4 This & That MUST SEE TV--Sunday s series finale in Wrigley Field posted a 14.3 rating according to the folks at Nielsen, keeping Kansas City s season mark at a 12.3, which is a 128% difference from last year and continues to lead all of Major League Baseball...the lowest rated telecast of the year was last Wednesday s affair in New York, pulling a 6.1 rating, which was just a few points lower than the entire total of last year, which was a 6.7 (6.4 in 2013)...the Royals averaged an 8.9 rating last September while making their rush to the postseason and this year s current number is 3.4 higher. ALL-STAR VOTING--Round two of the voting for the 2015 All-Star Game looked an awful lot like round one as the first ever on-line only vote has produced five Royals at the top of the balloting for a second week...there are still four more weeks of voting for the contest that will be played in Cincinnati on July 14 and managed by Ned Yost, who will be assisted by his coaching staff...salvador Perez leads all American League players with just under 2.7 million votes, while Alcides Escobar, Mike Moustakas, Lorenzo Cain and Alex Gordon are also among players who would be in the starting lineup if balloting ended today...eric Hosmer, Omar Infante and Kendrys Morales are also second in the voting at their respective positions. SERIES-LY SPEAKING--The split of what wound up a 2-game series in Wrigley Field gave Kansas City its third series split of the year to go with a 10-3 mark in the other 13 sets contested...the Royals are 7-0 with a split here in Kauffman Stadium, highlighted by an 8-0 mark in series opening games at home this year. TWO WINNING MONTHS IN THE BOOKS--Kansas City wrapped up May with a 2-1 loss in 11 innings in Chicago, but still managed to post a winning ledger during the month...the Royals spent 23 days either in first place or tied for the top spot, before relinquishing the position with Sunday s loss and falling a half-game behind the resurgent Twins...the month of May had not been kind to the Royals in this 21st century, as this marks just the second winning May since the 2000 campaign (15-13 in 2012)...last year s eventual American League championship squad went just in May...KC started 2015 with a 15-7 month of April. WADING THROUGH THE COMPETITION--Relief ace Wade Davis fanned all three Cubs he faced in the eighth inning on Friday...since the start of the 2014 season, Davis has posted an A.L.-best 11 wins in relief, which are tied with Pittsburgh s Tony Watson and Miami s Bryan Morris for the Major League lead...in that span, Wade has an 11-2 ledger with 10 rescues and a 0.77 ERA (8 earned runs in 93.0 innings) while limiting opposing hitters to a.143 mark, third-best in the Major Leagues...since June 27 of last year, Wade has been even better, going 6-0 with 10 saves, an 0.46 ERA (3 ER in 59.1 IP), a.150 opponents average and strikeouts per 9.0 innings, which is fifth best among all hurlers with at least 55.0 innings of work...he has now worked consecutive innings without allowing a home run, the longest-active streak in the Major Leagues...Davis streak dates back to August 24, 2013, which was the date of his last regular season start. WINDY CITY MAKE-UPS--The Royals have been postponed twice this year, each have come in the city of Chicago, with the north side joining in on Saturday with a brutal weather day thus forcing the postponement of that nationally televised contest...kc had been popped during what was to be a 4-game visit to the south side on April 25, with that affair slated to be made up as part of a split doubleheader on Friday, July 17, the first day after the All-Star break...as for the postponed game with the Cubbies, the Royals will return to Wrigley Field for a 7:05 affair on Monday, September 28...that rescheduling actually worked out well for Kansas City, who will be playing in Chicago the following three days of that week against the White Sox. TWO OUT OFFENSE--The Royals not only lead the Majors in team batting with a.278 mark, but they ve even been better at the plate with two outs in an inning, topping the big league charts with a.286 mark (156-for-545)...KC also leads the A.L. in two-out hits (156), rank second in two-out slugging (.429) second in twoout on-base pct. (.346)...in fact, KC has scored 41% of its runs this season (92 of 224) with two down...predictably, several Royals rank among the league-leaders in two-out hitting with Kendrys Morales ranking first among all big league batters with a.394 mark and Lorenzo Cain is tied for second in two-out batting with a.379 mark...morales second in the Majors in two-out hits (26), while Cain and Salvador Perez are tied for third (22)...Morales is tied for second in two-out extra-base hits (10) and ranks tied for third in RBI (19). THE BRUISE BROTHERS--The Royals rank tied with the Pittsburgh Pirates for second in the Majors with 29 hit by pitches, trailing only the Texas Rangers (32)... Kansas City hasn t been hit by pitches with the same proficiency as it was earlier, with the Memorial Day plunking of Mike Moustakas only the second HBP of a Royal in the last 15 games after being drilled 26 times in the first 33 affairs...individually, the Royals have cornered the market in bruises with Alex Gordon leading the American League with nine, followed closely by Moose with his seventh on Monday...Lorenzo Cain is lurking outside the top 10 with four. RANGERS NEXT--The two teams from the Surprise Recreation Campus will meet for the final time in the 2015 regular season this weekend when the Texas Rangers hit town for a 3-game set...kansas City split a 4-game visit to Arlington earlier this month and possesses a advantage in the all-time series...kc has gone in Kansas City vs. the Rangers, including a advantage in Kauffman Stadium. STILL ON TOP OF A.L. IN DIFFERENTIAL--Despite dropping into second place with Sunday s extra-inning setback in Chicago, the Royals continue to lead the American League in run differential at +49, which is 24 runs better than Houston and Toronto, who are tied for second best in the loop at the Royals have dropped to sixth in the A.L. in runs scored with 224, while continuing to lead the league in fewest runs allowed at last season, the Royals outscored their opponents by 27 runs, finishing with an record. vs. Indians (2015) vs. Indians (career) At Home (career) Player AVG AB H HR RBI AVG AB H HR RBI AVG AB H HR RBI AVG AB H HR RBI AVG AB H HR RBI Butera Cain Colon Dyson Escobar Gordon Hosmer Infante Morales Moustakas Perez Rios Carrasco (career) Kluber (career) Starting Pitchers Breakdown Total KC Avg.
