1 GAME DAY INFORMATION Ron Tonkin Field 4460 NW 229th Ave. Hillsboro, OR Class-A Affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks HILLSBORO HOPS AT VANCOUVER CANADIANS Monday, June 29, :05 PM Nat Bailey Stadium, Vancouver, British Columbia Game #12 (5-6) Road Game #9 (2-6) LHP JARED MILLER (2-0, 1.50, 2G, 2GS) VS. LHP EVAN SMITH (0-1, 4.66, 2G, 2GS) TONIGHT: Hillsboro will try to snap a threegame losing streak in the fourth game of the five-game series in Vancouver. LHP Jared Miller (2-0, 1.50) has been outstanding in his two starts. LHP Evan Smith goes for the C s. YESTERDAY: The Hops committed five errors en route to a 6-2 loss in Vancouver. Hops pitching allowed just two hits, but starter Tyler Bolton (6ip, 1er) and reliever Mike Cetta (1ip, 4er) each hit a batter to start a run-scoring inning.... Hops OF Stephen Dezzi hit his first career home run, a two-run shot in the 6th that tied the game 2-2. A FIRST: This is the first time in the Hops 3- year history they have lost the first 3 games of a 5-game set. In fact, only twice in 17 previous 5-game series have the Hops even lost the first two games. AVOIDANCE: The Hops have lost 3 in a row for the first time since Aug 8-10 of last year --- the only time in 2014 Hillsboro lost 3 in a row. The last time the Hops lost 4 in a row? When they dropped a franchise-record 6 straight one month into the franchise s existence --- from July 12-17, The day they snapped that six-game losing streak July 18, 2013 was the day the Hops fortunes turned. Starting that day, over the 2013 season s final 43 games, Hillsboro had the best record in the NWL. And in 2014, they also had the league s best record. VS. VANCOUVER: Hillsboro is all-time against Vancouver, regular season and postseason combined, and 7-9 at Nat Bailey Stadium. The Hops went 4-6 against the Canadians in 2013 (2-3 in Vancouver), and 5-5 in the 2014 regular season (3-2 on the road). Then, Hillsboro swept Vancouver in the NWL championship series last year. ANOTHER STACKED COACHING STAFF: The 2015 Hops are led by first-year manager Shelley Duncan, who spent all or part of 7 years in the big leagues with the Yankees, Indians and Rays, appearing in the postseason with the Yanks in Pitching coach Doug Drabek the 1990 NL Cy Young awardwinner returns for his third year. New hitting instructor Javier Colina had a 14-year minorleague playing career. And Hillsboro native and ex-big leaguer Ben Petrick is back for his third year as special consultant. Last year s Hops manager, J.R. House, has already won the Cal League first-half title with Visalia, and 2014 Hops hitting coach Mark Grace is now the assistant hitting coach for the parent D-backs.. ON THIS DATE IN HOPS HISTORY: June 29, 2014: Hops fans celebrated a walkoff win. George Roberts and Tyler Baker hit back-toback doubles in the bottom of the 10th inning for a 4-3 victory over Everett. The Hops built a three-game division lead for the first time in franchise history..
