VUING HOM WIH MD 17 schools participated in a Gymnastics event, at Chessington Community College. Christ Church school attended with a group of children from Key Stage 2.

he children had been working hard practising their routines preparing for this event. Children from other schools year 7-8 judged the children.

1 VUING HOM WIH MD 17 schools participated in a Gymnastics event, at Chessington Community College. Christ Church school attended with a group of children from Key Stage 2. here were 3 sections to compete in, vault, body management (which is about strength) and floor exercises. here were 4 children in each team, split by age group. he children had been working hard practising their routines preparing for this event. Children from other schools year 7-8 judged the children. Year 5-6 won a bronze medal from the event and all thoroughly enjoyed participating. Well done to our gymnastics team! S PRICK S DY SHINNIGNS oday we have celebrated with a special St. Patrick s day assembly which covered Irish dance, music, history and of course we had some shenanigans! Miss Haughey entertained everyone with a fantastic performance on the tin whistle and was supported by her Irish colleagues Miss Doyle and Miss ates (student teacher). he children learnt about the story of St Patrick and the assembly ended with a traditional Irish blessing. Children and staff wore mufti and any money raised will be donated to the Child s rust for children with brain injuries. he Children s rust s work is with children and families from across the country to provide specialist care for those who have a brain injury. On the day, Reception and KS1 children will have the opportunity to tell one joke to their teacher and one to a friend. 6 RISING WRNSS FOR UPUS UK he 10th of March was World upus Day and on Saturday 11 th March, 10 members of staff from Christ Church School plus several of their friends took part in a 10k walk/run to raise awareness, support (and money) for upus UK. upus (atin word for wolf). upus vulgaris is an immune system illness, It presents with a severe facial rash which was once thought to resemble a wolf's bite hence the origin on the name upus. It is neither infectious nor contagious, probably genetic in origin and mainly suffered by females. old initiatives such as stem cell transplants are being experimented with, and the genetic background puzzle of lupus is gradually being uncovered. More significant developments are likely and new medications are gradually being introduced. his is why raising money to help research is vital.
