3 Page 3 WEDNESDAY MORNING ROUNDUP No-Pressure 6, Perfect Gamers 3 With one out in the home half of the first inning, Frank Maire blasted a home run to deep left field to give No- Pressure a 1-0 lead, which stood through three innings. Offense was tough to come by, as a fourth inning single by Will Soos and a single in the fifth by Jon Waler were the only other base hits on the game. Trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the sixth, Bob Cortelezzi, Frank Maire, and Kevin Odey drew consecutive walks to open the frame. With one out, Will Soos, Bill Maire, George Soos, and Chester Scott each drew a base on balls that scored five runs to make it 6-3 heading into the seventh inning. Frank Maire came on in relief of Bill Maire and earned the save on a George Soos-to-Odey-to Bill Maire (4-6-3) double play to end the game. Jon Waler had a standout game with six putouts in right field. Right-hander Bill Maire tossed the first six innings for the victory. Bob Senkar and Kirk Marshall singled to open the fourth inning for Perfect Gamers. Steve Emerick followed with a deep drive triple to right to take a 2-1 lead. Jim Bishop doubled to open the fifth and scored on Reed Bergman s single for the third and final run. Erik Rosenfeld, Emerick and Senkar each had two hits. First baseman John Wilson snared a liner and doubled the runner off second to snuff out a rally in the fifth. Jo-Maxs 10, Jason and the Charbonuts 5 A seven-run first inning outburst featuring singles off the bats of Ken Seelie, Nate Segall, Paul Soos, and Dennis Hatvany, and walks to Gary Tesch, Greg VanValkenburgh, Mark Wainwright, and Dorothy Battles paced host Jo-Maxs to a commanding 7-1 lead. Jo-Maxs added single tallies in the third, fifth, and sixth innings with key hits around seven walks allowed. Seagall, the veteran right-hander, used his fastball, curve and changeup to pitch out of jams in earning the complete-game victory. Seelie had a team-high three hits, while Phil Komaransky and Segall each followed with two. Joe Witcraft walked with two outs and nobody on in the top of the first for Jason and the Charbonuts. Kevin Lacey promptly tripled him home to take an early 1-0 lead. Tim Murdock had three singles and Witcraft smacked a pair of doubles. Robert Lisy doubled and singled and scored twice. Rookie right-hander Steve Bella went the distance in his pitching debut. Third baseman Witcraft shined on defense with a jumping catch to double up a runner in the fifth, and keyed a twin -killing to end the sixth. Los Locos Bastardos 9, Jack Hammers 1 Matt Cole and Bud Zimmerman singled, and John Ginty, Dylan Wessell, Paul Sparrow, Terry Daniel, and Ken Kramer walked in the home half of the first to give Los Locos Bastardos a 4-0 lead. In the second, Ben Brown singled and Jim Gillespie reached on a hit-bypitch before Ginty and Marty Cole stroked back-to-back doubles. Wessell followed with a single to complete the outburst and four-run rally to extend the lead to 8-0. Los Locos Bastardos completed their scoring in the third when Brown singled home Zimmerman, who opened the frame with a base hit. Shining on defense was Terry Daniel with a great catch in left to end the first, and David Azzolina, who made a diving catch at second base in the sixth. Azzolina and Ginty were stellar in relief of Zimmerman, who earned the victory. Dale Schaumleffel led off the top of the fourth with a single for Jack Hammers, motored to third on a Jack Morgan double, and scored on a Tony Catanzarite RBI-grounder. Rob Pietruszka, Ryan Dobie, Trevor Durkalski, and Catanzarite each singled to round out the offense. Durkalski made a nice play to end a rally in the second, while Catanzarite sprinted off the mound to make a diving catch in foul territory in the fifth. Wright Brothers 20, Chief Noc-A- Homa 16 With playoff implications hanging in the balance, visiting Wright Brothers found themselves trailing 8-0 at the end of the first and 12-1 at the end of the second. A five-run rally in the third, keyed on base hits by Pete Cadden and Bill Schubert, got them back into the game. Trailing 14-8 heading to the top of the sixth, Casey Cadden, Ed Cosentino, John Cadden, and Pete Cadden kept the line moving with consecutive singles to open the inning. AJ Pease smashed a triple to clear the bases, and Bill Schubert, Jake Pease, Chris Schubert, Dave Schubert, and David Andrews followed with singles. Casey Cadden clubbed a ball to the left field fence for the second bases-loaded triple of the inning. Cosentino singled him home to complete the twelve-run rally to gain the improbable victory. Todd Jirousek and Cody Westmoreland had four hits apiece to pace a twenty-three hit attack for Chief Noc-A-Homa, who scored twelve runs over the first two innigs. Ryan Jirousek and Scooter Bilsky tripled, while Jim Batzel and Ryan Jirousek doubled to account for their team s extra-base hits. Brett Wilhelm had a teamhigh three RBI on two singles and a walk.

4 Page 4 WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON ROUNDUP Jack Hammers 16, Chief Noc-A- Homa 5 After Aaron Morgan, Tony Catanzarite, and Renea Morgan turned a thrilling double play to end the top of the first, Jack Hammers exploded for seven runs in the home half of the inning. Rob Pietruszka ignited his team with a leadoff triple. Catanzarite and Josh Nathanson followed with back-to-back doubles that were followed by consecutive singles by Trevor Durkalski, Aaron Morgan, and Doug Schaumleffel. Jack Morgan then belted a bases-loaded triple and rode home on Renea Morgan s two-out single. A pair of four-run rallies in the second and third innings put the game away for right-hander Court Durkalski, who threw strikes in notching the complete game victory. In the sixth, Frank Durkalski turned in two nice plays at third base and Bruce Mills made a key putout at second to stop a rally. Brett Wilhelm led all Chief Noc-A-Homa batters with three hits, while Ray Jirousek, Andrew Nissen, Rick Arnholt, Mike Burns, and Scooter Bilsky followed with two. Battling throughout, Todd Jirousek singled and Jim Batzel doubled in the three-run seventh. Burns, the veteran right-hander, struck out five in pitching a complete game. Los Locos Bastardos 33, Wright Brothers 8 In a must-win game for Los Locos Bastardos to gain an HLCS berth, the bats were booming from the start. In sending eighteen batters to the plate in the top of the first, David Azzolina singled and tripled, John Ginty singled and doubled, and Dylan Wessell had a pair of singles en route to taking a 14-0 lead. Five-run rallies in the fourth, fifth, and sixth featured doubles by Terry Daniel and Azzolina, and multiple singles by Paul Sparrow and Ken Kramer. A single tally in the third and a three-run rally in the seventh completed the scoring. Azzolina had a team-high six RBI, and Matt Cole and Bud Zimmerman followed with four RBI each. With the bases loaded in the bottom of the first, third baseman Marty Cole stepped on the bag and then threw to catcher Ben Brown, who tagged out a runner at the plate for an inning-ending double play. Pete Cadden and AJ Pease each tripled for Wright Brothers as part of a fifteen hit attack. Pease and Bill Schubert each had three hits, while Jake Pease and Marc Gutin followed with two. Despite suffering the difficult loss, Wright Brothers won the Heroes League Wild Card and has the opportunity for redemption in the HLCS rematch this morning. Jason and the Chabonuts 5, No- Pressure 4 Steve Bella led off the bottom of the first with a double for Jason and the Charbonuts. Bryan Panteck and Joe Witcraft followed with singles to tie the game 1-1. Dennis Hudak stroked a two-out double and Tim Forrestal knocked in the fourth run of the inning with a single. The final tally came in the fifth, when Rick Wessell led off the inning with a single. Witcraft belted a two-out triple to give his team a 5-3 lead to complete his three-for-three afternoon. The rookie righthander used his fastball and change to strike out three and walk one en route to a complete game victory. Backed by good defense, Vic Murdock made two nice plays in center to save two runs. Bob Cortelezzi, Frank Maire, and Will Soos each singled in the top of the first for No-Pressure to take a 1-0 lead. Maire and Kevin Odey clubbed consecutive doubles, while Rick Bamler and George Soos singled to score two runs in the fourth to close the gap to 4-3. In the seventh, Jon Waler doubled and Jim Bitgood singled, but No-Pressure did not score. Maire struck out seven in his complete game effort. Jo-Maxs 9, Perfect Gamers 7 With one out in the top of the second, Steve Marcelli and Mark Wainright stroked consecutive singles for Jo- Maxs. Paul Soos then drilled a double to tie the game 1-1. Dorothy Battles, who made several great plays at second throughout the day, walked to open the decisive sixth inning. Following was Dennis Hatvany with a single, and Steve Sutker and Ken Seelie, who each walked. Bobby Voth then smashed a bases loaded double. After Nate Segall walked to load the bases, Gary Tesch reached on a hit-by-pitch to force in a run that cut the deficit to 7-6. Marcelli walked to lead off the seventh, moved to third on Wainright s single, and scored on a Soos RBI-grounder that tied the game to send it into extra innings. Sutker and Seelie each singled to start the eighth. With one out, Segall singled in the go-ahead run and Tesch s RBI-grounder to second added an insurance run. Tesch, who came on in relief of Seelie in the seventh, withstood a threat to earn the hard-fought victory. Perfect Gamers rallied for five runs in the home half of the sixth on singles by Steve Emerick and Scott Emerick, and a Chris Stafford double to retake the lead at 7-6. Steve Emerick had a pair of doubles, two singles and three RBI. Stafford also stroked two doubles and knocked in three runs. Veteran right-hander Bob Senkar struck out eight in his extra inning complete game effort.
