1 The Caravaner Welcome to Stagecoach Trails Resort Hosted by the Road Runners October 2017 Message from the Drifters Ventura Fairgrounds September The Drifters want to thank everybody for all the help hosting the Ventura Caravan. The Root Beer Float Party was a big success. The thank yous and happy faces were a great reward for our group. We had a guest sponsored by Verona McCutcheon. Her guest was Donna McCormick, who was a Caravaner for many years. It is a real pleasure to have Verona continuing to participate. We all like this venue, the weather was almost perfect. What a relief to go to the beach and leave the heat spell. Even though we did not have electric it was very comfortable, even chilly in the shade. 1

He used to extend the Church of the Lazy Dazy Services to all members before he moved to Vacaville, California. He received full military honors and was buried at the Veteran s Cemetery in Dixon. Your prayers for IVY CROCKER and family would be appreciated. Their current address is 799Yellowstone Dr. Apt. 225, Vacaville, CA Another former Drifter, FRANK VAN BUREN, #2015 passed away while traveling in Wyoming. If you should like to send a card to Sharlene, her address is 9541 Abbeyfield Rd., Santee, CA Outback, BOB HAWKEN, #2790, had a heart attack on July 13, 2017, at his home in Cornville, AZ. He was flown to Flagstaff and on the following Saturday he had a bypass. If you would like to send him a card his address is: 5210 E. Mission Cove Drive, Cornville, AZ Another Outback, RUTH CARTER, #614, passed away on July 31, She was so cute and fun to be with and will be missed by many. Jim and Ruthie had 72 years together. For those of you who like to send a card to Jim, here is his address:23442 El Toro Rd, Apt W110, Lake Forest, CA Two more Outbacks, DON SITT, #1666, has bladder cancer and had to have his bladder removed. BARB SITT, had knee surgery on August 7th No Mad, LARRY TURNER, #2932 is in St Jude s Fullerton with non-hodgkin s lymphoma. Your prayers would be appreciated for both, Sharon and Larry. Firesider, LINDA GENESER, #2745, was in the hospital on August 21st for her MS. She is going to be there another week to get her strength back. ERVIN HARTMAN #2434 of Santa Maria passed away July 5th at the age of 94. Now for me, I was in the hospital two times in August. It seems I had extreme pneumonia, which I still have and can t get rid of. Byron says I had it in May at Live Oak and now it is October and I can t shake it. 4 Washer Toss Ventura Fairgrounds Washer Toss Tournament September 16, 2017 Although only 36 Lazy Daze rigs along with one guest attended the Caravan and enjoyed the great weather, 9 Washer Toss teams were fielded for our double elimination Washer Toss tournament. Byron Shaner and Betty Boschma appeared to be on their game in the first round, being able to score easily. However, they succumbed to the old nemesis of scoring to many points and going over 21 twice. John Van Wonterghem and Peggy Zabel were the winners of the loser bracket having to defeat Roger LaPort and Art Vorbeck to advance to the playoffs where they had to defeat Vern Tutterrow and LuAnne Lowe twice to win the tournament. John and Peggy were able to defeat Vern and LuAnne the first game of the playoff, but were unable to continue their win streak and lost the second game, to Vern and LuAnne, the winners of the Ventura tournament.
