Please periodically check your for news and important dates about the upcoming season. Uniform handouts for football players and cheerleaders will take place a few weeks before practices begin. Your team parent will send you an when the handout dates are confirmed. In order to receive team uniforms/equipment this year, you will be required to provide the following information for all new AND returning football players and cheerleaders at uniform handouts: 1. Copy of birth certificate for all NEW players/cheerleaders. 2. A current picture for all new AND returning players/cheerleaders. Pictures from the school year are recommended. Pictures must be at least a wallet size and no bigger than a 5 x 7. Digital pictures will not be accepted this year. 3. All raffle ticket money (if you chose to sell raffle tickets). 3 NEW POLICY STARTED LAST YEAR IN REGARDS TO UNIFORM AND EQUIPMENT HANDOUTS ALL PLAYERS AND CHEERLEADERS WILL HAVE TO BRING A $100 DEPOSIT CHECK ON THE DAY OF UNIFORM AND EQUIPMENT HANDOUTS THESE DEPOSIT CHECKS WILL NOT BE CASHED THEY WILL BE RETURNED TO THE FAMILIES WHEN THE UNIFORM AND EQUIPMENT IS TURNED IN. 4 ABINGTON JUNIOR COMETS (AJC) PARENT AND PARTICIPANT CONTRACT I, will fully support my son/daughters coach and coaching staff this upcoming AJC season. By signing this contact, I understand that I will not coach from the sidelines, complain about playing time or development of not only my child but the rest of the team. I am fully aware that I represent the AJC program as does my child. I will be respectful during games/practices and let coaches handle referees and on-field situations. The following will not be tolerated from coaches, team moms, players, cheerleaders, parents/guardians or fans: abusive or vulgar language, poor sportsmanship, prejudice, egotistical attitudes or physical/verbal confrontations. This includes Facebook and other social network posts. Parents/Guardians and fans will also refrain from fighting with any child, coach, parent, and league official or other spectators. NO smoking, NO use of smokeless tobacco and NO use of e-cigarettes/vapes on any part of school property or practice field. 1. It is the responsibility of all participants and spectators to collect ALL trash and belongings after practices and games. 2. All families in our organization will be assigned to work the Concession Stand during our home games and any playoff games. If you cannot make your assigned date and time, you are responsible for finding a replacement. 3. All children not participating in the organization must be under direct supervision of a parent or guardian at practice and games. Any Violation by participant, parent/guardian or coaches may result in discipline or removal of the participant from the organization. Abington Junior Comets is incorporated as a not for profit organization with the state of PA. A volunteer board of directors consisting of parents, coaches, and interested community members govern us. Background checks will be completed on all coaches and board members. Important information such as practice and game updates, directions, etc. will be posted on our website as well as through and texts. Please check these regularly. COPY By signing this Contract, I am giving the coaches my full support to run the team the way he/she sees fit. I will follow the chain of command with any problems that may occur and respect the 24-hour rule. All written complaints must be sent via to abingtonjc@gmail.com within seven (7) days of the incident. All prior complaints will be aggregated and may affect future participation. I will abide by these rules and made sure that my child abides by the same and any additional player/participant agreement. I am aware that lack of participation in practice can affect my child s playing time. Failure to comply with our policies will result with a range of consequences, depending on the policy violation, severity of the infraction and repeat offenses. I have read the enclosed information including this Parent and Participant Contract, Parent Information Form including equipment cost. 5 PARENT INFORMATION FORM Equipment: The Abington Junior Comets organization provides football players with game uniform, shoulder pads with rib pads, various loose pads (such as thigh, knee, and tail), and helmet. This equipment is valued at $250. You will need to purchase: Practice pants (integrated or non-integrated) (prices range from $20-$40) Girdle (with hip, knee and tailbone pad) ($25-$60) Athletic supporter and cup (around $10-$30) Practice jersey (sold at Battaglias and can be personalized) $15 Rubber cleats (non-metal) ($25-$150) Nontransparent (colored) mouthpiece ($2-$30) Many players choose to wear receiver gloves- these are entirely optional. Please note that any gloves need to be certified by the NOCSAE. The Abington Junior Comets organization provides cheerleaders with game uniform valued at $200. You will need to purchase* Lollipops (cheer briefs) (approx. $8) Socks (approx.-$3) Cheer sneakers (approx. $25) Turtleneck onesies (approx. $18) or Turtleneck Crops (approx. $15) Pom poms (approx. $27) *A representative from a local sports store will be available at uniform handouts to help with ordering these items. She will have samples that the cheerleaders can try on. A handout with exact prices will be distributed at a later date. A $100 deposit is required with all AJC provided uniforms. Throughout the season there will be various apparel sales (including warm-ups). These are all OPTIONAL. Practice and Games: First practice for Football and Cheer begins Monday, July 23, 6-8 pm. Football practice runs Monday-Thursday from 6-8 pm until the start of the school year. At the start of the school year football practice runs Tuesday-Thursdays with a time change to 5:30-7:30 pm. Cheer practice continues Monday-Thursday. Cheer also has mandatory practice Monday-Friday the two (2) weeks prior to competition. Saturday morning practices may be held at the discretion of the coaches. Please be prompt in dropping and picking up your child and observe the traffic flow patterns for everyone s safety. Siblings will be assigned to the same side (North or South). Games are played on either Saturday evenings or Sunday during the day. Unexcused absences from practices or games may impact playing or participation time and in extreme cases, result in dismissal from the squad. Parents are responsible for transportation to and from practices and games.
