilla club as well as the ARBA. Chuck is a member of the Ohio California as well as the National California Club. He was member of the National Havana, Florida White, and Standard Chinchilla Clubs as well. Chuck was a member of the original State Line Rabbit Breeders Association, while holding every office of this club over the years. He has helped many youth and adult breeders over the years with quality rabbits and advice. He had to give up raising rabbits and working at OSRBA Convention due to health reasons. We really miss Chuck helping setup and teardown at the Mini Conventions. He was usually one of the first to arrive and last to leave and spent countless hours working for the OSRBA. Chuck is a proud member of the OSRBA Hall of Fame and a recipient of the Distinguished Service Award. The 2017 Ohio State Rabbit Breeders Convention was dedicated to Chuck Henderson. In 2019, we remember his continued support as we mourn his loss. 10
